This hotel was pretty nice. I had to evacuate because of the hurricane. It was past 9 PM when I finally got to the hotel. My brother had accidentally booked me a hotel room for the wrong date, but the employee at the front desk was able to switch the date and only charge me 8 more dollars, which was actually a deal because the price would have been more expensive if I had booked a room for that day's price. The luggage cart had wheels that would annoyingly stick, but I was able to fit all of my stuff onto the cart. I loved the lighting, which I never would have thought I would care about, but the blue hue and the soft lighting made me feel relaxed and calm after a stressful day of driving away from the hurricane. It almost made the hotel feel like a big sleep over, if that makes sense? The photo I took doesn't do the lighting justice. And I loved how that lighting was not just for night time. My first room was nice, but the bathroom had cracked flooring and rust stains on the bath tub that made me too uncomfortable to shower because my mind kept thinking the stains looked like something else. They switched me to a different room. That room had a broken fridge and hair in the bath tub, but I didn't want to switch rooms again, so I just showered as quickly as I could. The bed was amazingly comfortable, especially after so much stress and driving. I didn't want to get up. I liked how there was a light switch by the bedside table for the doorway light so you could turn it off without needing to get up. The air conditioner was easy to use and felt so nice. I wasn't able to make the wifi work because my phone would keep detecting the wifi network as dangerous even though it was the hotel's own wifi network. The free breakfast was probably the best free hotel breakfast I have ever had. The food was delicious, there was a lot of variety, and there were even some different options for the next day's breakfast. Only one of the two days was there a lot of people eating breakfast, but despite that as well as me going downstairs with only 30 minutes left, there was still plenty of food available. One of the employees at the front desk didn't tell me I had to say if the fridge was working again by a certain time because maintenance would be leaving by then, so I had to make do with no fridge. That was annoying since it meant no cold drinks and no ability to keep leftovers cold. I'm hoping to be given a discount for not having one of the main amenities. Anyway, I would say the hotel was more good than bad and was way, way better than the sketchy motel I was almost going to stay at. The bed, lighting, and free breakfast...
Read morePros: Most comfortable bed I've ever had at any hotel before! Outdoor pool and hot tub. Continental breakfast was decent, but wouldn't expect to eat it more than once on your trip as you don't have many options. Many places to eat within minutes of hotel. The location of this hotel is great. Even though it isn't on the beach, the hotel is within 5-8 minutes of just about everything that you could possibly want to do while on vacation. Room and bathroom was clean; however, we encountered this strange marking next to the drain in the tub which worried my roommate a bit. It was a bit gross, but we dealt with the minor inconvenience. Did I mention the comfortable bed? I really loved that bed. My roommate wanted to pay for an additional day just to sleep in that bed.
Cons: Staff very strict about checking in early. Don't expect to be able to check-in even a minute before 3pm. Expect to be charged $15-20 if you want to watch an on-demand movie. The staff promote the waterpark, Big Kahunas, to be a very grand waterpark. Don't fall for this. While the waterpark has much to offer, we found that the management were so unfriendly and just plain rude and uncaring that I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to go to that place. They shut the park down because the park only had 25-30 customers visit that they and refused to give any of us refunds. The doors of the hotel have a good 1.5 inch gap on the floor which makes it very easy for the kids to slip things under your door and you can hear everything.
Other: We were given room101, which was very nice; however, we felt that this room would have been ideal for someone that was handicap not someone who is in there early 20s. I don't mind walking a little further to help out someone that actually needs a closer room. The listing we found for this hotel stated that the hotel had an indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub. When we got to the hotel, we found out that the website had some kind of typo and that Wingate only had an outdoor pool; I was alright with the outdoor pool, but it was rather upsetting because of all the rain we encountered while we were at this location.
Overall: I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Even with the staff being a little subpar at check-in, they were rather courteous and professional. The beds were fabulous! I can't mention enough about how comfortable...
Read moreI’m actually very disappointed for A Wyndham hotel , with myself being a manager at a Wyndham hotel on vacation. I don’t even know if staff members were even fully trained on the concept of points because not all points are just free and given. Some points are bought as some are also earned. On the site nor on the online check-in, does it state that there is $100 deposit which I was charged and then the desk clerk at the front office at check-in to inform me otherwise that is stated it on the site and also whoever wrote me on Wyndham Canary also told me that it’s on the site which nowhere on the site does it state there is $100 deposit. With that said they gave me a room that was very unkept. The floors are very disgusting on all of the edges. There is dust food and debris in the bathroom. There was here in the sink here in the bathtub here on the bottom of the toilet and on the floor the bed when you pull it back has no bedbug cover has stains on the bed. Also, there was here inside of my bed. When I pulled the covers back the bed was poorly made. There’s dust all over the lamps. There was something spilled on the nightstand. With it being summer and very hot the AC was off. The freezer had so much ice inside of it. You couldn’t put hardly anything in the freezer. The microwave had a very big gigantic burn spot in it and underneath the plate and on top had food debris and on the side. The coffee maker on top the tray and the actual coffee packets looks like it has not been touched or changed in a while very dusty and dirty. The curtains are all raggedy and has strings and fallen apart. There was a blood spot on the wall next to the window . Breakfast was lacking had hardly anything out no where to sit as I understand was busy but no one was worried refilling the breakfast just sitting at the front desk. I understand that use Canary that responds and replies back but also the desk clerks responded not once did they apologize just that they would pass the information onto the manager. Attached are pictures and proof. I’m asking for all my points to be returned as I was not able to cancel and go stay some place else. At that point I had no choice to stay. 60,000 points was used. Stay was from May 3st until June 4 th 2025. If I was health inspector they would...
