Today was my first time visiting Cold Truth at this location. I used to visit them when they were off of Gratiot. I was hoping to catch the lavender flavor, but instead they had blueberry. While I highly recommend trying cold truth, I do NOT recommend getting the blueberry flavor. It simply tasted like purple cream. I know that makes no sense, but there’s truly no other way to describe it. I bought ice cream for my brother and I. He got sweet cream with biscoff topping and I got blueberry with no toppings. After he finished his, he also helped me finished mine. And he agreed that he did not like the blueberry ice cream that I had ordered and that it simply tasted like purple. He said that I should have gotten sweet cream instead. So I really think cold truth should either never bring the blueberry flavor back or improve it so that it actually tastes like blueberries. But as of now, blueberry is not their best flavor at all. I do want to add that the texture of their soft serve is so amazing for a vegan ice cream joint. It’s fluffy and creamy at the same time. Such a beautiful soft serve. But beauty only...
Read moreI've visited Cold Truth many times before writing this review, having been a customer since they first opened. Over time, Cold Truth has continuously perfected their vegan ice cream recipe, with the flavor and texture only getting better. They made a vegan whipped cream that was so good and I cannot wait till they make it again.
Their social media presence keeps you updated on current specials, and they are responsive to ideas and feedback. Have a flavor suggestion? They genuinely care and will try to make it happen. It's a fun, community-based vegan ice cream shop.
If you’re vegan, this is the go-to ice cream spot in Detroit. It’s worth the 30-minute drive. On Tuesdays, they offer local vegan Mexican food and host various food truck pop-ups. Cold Truth is part of a cool scene in Detroit, located in a great neighborhood.
We have a memorial service for my boyfriend's mom up in Ludington, MI, and we'll be getting dry ice to pick up a couple of Cold Truth pints to share with the other vegan family members. Worth it. #vegan #Detroitveg #vegetarian...
Read moreCold Truth is our families favorite ice cream place. We go a few times a week. I love what they stand for and for what they do for their community. During the pandemic they gave pints away to Hospital workers, fire fighters and police officers, which I and friends contributed too. I have been in line at Cold truth when people in tactical gear have showed up, it’s not the friendly policeman look. It’s scary and intimidating for my children, myself and others as i look around. I’ve also witnessed this at Meijer, my child turns around to bump into a officers gun as they were trying to reach some thing over her. Why you dressing like this for grocery shopping & ice cream outings? Isn’t there a protocol for people who are on break or done with their shift to put their weapons away? COMMUNITY IS SPEAKING OUT HERE. LETS COMMUNICATE NOT INTIMIDATE
