I cannot comment on their ambience as I ordered for delivery both times over months (I forgot the name after the 1st time) and both times the food was horrible enough for me to be up at 3am due to hunger in the hotel to warn people. Whoever cooks there should go & learn basic cooking. Breaded Tilapia on terrible tasting”Edikaekong” poor imitation, terrible egusi and diluted red Stew-“pepper soup” with nothing similar to the Nigerian pepper soup but more like diluted red rice stew? We threw his food away both times & slept hungry! The person on phone was not even remorseful at our going to bed hungry after spending so much! It should be a crime to write misleading reviews as he has a lot of fake reviews online. You think you are getting away with ripping people off but it’s not fair! Hire a trained cook & stop the fake reviews.
To think I mistakenly ordered here again after my last experience of throwing their food away? It is that bad. I did not remember the name of the horrible place during my last visit to Detroit so I followed the fake 5-star reviewers! Stop faking reviews online. Improve your cooking instead of ripping people off their hard earned $ like this!
Now I wouldn’t forget the name of this terrible imitation of Nigerian cuisine whenever I’m in Detroit area! Fork Nigeria is NOT a Nigerian restaurant, it’s not even close to a place serving passable food. It’s a rip-off by someone who just thought he could cook but really doesn’t have a clue on how to cook at all. To think we have wasted almost $200 over two visits spanning months only to throw the food away each time! The person on phone asked me “if I tasted his “red stew looking pepper soup” when I called to give him a feedback ! Pepper soup never looked or tasted so horrible! Now I must not forget and mistakenly order from here again, the food is not Nigerian, not even tasty food. It’s tasteless food cooked & sold to unsuspecting public as Nigerian food. Kolaq is in Farmington which is far from downtown but serves authentic good Nigerian food. I wish we had driven there instead of...
Read moreReview for Fork (Woodward Location, only ): I normally don’t leave negative reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing.
The only location open today was on Woodward, which is a 44-minute drive from my home. I had a taste for Nigerian food and decided to try this place because of the positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was frustrating from start to finish.
First, the parking situation is a nightmare. The instructions direct you to park in spots 29, 30, or 31, but those were blocked — one by their food truck, and the others by vehicles that weren’t even being used by customers. On top of that, the entrance into the lot is dangerous. The ground has broken bricks and uneven areas that feel like a real hazard to your tires. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend pulling in unless they repair it.
I received a text saying my order was ready, while on the way and I arrived 15 minutes later. I followed the instructions, called the number, and was told they’d bring it out. I waited 25 minutes. During that time, I watched them serve others, and when I finally tried to approach, the staff disappeared inside. The directions specifically say not to enter the building, so I didn’t. I called again — no response. When someone finally came out (to give food to another customer), I asked about my order, explaining I had been waiting over 20 minutes. The response? A simple “okay.” No apology, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience.
After all that waiting, I was handed food with no courtesy, and to top it off, the plantains were (large in size, great!) But, overcooked, sticky, and tasted like they had been fried in old grease. The lid wasn't securely attached it honestly felt careless.
This was not the kind of service or food quality I expected after driving 44 minutes and spending my money. I could have cooked at home or stopped at one of the many other places I passed, but I wanted to try something new. Instead, I left feeling upset, unappreciated, and disrespected as a paying...
Read moreThere was a food truck this past weekend at the Dally in the Alley, and the service was terrible. They had rice and other food on display; however, when ordering, the same options were not applicable as in vegetables with the rice. It was first stated that the vegetables would be offered unless you ordered a meal, but it was not with the meals either. Then, it was stated that the vegetables were out of stock. For the employees to lie not once but twice is very unprofessionalism and vegetables on the rice should not be displayed. Also, the serving paper should be more sturdy as putting the delicious rice in it was hot, and it started sweating the paper container and could easily fall through. The rice was delicious. I started to order the lamb; however, it was only a big bone with little meat, which is a rip-off when you have to pay extra to add meat to make a combo. The employees with the food truck that were staying outside in front of the food need better service and...
