We really were looking forward to trying Mom's Spaghetti, unfortunately the hype surpassed the product. Because of the hype and considering we went after a Tigers/Cubs game, we expected a long wait but was pleased that only like 5 or so people were ahead of us Nevertheless, we had a good time, and it was still a very memorable experience even though there wasn't a great deal to do here. There is a museum of sorts upstairs, but we got there after it closed. It's a very small menu. We were able to try everything, and there were just 4 of us. The basic spaghetti and meat sauce were exactly what one would expect. Served in a Chinese takeout like container. No bells or whistles here. We added meatballs to it, but they were extremely bland and cheap tasting. If you don't fancy regular meat sauce, Bolognaise is your other option for sauce. My advice, however, is to stick it out with the meat sauce. The Bolognaise was terrible and quite possibly the worst pasta sauce I've tasted in my life. It tasted and smelled like cigarette ash. Didn't even come close to finishing this. Don't recommend this dish to anyone, even smokers. All is not lost, however. The true standout here was the S'Ghetti sandwich. This was delicious. I'm not sure how there was such a contrast between this and the regular spaghetti, but there was, and I'm glad for it. If I had tried only the sandwich, this would've been a 4-star review. The dining room is extremely limited in seating. There may have been 5 stools lined along the windows and 2 single person booths on the kitchen side of the room. My picture below actually pretty much captures the entire dining room. But we were lucky enough to find enough seating, so we were happy with that. I do think Mom's Spaghetti is a place you have to go to at least once. But don't build it up with too much hype.
