Peking Express — Restaurant in Detroit

It looks like some of the reviews of this place here and on Yelp! are a couple years old, so maybe this update will help. I love this place. I tend to divide Chinese restaurants into high end and low end, you know, classy or basic. This is a basic place, and should I think be appreciated on that level for good, fast, Chinese-American food. May be under new management since some of these reviews were written and I have to tell you, the place was clean and friendly. It's got a neighborhood vibe and a lot of regulars. When I was there for a workday lunch, neighborhood and working people stopped in, chose from a couple of usuals, and commended me for discovering the place. If some of the flavors of the day are bland, well, they do let you try each meat before you commit to it, so take them up on that. I ordered three meals for carry-out, when I got there they had all three "meals" in one container. When I asked to pay for two of them separate, she said "That ain't what you ordered." I told her I ordered three separate meals and she said, again, that I didn't. So after trying to break it down to her, she still had no idea what I wanted (though, she kept saying "I understand, sir"). I had to walk her through the process of putting three separate meals into three separate boxes. Even then, she was asking what box I wanted my dinners in. I don't know, whatever boxes you're supposed to put it in. It's your job, not mine. She over charged me and had no idea how it happened. After it all was done my girlfriends Lo Mein had a bunch of our food in it still and it was not at all what we wanted. The woman was rude and the food is kind of crapy. This place use to have good food and service, but now there's a child(yes child) at the window that can barely speak english and needs an attitude adjustment! When I tried to order, I was asked did I want a pint or a quart. This was their second chance because I went through the same process the last time I was there. When I asked him to show me what the containers looked like, he left the window and was gone about 5 minutes. When I tried to ask the adult about the containers, she told me her son would take care of me, twice. He finally returned with 5 containers that he threw up on the counter in front of the window, still needing an attitude adjustment. I informed them I would be eating elsewhere.
