WOW. WOW. WOW. I first visited 2 years ago for a company Christmas party and was so impressed! The pizza options were unique and delicious so I had made Sgt. Pepperoni's Pizzeria & Deli a regular rotation for Friday night food ... Until today!

Last night I went to pick up a pizza, breadsticks, wings, and a salad around 10:00 pm. By the time I got home, exhausted from a long work week, I ate some of the pizza. The edges were burnt and it was a little crispy, but I let it pass because I was tired. I ate a half of breadstick that I also noted was a little dark, but fell asleep.

Around 1:30 pm the next afternoon, I opened the Breadsticks and they were burnt! I took a picture and called the store to report. Since my quality had been good to this point, I just thought it was a bad day and I should get a later replacement. This is where it all changed!

I called-in to speak to the Manager. I will say my Customer Service experience with phone and counter staff has always been positive and enjoyable which is why I was surprised that the Manager "Joe" in the background sounded so negative and loud.

He was hearing part of the conversation. I was telling her my complete order and that half of it was good, but once he heard burnt pizza he started yelling he's not "giving a refund for every person calling claiming they had a burnt pizza on Friday night!" I had not asked for anything. I was trying to describe the situation. He kept yelling so I asked to speak to him directly. That's when it got worst.

He got on the phone with a raised voice reiterating he was not giving a refund, etc. I calmly and politely asked him to listen to my entire story, that I had ordered more than that, and I had not asked for anything. He kept yelling at me.

I refused to engage in his tone and asked him to speak to me respectfully. His response was to tell me that I was the third person complaining, I should have called last night, ... I replied I wasn't responsible for others, I had been tired and fell asleep, and I was only reporting it because that hadn't been my regular experience. I told him I did think I should get another pizza at a later date. I told him I took a picture of the breadsticks because that was just too over the top.

First he said he was the "top" at the store, then he had to talk to a manager. When I questioned that, he said he was the owner but wanted to speak to that manager first. (Fair enough.) I'm positive he said I could bring my "little picture in" on Sunday. I questioned him phrasing it that way but he wouldn't answer. He said he was busy and this was going nowhere.

The whole time, he had spoken to me in a disrespectful tone. I finally told him that I worked on a major project in North Corktown and had just referred Sgt Pepperoni's to two companies for parties. He no longer has to worry about my business and I am retracting my referrals from those two companies if this is how he treats customers and conducts business.

The only reason Service got a 3 is because of Joe. The Staff there that I encountered get a 5!

If you think I am exaggerating about the quality of my food, I attached the photo of the breadsticks. See...

May 5, 2022 at about 9:40pm I ordered 2 slices of pizza and it was a pineapple, ham, bacon pizza!!=$8 plus a tip I noticed both my slices were without pineapple and the lady at the register was annoyed n told me it’s A dollar. So I asked for the manager. Simply bcz “cmon now” The manager never came & told the girl to tell me it’s a dollar$!! Basically don’t bother her! So I asked for a refund and she never looked me in the eye and said a thing!! She gave me the $8 and I let her keep the tip i on placed n her jar for her and kept it moving! BUT being a business owner I would truly have an issue with my employee wasting my money and also turning a customer off. Instead of the manager having a better solution after seeing that my food indeed lack the substance and that I wasn’t happy with the outcome of her employee she could have just said “hello I’m the manager and I’m sorry but that’s policy” and I wouldn’t have given a heck about it &paid and extra $5 if it was required but she made the experience really uncomfortable and just smh! BUT INSTEAD OF DOING THAT She took the route of (“oh well we have plenty of other customers and wasting this food means nothing at all”) I stay across the street and always go get stuff for a quick bite and NEVER EVER had this issue with any other employees in there but the one upfront today was a tad...

I'm not too bad of a stickler for things but as I visited this establishment I was greeted with a guy on the phone at the register digging with purpose in his nose👃🏽, well I was disgusted as I waited for my order, hopin that the nose-digger didn't touch any part of my order and he didn't cause I wouldn't have for sure walked out without that pizza!🤞🏾 There were three guys back making orders, there seem to be alot goin on, jus 10mins after they opened. I was tryin to pay for my order as they just gave me my pizza and hadn't paid. So that took sometime as they were back and forth on the phone even one guy while in the midst of making a pizza, phone in one hand, pepperoni in the other ungloved hand. Not even washing as he returned to finish making the pizza🤔 I was asked by one of the guys, "did i need something else🤔" and I told him yes, jus as I did the other person that, "I'm tryin to pay for my order"…. Though I had been here before, it has been several several years. This visit was definitely a turnoff for food. My pizza was ok, quite stingy on the sauce, it didnt taste bbq'y at all and though it was minus red onions, I was reluctant to eat it by some of what I witness had me thinkin what else or how much more dirtier is my pizza😓 and maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it like I...

Well, well, well, look who's back at Sgt Peppers Pizza in Detroit on Woodward - our very own pizza-loving, cookie-munching superstar! And not just for one day, but two days in a row - talk about dedication to the cheesy cause! Now, let's talk about the real stars of the show here - the pizza and the cookies. The pizza is so good, you'll be planning your next trip back before you've even finished your last slice. The crust is crispy and delicious, and the toppings are like a symphony of flavors dancing on your taste buds. It's almost like you've stepped into a pizza wonderland - or maybe you just have a really good imagination. And let's not forget the cookies, oh sweet mother of all things sugary and scrumptious! That almond joy cookie is the stuff of legends. It's like someone took a regular cookie and said, "you know what this needs? More almonds and coconut." And you know what? They were right. So, if you're in the mood for some seriously good pizza and cookies that will make your taste buds sing, then do yourself a favor and head over to Sgt Peppers Pizza. Who knows? Maybe you'll end up going two days in a row, just like our intrepid reviewer here. Hey, there are worse things in life, right?
