Jimmy's poke and sushi burrito 2 — Restaurant in Diamond Bar

We visited this location a little before sunset. It was quiet when we entered. A young man greeted us and put on gloves to assist us. Since it was our first time we looked over the menu and placed our orders. I opted for the bowl with 2 proteins. My daughter wanted a burrito but they were out of seaweed for wrapping the burrito, so she ordered a bowl with 2 proteins.

I got white rice with two portions of spicy tuna, and edamame, kimchi, ginger, seaweed salad, and wasabi. I also tried the eel sauce which was deliciously sweet and another sauce which was okay. It was topped with sliced green onions.

My daughter also got white rice with tuna and salmon, edamame, kimchi, seaweed salad and a spicy mayo sauce.

Takeaway: The young man was very nice and the establishment was clean and simple. It's located in a shopping center and right next to a chess academy. There is plenty of parking out front and on the side of the building.

The proteins were cold and tasty, the toppings were fresh and delicious but the rice wasn't that great. It was cold and dry. We love kimchi and my daughter really loved the kimchi at this location. She said it melted like butter in her mouth.

I would definitely return for the good food and simple atmosphere. It was about $13.59 for a small bowl (2 proteins) which is the average price...

Two things that really matter to me when I'm eating at a poke restaurant.

Freshness of the ingredients. Everytime I go into Jimmy's the sashimi always has bright colors, letting me know that the fish is still fresh. If fish starts losing their shade from being out too long, it tends to look dry and dim.

Sauces. Jimmy's has no short list of different types of sauces. Whether you are looking for something packing heat or a citrusy vingarette, Jimmy has your flavor profile.

An extra bonus for me is how accommodating the staff if towards your order. Their recommendations were extremely helpful in building my meal.

FOR THE CURIOUS ADVENTURERS! The toasted seaweed burrito is akin to a sushi roll as it uses traditional sushi grade seaweed as a wrap. A tip to those who want to preserve the structural integrity of your seawood, don't be overly ambitious! Stick two scoops and minimize your add-ons otherwise you may find it cumbersome to eat! If you want something to pack a bunch of ingredients, try the regular burrito instead! Good...

I stopped by on a whim and so glad I did. This sushi burrito is amazing!!! Fresh ingredients and amazing survice!! The lady helping me was so sweet, with it being my 1st time she explained how to order and was so nice to talk with. This place deserves to be packed!!
