This place used to be the premier location, putting other buffet locations out of business. But that's all changed. I guess when you don't have any competition in the area anymore it'll keep up appearances. The inside of the restaurant is old and dated, as it was previously a Mexican restaurant years ago, so much was just carried over in regards to the building. The benches are old and worn and feel like you're sitting on a regu have slight tearslar wooden stool because the cushions have lost their ability to support weight. Many of which have small tears and show signs of incredible wear. Many of the benches feel slightly unstable because they move very easily when you sit on them. The ceiling has gotten disgusting and filthy looking as there are tons of brown water stains from previous water leaks throughout the building. They used to have lights under the glass flooring around the desert and salad station, but with the exception of one section all the rest of the lights have all burnt out. There's one section where you can see that the glass underneath the top section for the floor is completely shattered because there's tons of cracks everywhere underneath. I'm not sure how that can be considered safe to walk and stand on. They got rid of one entire buffet section because of covid and blamed it on supply issues, but here we are a couple years later and they still have that Station closed. They no longer offer shrimp for lunch time and many of the items for dinner no longer exist as well. With the exception of maybe calamari and crawfish added on for dinner time, it's safe to say that the only difference between lunch and dinner is the price, because 97 % of the food is exactly the same. Even the quality of staff has gone downhill. On many occasions I could be there eating and they suddenly decide that you have had too much to eat because they bring the check to you and then do a walk around and come back and stand there while you're eating and look at you and say "You pay now?" Sort of like they think you're going to get up and just skip out without paying. They also like coming back while you're signing the receipt at the table and looking to see if you're leaving a tip. If you go to pay up at the register yourself they get flustered over it and follow you up and stand at the counter speaking Chinese while you're paying for your meal and then obviously asking the person at the register if you left a tip or not. My big thing at tipping at those restaurants or any restaurant is -- How many times said you check on me and take empty plates, and most importantly did you come back at all while I was eating and asked if I needed a refill? The food has gotten very bland with many things being overcooked. There have been many times where the General Tao's chicken or peanut chicken or egg rolls or dumplings and things like that are all overcooked. I've even seen food, for example egg rolls, being set out that were burnt on a section. The guy who does the hibachi grill is looking to be tipped and if you don't tip him when he goes to repair your food he just throws it on the grill and mixes it around, sometimes mixing it up with other food that's already on the grill, and then slaps it on the plate and basically pushes it away to where you pick up the prepared food. However if you leave him a tip while he's cooking he will go and is more careful with your food nd not mix is up with other food...
Read moreI've always loved the Royal Buffet but my lunch date there yesterday was highly unnerving. My boyfriend and I decided on chinese and went to royal for a little afternoon date. The food was good but the service was horrible!! I was barely finished eating and brought my check after about 10 minutes of being there so I felt rushed and began to eat faster especially since the bus girl stood over my shoulder waiting for the check. My boyfriend paid the bill and within seconds we were brought back the book and the girl stood there over us waiting for a tip. I asked her for a box to bring the remainder of my food home, as i felt uncomfortable with someone watching me eat and she brought me one so i put my food in the box. While all of this was going on the girl came up to my boyfriend demanding a tip saying he hadn't included it in the bill. So Codi then informed her finally that he wasn't going to tip her. She stood there baffled but we refuse to tip the people there because technically they aren't waitresses and don't need to be tipped. And i especially refuse to tip someone who has the audacity to demand a tip!!! I have many years of actual waitressing experience and I'm very aware of the right and wrong ways of being a server. Finally, I was about to stand up and walk out with my box of left overs and the girl stood in front of me and told me she needed to weigh it and see how much it cost. I proceed to repeat what she said and then stated in a harsh tone that i refuse to repay for food i had already purchased. I then left the box on the table and walked out. I was completely shocked. I think they need to take some management classes here in America to see how things work here. If you decide to eat here make sure you are firm with your words and don't let them...
Read moreWe went here to eat on Christmas day for the crab legs they they advertised that they had and of course there were no crab legs but we were tired after driving for 2 hrs and just decided to eat there anyway. When we asked about the crab legs the staff just look away and acted like you didn't exist. About 5 mins into our meal we were approached by a man asking us if we seen an iPhone in the booth. We said no yet he stayed in front of our table insisting that it was there somewhere. So the staff come over and tell us to "move" while they take the cusions and flip them rite over our food. This happened 3 seperate times bc he just kept coming back in. At that point I lost my appetite and my food was cold. The buffet was half closed and I didn't want anything else that was left out. They started cleaning up by loudly slamming pots and pans as if they thought that would make us uncomfortable enough to leave but we stayed so we could drink my $13 vodka and soda drink. As we think back on our experience and recieved our $70 bill for food we didn't even eat or drinks we couldn't finish drinking because they wanted to close., I told my husband we should at the very least get a discount. So we tried to get the staffs attention and yet again we were ignored until they started gets antsy and wanted to leave then an older woman approached us and damanded we go pay our bill and I told her our experience she said that didn't happen and nobody told us to " move". We argued back and forth until she finally gave us a measly 15% discount. Oh and the guy with the iPhone ended up coming back yet again to tell us that his wife found the phone next to her night stand and was high and forgot. OOOPSY! Well, Merry Fn Christmas to us! I will never eat...
