Hotel amenities are wonderful; booking was a nightmare. Beware of booking a room at a Holiday Inn/IGH. We were rerouted from the hotel website upon booking our stay to a site called “getaroom.com”. We were quoted $131 for the room, but upon processing, $52 in additional fees were added to our credit card transaction for a total of $183. These additional fees were not disclosed. To make matters worse, we were also invoiced directly by the hotel a cost of $126. So, in total, we paid $309 for a stay that was quoted at $131. This was a simple 2 queen bed suite to sleep in the night before going snow tubing at a nearby ski resort, not intended to be a splurge!||I called the 1-800 number on our reservation confirmation, where I was told by getaroom.com that there was nothing that they could do for me. When I requested to speak to a manager in their service department, I was told to hold then disconnected. ||I went to the front desk of the hotel to attempt to resolve this billing nightmare in person. I was told that they are encountering a lot of problems through this particular authorized vendor (getaroom.com), that the hotel never received the voucher of payment regarding our reservation. By the time we checked out, the front clerk could see in their system that we had been billed twice for the same room. She assured me that the hotel’s portion would be refunded to our credit card. It would simply need to wait until her manager arrived that morning. The manager would correct their portion of the mistake and call me that day, after 9 am, to confirm that had been completed. This was days ago, and I still have received a phone call, nor has my credit card transaction been corrected. ||I have now invested more time attempting to correct this billing disaster than my family and I spent snow tubing- the purpose of the trip! This is just so disheartening to what would have otherwise been a wonderful trip. ||On a positive note, the hotel itself was very nice. The indoor pool was well kept and heated. The complementary breakfast was a nice touch. The room was clean and spacious for our family of 5. The hotel accommodations were great! Totally worth the $131 that we were...
Read moreThis review is coming from a customer who had just checked out of another Holiday Inn Express in Strasburg, where we had a fantastic experience. Personally, I would not book this hotel again. The best part of this hotel for me outside of leaving to go home was the bed. The bed was comfortable, and I had a decent nights rest. My husband and I stayed here for a leisurely visit, but weren’t very satisfied with our stay. The breakfast was good, had decent options for breakfast items. My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights, after the first night and both of us taking showers, the following day, the cleaners watched us walk out of our room. We left our room at 9 in the morning with no signage saying do not disturb, so the cleaners knew we were not in the room. Our room was also right next to the storage closet. The cleaners were standing right next to our room as they watched us walk out and by them. They did not clean our room or resupply our room with new towels. When I asked the woman at the desk, she informed me that they only clean rooms after 5 days of a stay, which also means that they will not give you new towels or wash cloths in your room. The woman at the desk did give me a fresh set of towels when I asked at the counter. Personally, I do not want to wash my body with the same dirty wash cloth that was used to wash my whole body from the day before. There was also no safe in the room to keep any personal belongings of value to lock up while we were not in the room. Also, the door to the room would not fully shut on its own, we had to push or pull heavily on the door for it to latch.
One positive is that if you have forgotten an item like soap, razors, etc, the front desk does have stuff that they...
Read moreWe had to stay here due to a water main break at our apartment complex which was several blocks away. I was able to book a one-night suite at a last minute. When we got an update that the repairs would take an additional day and spoke with guest services about our problem, they were happily able to accommodate us. This was the best guest service I've ever received from them.
The two-queen suite was much bigger than I expected. It was almost as big as my apartment, and probably the biggest hotel room we've ever stayed at. The two queen beds were comfortable, and the huge LG TV had decent channels (didn't have HBO, but whatever). The microwave and fridge worked well and having an extra sink in the room was rather ideal. Our bathroom contained premium DOVE amenities, which is something one may not normally find in a lower-priced hotel.
Their breakfast offerings was superior. They had different egg and meat offerings, and pancakes and tasty famous cinnamon were available daily. Their hot tub was perfect for relaxation and de-stressing.
Our room was located in front of the building. In the night time, the lights outside were really bright, and the thin curtain didn't do enough to block it. Why couldn't they have a dark thick curtain that blocks out the outdoor lights? If this bothers you, you may want to bring a sleeping eye mask. Also, I requested a towel exchange on the 2nd morning, and after inquiring two more times, I was finally able to get them later in the afternoon. I don't know why I had to wait too long for that.
Overall, this was probably the best hotel I've ever stayed at. If I ever need to evacuate my apartment again for water-related issues or any other reason, I'll definitely...
