A&W Restaurant — Restaurant in Dodge City

Today was our first experience at A&W and the service was just awful.  Never have I been so let down by a restaurant before.  We used the drive thru and ordered an a5 and when the worker repeated our order everything was correct, then we proceeded to the window to pay and get our food.  The man who attended us was first off not in uniform and was wearing his what seemed to be pajamas.  After what seemed like forever we finally received our change and proceeded to wait for our food and in doing so we noticed that the same guy who was attending us scooped up ice with his bare hand. When he opened the window to give us our supposed order we told him that we ordered the a5 not a root bear float and he rudely told us that we did.  I'm sorry but I know that if you get a customer's order wrong you're obligated to apologize and solve the customers problem.  We continued to tell him it was the wrong order expecting  him to change it and give us our food and during that time the root beer that he gave us was overflowing all in our truck and he did not even offer napkins.  You could tell he did not care for the customer and could care less about the service he was providing.  Awful experience and we will definitely never be going...

Having begun my work experience at one of these stores, I was hesitant to eat here. The kids insisted and so we went in. It took almost 5 minutes for a very distracted young man to come take our order. There were no lids for our cups on the condiments bar. When my husband asked for lids, after waiting for several minutes to get the same youth's attention, the young man asked my husband to stock the condiments bar with the stack of lids he was handed.

Over half the tables were dirty and the trash cans were full. The A&W soda in the fountain was not the correct mix. It tasted all wrong - like the soda syrup was running out. The young man said, "Yeah, but it's still coming out so it's ok."

It took almost 20 minutes for our food to come out. The buns on the burgers and hot dog were so hard (dry or burnt depending) that they were inedible. The fish on the fish and shrimp platter was so greasy that my kid had to pull the batter off to eat it so she wouldn't be sick. It was like the grease wasn't drained from it at all after frying.

All in all, our visit confirmed my decision to not return to any of these stores ever, but especially this one....

We didn't get all the items on our order. Told him 3 times all the items. Then when he gave us the bag, we didn't get the 4 orders of large cheese curds, shrimp was in a small cheese curd box, and no cheese fries. The little girl that was in there came to the window and told us that we just needed to pull back around and reorder. We told her (and she was a manager maybe 18 yrs old) no, we ordered them she was a nasty and continued being nasty. We pulled out in the parking lot to get out of the way while they made the fries.
