TLDR: go try this place! What a treat! I went on a hungry whim and ended up going back for lunch the next day!
So to be honest I went here because Kura (the conveyor belt sushi place nearby) had a 2 hour wait and I was starving. And let me be the first to say I'm super glad that happened because this place is incredible!
Super casual chill atmosphere with bright and vibrant art on the walls, the food here transported me back to 2017 when I stumbled on yakitori alley in Tokyo. I literally have not seen in my travels a restaurant trying to mirror that style of food and eating until now over here.
The menu is complete with something for everyone from the most adventurous items like lamb kidneys and chicken feet to conservative French fries and fried rice.
I had the chicken kabob skewers and bacon enoki (specifically chose that one because I had it in yakitori alley and wanted to compare) and some french fries and lamb kidney. Everything tasted incredible. The chicken was perfectly cooked and tender. The French fries smothered in a poutine style seasoned gravy. If you like organ meat the lamb kidneys were a delight. And the piece de la resistance was absolutely the bacon enoki skewers which tasted just like I had hoped. Perfectly textured enoki mushrooms in a bite sized bacon wrap, boiled then grilled to ensure the mushrooms retain flavor but the bacon has a crisp to it.
I will say they use a spice on most cooking that if you have a friend who is not keen on too much black pepper on their food or can't handle some red pepper flakes might be too much for them, but it's made to order so easily requested to be left off.
The staff were so sweet and attentive, professional yet keeping with the casual environment. They help guide you through the menu and really took the time to answer questions.
Finally, the coolest part to me here is it's unique set up. There are some "main dishes" so if you have a group of friends where some are peckish and some are starving everyone can order Exactly how much food they want. It's a very share dishes around set up too so you can try a wide variety amongst a table of friends.
Thanks to Crazy Skewers for being such a delightful and unique restaurant in this corner...
Read moreOk… Food was really and yummy good but it really didn’t fill me up if you want something filling from here your going to have to spend a BUCK not even exaggerating I would say it’s more of a snack than a meal/entree. I would rate it 5 but I feel like they could do better they have some amazing art in the restaurant and more… But this is the part that I don’t like the drink system if you want water there cups on the top of a water filter and there’s a big refrigerator full of drinks I feel like I should be served drinks especially if they give you the option to sit down before I get the drinks that I want so the whole system is SCUFFED TO THE MAX. But other than that everything is good when you walk in you get HIT with the smell of some good burning charcoal I really liked the chicken skewers and pork intestine might sound nasty but you should try it but I know if you can’t eat pork I mean this is Chamblee 1 of the most diverse city’s is Georgia (at least the most diverse city I seen) there’s a lot to eat the prices are okay could be WAY cheaper cause it’s small proportions of food but overall it’s okay could be way better but 4 stars is what I would...
Read moreI got the fried tofu. I don't know if it's the only vegetarian/vegan item on the menu, I didn't double check. (Allergen warning: fried in peanut oil). It was AMAZING! The texture of the tofu was so crisp with a lovely snap and moist inside. Not over-fried and it wasn't greasy at all. Just perfectly seasoned with the chunky spicy sauce on top and green onions and cilantro. It's cravable and the best fried tofu I've had on Doraville or Duluth for that matter. I got one half size order and it was so good I ordered it again! Will definitely be back.
There's a nice amount of seating. Very casual place and a homey but cool modern vibe. The staff is kind and helpful. They accept tap to pay (Apple pay).
They answered my questions with care and checked on me to make sure I liked my food. I didn't try anything else on the menu, but I have no doubt they'll be delicious because usually the way a restaurant treats their plant based option will let you know the caliber of the rest of the food. You will not be disappointed. If you need a vegan/vegetarian snack, check...
