I’m going to leave a complete honest review sharing the good and bad. This review is NOT to bash the business.
FYI: I was completely aware of all the fee’s and cost of things. It’s unfortunate for certain parties (mainly the ones over 6 ppl) have a $200 fee you must spend on food or drinks. But it did end up being some confusion.
I reserved this place for my birthday. From the jump of us arriving and checking in, it went pretty smoothly. We did have to wait maybe less than 5 mins for them to have the room ready. We didn’t experience any problems with the room itself, but there was issues with their internet connection which caused a few of our songs to buffer. We used their Youtube option btw.
After we waited for a while to see if the system would work, eventually we had to call service. I’m assuming it was the manager or someone higher up came in the room and told us other rooms were having the same issue. He restarted the system (which fixed the problem for the rest of the night) however, that did take away from our booked time. He was kind enough to give us extra time once we reached our time limit.
Staff was super nice, everyone that came in to take our orders and bring my birthday cake were great. - only issue I saw regarding our food order was how long it took. We didn’t receive our food until 30 mins later and had to wait even longer for our fruit plates. remember everything is timed based on how long you booked the room, of course we’d like for everything to be served in a timely manner
Personally, I didn’t have any issues with the food. However, my guest did mention their items were not the best tasting food.
Now, here is where our night sorta went downhill. Once it was time to check out, there was a lot of confusion.
First and foremost, I do appreciate that they allowed me to split the bill between all my guests (since apparently they stopped last weekend). Like I mentioned before, I was completely aware of the fees and cost, BUT what I wasn’t expecting was for the 18% service fee to be included per person. 18% is a high rate! I was under the impression 18% was one fee for the entire party, not per ticket. Once you start adding everything up, 18% is A LOT plus you have taxes.
During the confusion of our checking out process, again I assume it was the manger someone by the name of “Johnny” came up to help the girl who was originally checking us out by the name of “Erin” where he ended up only getting frustrated with us. I get it, it’s late at night (closing time) everyone is tired, ready to go but you don’t just treat your customers like that.
The original girl had to come back up again and take over since he was highly annoyed with us. We were not fussing about paying, it was just the confusion of how expensive everything turned out. Numbers didn’t seem to be adding up, we split a bottle with 6 ppl but the calculation was throwing us off. Eventually, we figured it out, but during all of this going on the way Johnny treated us was disappointing and not professional. Having patience is key if you want to run a successful business.
If you decide to visit I just want you all to read all reviews and ask questions before you book anything like I did. Although, I read all the good and bad reviews, I still chose to give them a try. I mean, you’ll never know if something is good or not until you try it. Everyone’s experience will be different. I was just really caught off by how expensive everything turned out to be once you add the 18% service fee and taxes. I was aware of the menu and drink prices, but the 18% and taxes is what did it for me.
Definitely will not be back again. I came here for my birthday, always wanted to visit this place as it looks really nice. Yes, the place is really nice, exactly what you see online but the prices are extremely high. It’s ridiculous you have to spend $200 on food or drinks. Be ready to spend nearly $1K, because the way this business is set up with all their fees and prices...
Read moreYOU WILL BE HIT WITH A MILLION RULES YOU DIDN’T KNOW THEY HAD ONCE YOU GET THERE. 20% Charge on everything for every single person and also a 20% charge for your reservation as a whole. Even though I called a week ahead to ask to make sure and the LIED and assured me that they could split the check “as many ways as you need to you would just need to get your server in your room to do that”. They DO NOT split checks or the bill. They will put the person who booked the reservation’s card on file for the whole party so even if you paid $500 for the reservation your card will need to be on file and responsible for every guest bill.
Get ready to charge your card another $1000 or have 15+ people calculate their bill 20%+ gratuity included and receive 15 cashapp, Zelle, Apple Pay or Venmo transactions.
You all need to invest in handheld mechanisms or a way for customer’s and their guest to pay their portion of the bill themselves. They have these devices in restaurants from AppleBees to Two Urban Licks. Customer’s at a table are able to select the items THEY purchased and pay. It is simple… Nor the customer or the guest along with them want to have to have meetings over the teriyaki chicken strips on a bill or have to worry about sending and receiving tons of electronic payments to manage a night of “FUN”.
You charge your guest HUNDREDS of dollars for this service and then don’t work with them to assist with issues. Why are customer that pay $500+ dollars have to manage and service 10 - 20+ people making sure they are getting rung up and paying for drinks that’s literally YOUR job as an establishment. It basically comes down to you all doing LESS work and putting more work on the customer that just paid you HUNDREDS of dollars.
Oftentimes people are coming there for birthdays or celebrations but instead of enjoying themselves your HIGHLY INCONVENIENT policies are literally making people WORK and be a PROJECT MANAGER. How are guest supposed to enjoy their nights that way?
Also, I watched multiple customers come up to the check in desk to voice their opinions about things and your staff was unhelpful and nonchalant. They did not give customers any care, service or empathy they were basically like “yeah yeah yeah we don’t care and we can’t do anything about that.
Yes, it looks nice in there, but you all are really dropping the ball when it comes to service. I invited 25+ people for my reservation and all of those people thought that it was nice, UNTIL they witnessed the service portion of the night. Those 25+ people could have been on their way to booking reservations of their own in the future, but NOBODY wants to put be responsible for 25 other grown adults paying for a cheese dip and basically being held hostage until the end of the night to pay their portion. The 25+ people with me who could have been potential customers were scared off because who wants to feel ambushed with “secret fine print policies”.
INVEST IN HANDHELD DEVICES WHERE GUEST CAN SEARCH FOR THE ITEMS THEY ORDERED AND PAY THEIR PORTION OF THE BILL… THEY HAVE THIS AT MANY ESTABLISHMENTS, BUT TWO URBAN LICKS IS A PLACE I...
Read moreMy visit to Mics Karaoke was meant to be a truly special occasion… the night I proposed to my now fiancée!! While my group managed to salvage the moment, Mics Karaoke did everything in its power to ruin it. From a shocking lack of discretion to a complete failure in providing basic services, this place was a nightmare.
I went to great lengths to ensure this night would be perfect. I personally visited the venue, saw the room, and was assured of the various ways I could access the specific song needed for the proposal. I called and reconfirmed multiple times, explicitly stating that no one should mention the proposal upon our arrival and that the reservation was under my friend's name, even though I was organizing and paying. They even claimed to have noted these critical instructions internally, and the staff initially seemed enthusiastic about helping.
The day of, the facade crumbled. When I arrived with my then girlfriend and stated we were there for the reservation under my friend's name, the person at the counter bluntly informed us there was no reservation under that name. After an agonizing delay and discreet prompting, she finally had an "oh" of realization, only to then demand my credit card specifically to pay for the night… right in front of my girlfriend! The surprises didn't stop there. While we waited for our room, another staff member tapped me on the shoulder, again, right in front of my girlfriend, and started asking about the proposal and if I had already done it. This was after I had spoken with all these individuals about the surprise.
Somehow, we managed to get to the room without completely raising suspicions, but the problems only intensified. Once inside, only Spotify worked, with no lyrics displayed on the screen. Our server's unhelpful solution? "You'll just have to do songs you know the lyrics to," before promptly leaving us. We desperately tried to salvage the evening by looking up lyrics on our phones (see pictures), but even their Spotify was malfunctioning.
Throughout the night, despite my repeated assurances that I understood and had no issue paying the minimum bill, the staff and even the management seemed obsessed with emphasizing the minimum payment. I was approached by three different staff members a total of five times, including an incredibly obtuse, unempathetic, and out of touch general manager. Their constant badgering made it incredibly difficult to maintain the ruse that my friend had organized the event.
After the event, I even called this GM for one last attempt to make things right. He told me they had already discussed the issue and were planning to contact me with an offer, taking my number and promising a call after meeting with the owner. That call never came, further highlighting their complete indifference.
The only positive aspect of our entire experience was Neek, the security guard, who was genuinely friendly and helpful. He is the only good thing this place has going for it.
Save yourself the stress and disappointment. Do not consider Mics Karaoke for any special occasion, or honestly, any...
