Papa Jay's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Dover

I’ve tried them twice now and will continue because they are pretty good!

The pizza is good but could be better. The dough was great, the cheese was great but the sauce was a little bland. I ordered mozzarella sticks and the sauce that came with those seemed to have more flavor so I spread it over my pizza and when I did that, the pizza was really good! Maybe it was just off for the pizza sauce those times but I’ll keep trying it to see…..

The hamburgers are really good, so we’ll make sure to have those every time we order. The ham sandwiches were great as well, that’s one of my go to orders wherever I go and they are really good here.

The onion rings and fries are really good but I’m sure they would be better if I picked up the food myself instead of DoorDash, which takes a while. We are 7.7 miles away so they won’t deliver to us themselves, which I understand.

I think I’ll go there myself next time to pick the food up myself. I’m sure it’ll be fresh and maybe I’ll update my review after I do that.

Also, I noticed the DoorDash menu is different from the menu that they offer (there are more items available if you order directly from them), so I’m excited to order directly from them and pick it up myself to try new items….

Overall, I think Papa Jay’s is really good and will definitely continue ordering...

Honestly the reason i give this place a 2 is because theyre service and care for customers is trash! Theyre food is really good but the terrible service that comes with it is what turns your stomach. I ordered online for pick up i live 5 minutes away , i ran to get the food where my order was sitting next to a cold door on a table but it said it was just ready so no issues . I get home to find that out of 2 Orders of fries and 2 Orders of chicken tenders , 1&1 was ICE COLD AND the mozz sticks , i called in because if all of it was cold okay i get it but only half. They contine to tell me when things were bagged and what not and tell me that its because its winter and they cool down. I explained again that the others were fine and the anwser was it wasnt his fault and to come back in july when people say there food is too hot. Unexpectable from a fromer restaurant owner in Massachusetts i would never say something like that to a customer. So i wont be going back for the simplicity of not even appologizing for it and blaming a customer on cold food. ZERO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION...

Well, everything was going great until this one time. Normally dont have a problem with the place except with the drivers constantly showing up to the neighbors house. But that's beside the point. Waited over an hour for our food, which has never happened before. Normally doesnt take that long to make ravioli and put together an italian sub. but whatever right? Could have been a busy Wednesday night..but again not my point. Now on the menu it clearly states "All cold subs include lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, green peppers & onions". So ordered a spicy italian sub the same way we have ordered it just like the 500 other times it's been ordered. But what we got was pretty much a cheese sandwich with a few pieces of meat. Is this a joke? Like I mean what happened to the rest of the sub? No veggies? Yeah I get it, we all make mistakes. But when you have waited over an hour for cold ravioli and a sad excuse for an Italian sub, kinda really pisses a person off. 2 stars, and that's me being extra generous because the food is decent when made...
