Mariscos La Chula -Downey — Restaurant in Downey

The place was nice. My husband and I went in for the 1st time and it happened to be on Taco Tuesday which they were having a great deal for 99 cents and it did not disappoint! The only thing we didn't like was the how much they charge for their drink without free refills. They don't have fountain drinks. Their pineapple drink was one of those artificial flavored drinks that was $4.15.

UPDATE: Walked in to place my usual order for Taco Tuesdays. I said 2 orders of 10 fish tacos, 5 for each bag. I asked for 2 extra ranch and 2 extra hot sauces for each bag. Lady started punching in the order..I asked how much for the extra ranch, she said $1 each. She said it comes with 1 so I said ok 2 more for each order... I was charged $4 extra, total was $15.30. Fish tacos are only .99c each on Tuesdays. Long story short, I came home with just 2 ranch and a bunch of hot sauces I didn't asked for! So they charged me extra for ranch I didn't get and when I called, the same lady that took my order kept correcting me from her own mistake!

Mind u, I ordered 2 orders with 5 tacos each, I asked for 2 more ranches...

We went on Tuesday, March 7 at 730pm. There was no one at the front so we walked to the registers. We ordered a shrimp ceviche, 1 taco gobernador, 1 classic margarita, and 1 mango margarita. The total was around $29. After I signed the receipt the cashier left and we were confused of where to go. We sat down and then a waitress moved us to another table. She started giving us menus when we told her we had already ordered. They called out my name and they brought our food over in to-go containers. The taco was burned and the shrimp seemed undercooked. The ceviche tasted fresh but I needed more juice. Some of the tostadas were broken. They gave me the wrong margarita and were quick to correct it. The margaritas tasted like syrup. No one came to check on us after we got our food. The table next to us had waters and chips but no one came to help them either. They eventually left and we saw them looking at another restaurant next door. The waitresses looked busy but they would’ve benefited from better direction. No one was being greeted as they came or went. I would not...

Today my wife and I visited this place and we are rating it with 2 stars and contributing with some constructive criticism, am going to start with the flavor on their cocktails which lack flavor it was just like drinking water, I would advise the owner to taste the food every once in a while my second issue was the bitter lemon which messed up my food and I didnt want to be an A#$%hole and return it., the only waitress they had working did a great job helping all the customers all by her self unfortunately making customers wait too long its not good for business but that may be due to lack of personal that most businesses are...
