So maybe I was being a little sensitive, but if your hostess is the first impression of the restaurant, then Toast might want to spend more time training theirs. I was looking forward to trying this place, but the initial impression actually caused me to get up from where we'd just been sat and leave without ordering. My girlfriend and I walked in, she sat down and I approached the front desk. I waited for the hostess to finish with the couple in front of me, and while doing so, I noticed a couple of women leaving and entering the restaurant. I'm old school, so I stepped over to open the door for them. While doing so, another customer came in and stepped up to the desk. The hostess turns to help this customer before me. Fine, not a big deal. I wait, the hostess turns to me, and I tell her I'd like a table for 2. The hostess asks me if the other party is present. I confirmed she was (which was my girlfriend). The hostess responds that they have to be in front of her. Flabbergasted, I turned and pointed to my girlfriend and informed the hostess firmly that she was sitting in the chair at the front. Now the hostess has an annoyed look on her face, clearly bothered and giving off a palpable attitude. After showing us to the booth without looking at either of us, the hostess walks away. We slide into the booth, and there's barely enough room for either of us. Our chests are literally touching the table, and there's no place for us to push the table or seating away. One of the managers happened to be nearby arranging tables. We called to the manager and either were not heard or ignored on both occasions. Normally, I would have just gone back to the hostess and asked for a table (as opposed to the booth), but after the initial encounter with the hostess, we opted to leave, and speaking for myself alone, I would likely not go back. If the hostess already cops an attitude before I've even sat down, I've already got a bad taste in my mouth before I've even...
Read moreJust to start off, this toast is not affiliated with the toast in Temecula. Me and my wife came before noon on Sunday and waited around 35 min which wasn't too bad, however there was some confusion on where to seat us. The atmosphere is very trendy and loud(music and people). They also have a side area that looks cool if you want to take pics and post it to social media. FYI The prices on the menu outside didn't match the main menu you get inside which wasn't good.
I ordered the Santa Barbara benedict and for a place to be called toast you'd think they'd toast the English muffin; it was right out of the bag, but the home styled potatoes saved the day. My wife ordered the berry french toast and came with just blueberries only, and she said that they were over done.
We also ordered a flight of margaritas to try and they were ok, as 2 were good and the other 2 were spicy(I love spicy, so just a warning for those who don't). They also looked bigger online, they're a little bigger than a double shot glass and for the price of 32$ it's not worth it. The service seemed a little chaotic at times, especially when trying to get their attention for water and condiments. For just 2 people it was a little too pricey for what you actually get. Overall, I feel that if you're looking for a fun party breakfast/brunch place to try I'd say go at your leisure; there is no need to rush out, but know it's similar to a...
Read moreWe came to celebrate my cousin's birthday at Toast. My cousin made a reservation because we were 15 people in the party. We ordered our drinks. Most of the party received their drinks except for one of us. We waited over one hour. When we finally received our margarita flight none of our flight had alcohol. Instead of just bringing shots to pour into the drinks. We had to wait another 30 minutes for them to redo our flight. We were told it was taking long because they were short handed. We finally ordered our food. And it took another 45 minutes to receive. At that time, the birthday girl, my cousin and I didn't receive our food. Our waitress never came back to ask us if we were good or needed anything else. After she came back to take our order again. We waited another half hour and still no food. One of the assistant managers was really rude and was talking back. It's such a shame the assistant manager had no sympathy. I can't believe this was the service we got. What was the whole point of a reservation. When other people were coming into the restaurant and they were receiving their drinks and food. The music was a bit loud. I will not be returning back or recommending this place. I've heard great things but I can't agree or leave a...
