Today, we had the pleasure of visiting "Will to Escape," where we engaged in two uniquely themed escape games: "A Christmas Story" and "Disappearance: Last Location." Here's a detailed review of our experience:
Game Themes and Immersion A Christmas Story: This game was a delightful dive into a festive, holiday-themed scenario that felt like stepping right into a Christmas movie. The attention to detail in the set design added a layer of enchantment that significantly enhanced our experience.
Disappearance: Last Location: This game offered a stark contrast with a thrilling mystery that felt like a real-life detective story. The set was convincingly realistic, making us feel as though we were truly on the scene of a disappearance.
Gameplay and Mechanics Both games showcased a brilliant mix of technological and traditional locking mechanisms. This variety in puzzles provided a challenging yet accessible gameplay experience for all participants, regardless of their experience level with escape rooms.
The puzzles were cleverly integrated into the storyline of each room, maintaining immersion without sacrificing the fun and challenge of the gameplay.
Game Masters and Support The Game Masters at "Will to Escape" were exceptional. They provided subtle hints that nudged us in the right direction without giving too much away, preserving the thrill of solving the puzzles ourselves.
In "Disappearance: Last Location," the Game Master added an extra layer of engagement by incorporating character play, which enriched the storytelling aspect and deepened our overall immersion.
Recommendation and Final Thoughts We highly recommend "Will to Escape" for both escape room novices and enthusiasts. The well-crafted scenarios, combined with the thoughtful balance of puzzle types and excellent Game Master support, create a memorable and enjoyable experience.
Enthusiastic about our experiences today, we have already booked our next visit for the "Cinema" theme. This anticipation speaks volumes about the quality and appeal of "Will to Escape."
In conclusion, "Will to Escape" delivers a top-tier escape room experience that expertly blends immersive storytelling with challenging and diverse gameplay. Whether you're looking for a fun way to celebrate the holidays or a thrilling adventure, "Will to Escape" is sure to provide an...
Read moreWe had a group of four play the Christmas Story escape room on a Thursday evening, at 8pm. Andrew was our gamemaster and guide, and was for lack of a better term: The single nicest, most professional, super awesome amazing Escape Room host I have ever met in years of playing these games. He made us feel welcome from the minute we walked into Will to Escape, and made checking in very easy to do. He then gave us ample instruction on securing our valuables prior to entering the game room. He then led us to what is now my favorite themed escape room of all time: The Christmas Story room.
I am a huge fan of the film, and as soon as you walk in, you are transported to 1940's Hohman, IN, right in the middle of the Parker's living room. The attention to detail, along with the odd easter egg, really made this an incredible experience for anyone who has a special place in their heart for the greatest holiday film ever made.
Now, I want to be upfront: you do NOT have to know anything about this movie to complete the room, but it will certainly help. Andrew made sure we were well-prepared for the task at hand, let us know the layout, the rules, what to touch and what not to worry about touching, along with some helpful pointers about the gameplay, and then set us to it for an hour-long timed escape game.
It was so much fun, I was constantly blown away by both the ingenuity of the puzzles and their ability to tie into the story of the film. We did solve the room, working as a team, and it was great because it felt like everyone contributed equally here, where I've had some rooms where I felt like one or two people carried the load.
This was challenging but not so much that you ever felt any part of it was impossible. In fact, I would say that it was the perfect balance of "oh yeah, that's how that works," and "what the heck does this mean / do???"
I could not offer any higher praise to this room, to Will to Escape in general, and of course to our awesome host Andrew, other than to say, we will definitely be back to play the other games they offer as soon...
Read moreWhile I typically refrain from leaving negative reviews, my recent experience at this establishment warrants an exception. I'd prefer not to dwell on the negatives, but I feel compelled to share my disappointment.
There was a booking error made by my son between a PM and an AM booking, which occurred just before the lockout period. Understandably, there was a small window where someone could have technically booked the room. However, upon visiting the next morning just before our intended time slot, the room remained unbooked and unoccupied. The attendant appeared to be engrossed in social media on their phone, with no other customers in sight. Given the circumstances, it would have been a simple gesture of goodwill to allow us to proceed with our booking, especially since we had already paid. Instead, we were offered a mere 10% refund, amounting to a paltry $4.
At this juncture, accommodating our request would have entailed no additional cost to the establishment, yet it was evidently a matter of profit over principle. As avid escape room enthusiasts, having played over 100 rooms, we were genuinely interested in exploring more of what this venue had to offer. It's disheartening that the focus seemed to be solely on financial gain rather than fostering a sense of community and prioritizing customer satisfaction.
I urge potential patrons, particularly those who hold voting membership at Terpeca, to consider this aspect when deciding where to spend their time and money.
To the business response...You don't pride yourself on customer service, the girl was rude on the phone which is why the person who called(not me) was getting frustrated. Nobody argued the policy, I admitted it was a mistake. We went to another room and discussed many rooms including yours. I know the policies across the other rooms. They did however agree that with nobody using the room you could have allowed us to play. That was your brilliant customer service and money first attitude. Don't spend your money...
