Three of us went to dinner last night. It was cuter inside than we thought it would be with the fast food type sign out front. We put our name in and came back an hour later when we were told. Black linen tablecloths and napkins were very nice. We all had water to drink. We shared the Artichoke Dip & Meatballs. We liked both. The crock of dip came out nice and piping hot. The menu stated it would come with focaccia bread, but it actually came with toasted baguette slices, which went well with the dip The meatballs in marinara were tasty, but just barely warm. You receive approximately 14 mini meatballs. We were pleased with our choices. We ordered a small side salad, but actually received a house salad with berries, apples, and walnuts. We asked for dressing on the side and it came in a little condiment cup. The bottom was a half inch thick with ground peppercorns, making it inedible. But the salad could be good. The walnuts were candied and yummy. We ordered two entrées to share. One was the chicken marsala and the other was spaghetti with Bolognese sauce. The second one was not on the menu, but they said they could make that for us. Unfortunately, the Bolognese came out with fettuccine noodles instead of spaghetti and they were so undercooked that they were not edible. By the way they make their noodles in house, which is a plus. But these couldn’t be eaten. The chicken with the marsala had good flavor and was cooked well, but the spaghetti with the marsala sauce had so much pepper that we also couldn’t eat that. One of us actually choked on the pepper. That is the reason for our lower scores on the food. It boils down to inconsistency. Some items were pretty good and others were terrible. A bread basket comes on the table, which was nice. Our server was knowledgeable And pretty good in a busy situation. But unfortunately, he did not give us plates for the appetizers and we had to ask another server for those. And also did not fill two of our water glasses that sat completely empty. We asked another server for that also and they were very happy to oblige. We were really hoping for a good experience and have found a new Italian restaurant in the neighborhood, but unfortunately, we probably will not return. They did comp the two entrées that were inedible. We had planned to order dessert, but decided not to after tasting the food.

I have been excited to try this new restaurant as I’ve been seeing advertisements for its opening. We started off with the spinach artichoke dip. The dip was great and very creamy. It was rich and generous in size. It was served with “artisan focaccia”. The bread was dry, crumbly, and flavorless. I saw that they had some gluten free options so I thought perhaps we received a gluten free bread as it was similar to cornbread. We told our server and she wasn’t sure what it was supposed to be like but said she would check. She verified it was indeed their artisan focaccia. She did bring us some of the free bread which is similar to a baguette. It was much better. For entrees I ordered Parmesan Chicken. It is served with angel hair pasta. It was decent. The chicken was tender and well seasoned. It is clear it is pan fried as opposed to deep fried, a plus in my opinion. The pasta was gummy as other reviewers have mentioned. I personally feel that thinner pasta is better to dry and then boil as opposed to boiling fresh for this reason, but I felt the sauce was fine and overall the dish was pleasant and filling. My dining partner ordered the chicken piccata. The pasta was also gummy and the sauce lacked balance and was far too sour to be enjoyable. The server did not come back by until it was too late to inform her about the displeasure of the dish to offer a remedy. It was also embarrassing to state we didn’t like the pasta after already making a fuss about the bread. We love unique and local restaurants and wanted to love this place but given the misses with the food and seeing many others with similar issues and the mediocre service we likely will not return.

White Tomato just opened, and it’s already one of my favorite spots! Our server, Ian, was incredibly kind and patient, checking multiple items for allergens without any hesitation, which made the experience even better for me and my husband. The food was amazing—starting with the bruschetta, which was fresh, flavorful, and only $7 (easily one of my favorite parts of the meal). We also got the fried ravioli, which tasted homemade and absolutely delicious. For mains, the scampi was a standout with fresh ingredients and a generous portion that lasted me for dinner and lunch the next day. The Tuscan tortellini was just as delicious, though not quite enough for leftovers. One of the biggest surprises was the pan-roasted tomatoes—they were so well done that even my husband, who hates tomatoes, tried them and actually loved them! That alone says a lot about the quality of their food. For dessert, we tried the tiramisu, which was pretty good but had a little too much cocoa powder on top, making it more bitter than sweet. If you’re looking for a true chocolate lover’s dessert, though, the chocolate cake was insanely rich and absolutely delicious! I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a fantastic family-owned restaurant with amazing food and even better service. Definitely worth a visit!

Unfortunately, our experience here was extremely disappointing.

We came in looking forward to a nice dinner, but from the start, things went wrong. The salad we ordered to start was old and visibly going bad in several spots. They admitted they didn’t have any fresh salads and offered to comp it, which should have been a warning sign.

For our main courses, we ordered the vegetarian lasagna and the vegetarian eggplant parmesan. Without telling us, they brought me baked rigatoni instead of lasagna, having run out of lasagna noodles and deciding to substitute without any communication. Worse, the baked rigatoni had meat in it, even though I had ordered vegetarian. At this point I wasn't even going to get the lasagna I ordered so I told them to just pass and fix my wife's food.

My wife's eggplant parmesan was supposed to be breaded (according to the server) but arrived as just three slices of unbreaded eggplant with a pile of noodles and sauce. When we pointed it out, they said they could quickly pan-fry it and it would only take "30 seconds." At that point, after waiting so long, we asked them to just prepare it to go. Even then, it took another 15 minutes before they brought it out.

They told us they would comp the meal and that they would bring my food out without meat.

Well I never got my food and when we finally received my wife's it was clear that it had been badly overcooked. Only one slice of eggplant and a small handful of noodles were included. They didn’t mention anything about the issue — we noticed the food was tough and burnt.

Despite all of this — the wrong food, meat in a vegetarian dish, poor communication, extreme delays, and food that wasn’t properly cooked — they simply comped the meal and left it at that. We arrived at 6:30 p.m. and left after 8:00 p.m., and I never received a proper meal at all.

We still tipped the server against our better judgment, but this was one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve had in a very long time. I don’t normally leave negative reviews, but not serving what was ordered, making substitutions without consent, serving meat in a vegetarian dish, and failing to deliver a meal altogether is unacceptable. Based on our experience, I would not recommend...

Last night my friend and I were excited to try White Tomato. The restaurant was not busy as it was a Wednesday night (around 7:00). There was one other table occupied in the section we were sitting in. I saw two servers and one hostess working. The one female server that was serving the other table in our section walked right past us several times without saying anything. The other male server never came over into our section of tables. We assumed the female server would have been our waitress. No server ever came to our table to take our order. Not even drinks. As I said, the female walked right past our table (we were in plain site in the middle of the section) about 6 times. She didn't make eye contact. She didn't ask if our order had been taken. She could have clearly seen we did not have drinks and that the menus were still on the table. She came to the other table in our section to check on them... to give them their left over containers... to drop off their check. It looked like she even took a picture for them. I saw her wait on and speak to other tables a lot. Besides the hostess when she seated us, no one even spoke to us. I know we could have stopped the server as she was walking past our table to ask if she could take our order, but we didn't feel that it would have been necessary for us, as paying customers, to have to ask for someone to wait on us. We were hungry and excited to eat, but after 20 minutes of being ignored, we got up from our table in the middle of the restaurant and walked out. We drove to another restaurant that was actually relatively busy for a Wednesday evening and were greeted right away and seated within 45 seconds of walking in. A server brought us chips and salsa before we had even sat down in the chairs! THAT is stellar service. Wish I could say how the food was at White Tomato. Didn't even have a...
