With many bakeries closing, I started going to Donut Star a year ago. Once or twice a week we get a dozen donuts and a dozen donut holes. Typically, you get one undercooked donut each week. I just tell my kids it’s cream filled; they still eat it. Today, the card machine was broken, so I had trouble paying. My order was $20.98 after tax. I planned on paying with a credit card, since I only had a $20. Since this did not satisfy them, I went through my car looking for change. I found a quarter! That still wasn’t enough. He wanted to take down my info and have me pay over the phone once the credit card machine worked again. Really? Been loyal, often leaving $5 tips, never complained when I was shorted or had raw donuts or when there is more frosting than donut. I was forced to leave my donut holes behind (the cinnamon type only comes on the holes). So, they still got a $5 tip because he didn’t even offer my change after subtracting the dozen donut holes. I will NEVER return. I will drive the extra miles to Banbury Cross

Highly recommended as a way to impress others. We compared several bakeries in the south valley and found donut star to be overall best. All their donuts had a nice crisp on the outside with a soft fluffy interior. It was our first time getting a cronut and thought it could pass as a sweet croissant, but an undersweetened donut. We probably wouldn’t pay the extra for it a second time. We also had an Oreo cream stuffed donut, a red velvet donut, and their super large yeast donut. I thought the huge donut would be just a larger version of the typical glazed, but it was much much more in terms of the texture of the inner donut - definitely would buy again. The taste comparison between all brands was a regular glazed plain yeast and a sugared cake. These were by far better than comparison (with the exception of glaze yeast to Krispy Kreme - that seemed to be the groups top and Donut Star was a very close second). Very impressive unique presentation and taste!!

Referred by foodie friends to come here as they know I love me a good cronut! Had to stop by and "investigate". We were warmly greeted and they had a great selection of donuts, not to mention their cronuts - they were really TALL! I was impressed by its presentation! The donuts were really good, and their cronut was decent. Although they were not as "fluffy soft" as I thought they would be. Hubby said they were actually even better if you stick them in the microwave for a few seconds and then indulge in it. Sadly, I ate mine without warming it up so I will have to come back and try it nuked up. I love me a good donut shop, and this place is definitely one of them. I'll have to come back and try their other delicacies besides their donuts and cronuts!

Don't place orders with them. They don't care if they mess up. I placed my order two weeks in advance of our event. Order 36 round pink and blue glazed donuts and ended up with 36 bar donuts. Wouldn't have been an issue other than I had had custom decorations made for the round ones that wouldn't work on bars. So not only am I out the money i paid on the wrong donuts but also out the money i paid for the decorations. Their costumer service is horrible. I asked them to have the manager call me, never heard from her. When I ended up calling her she really could have cared less that I was not happy with what had happened. This will be the last time we order from these guys.

Update: Yes, the onwer reached out after I called and spoke to the manager. I feel ( this is my personal opinion) the only reason the owner reached out was because i called the manager (not her calling me like i asked for her to do). I don't feel the owner reached out to me because they felt bad about what had happened. I feel he reached out because i called and made a complaint to the manager. If you are sincerely apologic about what had happened I would think you would at least know the name of the person who placed the order and was making the complaint. How i know this is, the owner sent the message to my phone addressed to my husband not me. He didnt even know who he should have been talking with. The order and the request to be called were all under my name. They got my husband's name off the caller id from the phone call with the manager. If I hadn't called the manager, I doubt I would have heard from anyone. I was given a refund on my order yesterday. I received an apology from the person that made the mistake the morning he called me. Yes, it was human error. But I still didn't get what I ordered. I was not only out the little bit that they charged me for the wrong donuts but also out the money I spent on custom decorations I had made that didn't work on the donuts I received. With that being said I still stand...

I have never been treated so poorly as I was today by donut star. It is Father’s Day so understandably they may encounter issues but the staff was so rude I feel inclined to make sure the owners know how unacceptable it is. First I drove to the Draper location because online it said it was open, only to find a sign on the door saying it was closed and that we needed to go to the south Jordan location because it is open. My online order was then cancelled as I drove to the south Jordan location. When we arrived at SoJo a girl said “we are closed” even though the doors were open and there were donuts in the cases. I explained what happened and she was unsympathetic and said something like “we only have sprinkle donuts anyway.” Meanwhile I had to call out why I couldn’t buy the other donuts in the cases. Turns out I actually could buy them but she was too busy trying to shut the store and clean that she wouldn’t get them for me and made someone from the back come and get them. When I asked for two of the specialty cronuts she said “well those are $6 each” as if it would mean I wouldn’t want them. It felt like she was discouraging me so they wouldn’t have to serve me. They never apologized for any inconveniences or said thanks or have a good day after we finally did purchase. They weren’t kind in any way… and as we left my 11 year daughter said “mom why were they so rude to us.” All I can think is that there were complications in a busy day and the gal in charge was just so anxious to be done that she couldn’t see past getting things shut down enough to actually take care of longtime customers already in her store. It was shocking how rude we were treated when we had gone to great lengths just to get my husband his favorite treat for Father’s Day. And why wouldn’t they want to sell us the donuts in the cases? Yes it was limited what they had left, but they would just go to waste otherwise so why be so rude to people wanting...

Two pieces of feedback before I explain the 5 star review: First, I ordered a dozen donuts and a breakfast sandwich. After I ordered, I began waiting for my breakfast sandwich. A few minutes later, a man walked in and ordered a breakfast sandwich (the store was not busy). A few minutes later, he got his breakfast sandwich. I walked up to the counter and asked if mine was close. They didn't admit it, but they clearly forgot to make it. 10 minutes later, after about 15 minutes total, I got my breakfast sandwich. That's okay, mistakes happen. I do feel that in general managers need to be more willing to give employees the freedom to do more for customers when egregious mistakes are made (like completely just not making something a person ordered, making them wait 3 times longer than they should have), such as giving them a discount, giving money back, maybe a gift card, etc. The employees were great, apologetic, etc - I have no problem with them. But that didn't change the fact I was late to where I needed to be because they simply didn't make what I ordered until I reminded them.

Second, you guys really need to have the glazed raspberry filled donuts - they have the powdered raspberry filled, but if you're a donut shop, you HAVE to have the glazed kind. Every donut place, even grocery store donut areas have the glazed raspberry filled - yours would be amazing!

I gave five stars because the employees were great, very kind (my issue is more with management, tbh), etc. The breakfast sandwich - once I finally got it - was great. One of, if not the best breakfast sandwich, I've ever had. It was huge, made fresh (obviously, haha), and just really good.

The donuts are huge and the taste great.

Having to wait so long for my order, however, and not getting anything beyond an apology does make me wonder if I will be back as great as everything else was. Be better, managers - speaking generally, not just...
