Just want to give a huge shout out to Stacy, he was so helpful when we visited! We’re big fans of breakfast food, and had to make a reservation for a tour by 1:00, and our planned stop for breakfast was too busy. I had seen online that Duluth’s Best Bread was known for their croissants, a favorite food of mine, so they were a priority stop anyway. I was worried they were sold out, already bummed I didn’t get my most important meal of the day, so I called them to check. I explained I was a hangry New Jersian who just needed a buttery carb, please tell me yall got some of your famous croissants, and he cracked up. He said not to worry, they were stocked. When we showed up, he treated us to some extras, and we got a good laugh.
Now again, as a breakfast snob and specifically a croissant aficionado, I was blown away. How they heck do yall get that much butter in there?? Delicious, flaky, like a hug from the inside. We also grabbed a cinnamon sugar homemade pop tart and that was great too. Had we more time, we probably would have asked for them to be toasted, which I can imagine would only make the 9.9/10 experience a 10/10. But truthfully, Stacy’s kindness and generosity was such a bright spot in a clearly hectic morning, and really kicked off our day in Duluth with joy.

Read moreWow! Wow! Wow! I am in Duluth for a quick trip and randomly was looking for sourdough bread with clean ingredients. Duluth’s best bread came up And I LOVED their 4 ingredient bread notes online.
After reading the reviews, and seeing the owners commentary, I had to support this small business.
I confirmed with the staff that the sourdough starter is the base of all the goodies as well.
I got 1 country loaf, 2 croissants, 2 almond croissant, 2 pecan rolls and 1 blueberry danish. Haven’t had a croissant like that since I visited Paris over 17 years ago! The pecan cinnamon roll was beyond, way better than that place that shall not be named!
I should note I’m dairy and gluten free, quality sourdough does not affect my body like other garbage bread with 1 million ingredients. Which is why I was excited to try this place.
If I lived up here it would be extremely hard on my pocket books and my waistline. lol
I’ll be back before I leave to stock up on anything that will freeze well!
Ps my mom said, “best danish she’s EVER had!” That’s saying a lot seeing her dad, had Danish in...
Read moreThey do make good loaf bread, but I have to say that the quality of their pastries has been in steady decline over the past couple years. The croissants are almost always either stale (I imagine they sometimes sell day-olds without telling anyone) or underdone. The last several I have had have been soggy with grease, with a doughy inside and a weird chemical aftertaste. I used to work at a cafe that sold their croissants. After a few bad batches we finally spoke with Robert (one of the owners) and let him know what was going on, to which he responded “that’s not possible”. That was the end of that, and things never improved. I’m really glad we have so many small businesses like this in Duluth, but if you’re selling food to people and can’t take constructive criticism, what’s the point? If you want a good loaf of bread, this is the place. If you want a decent croissant or danish go to Positively...
