The food and friendly service at Kosta's has made it legendary over the generations. The food is literally made to order while you wait. So it can take maybe 10 minutes or so for the special which is two gryos and an order of fries or onion rings. So if you only have 30 minutes for lunch you may wish to plan around that. The advantage is that your food is extremely fresh. I usually order extra sauce but you almost don't need t since they give you a lot as it is. I am not Greek American so I cannot comment on authenticity of the food but I love it. I can comment on authenticity of the service and hospitality which is always warm and matter-of-fact, even when they are busy. The drinks in the cooler are ice cold and I love an ice cold Coca-Cola in a can for this sort of meal.
I gave only 3 stars for the atmosphere. It is immaculately clean. They have an innocuous news channel on from somewhere in Wisconsin that is mildly amusing. But it is definitely not a place where many folks would be thinking about for atmosphere. An exception is that very often nearby construction workers stop in and may choose to eat in rather than take out their food. The bathroom is ok. You need a key code to use it and it is functional and clean but a little beat up. They share it with other businesses in the building. If folks were on the road and wanted a stretch break or local folks wanted to have a quick business meeting it would be an ok place for that. The food and service are what is going to impress anyone. Not the atmosphere.
After the last time I was there someone remarked that they wished I had brought back some...
Read moreThe place is clean and the employees were good. This was my first time here, but I've eaten gyros for decades all over the place so I know what I'm looking for. Anyway, went in a little before noon and ordered a gyro with rings. While waiting I noticed there wasn't even a cone on the rotisserie. First red flag. Food came and I sat down to eat. Tried the rings first. Way too much batter, didn't eat many. Then noticed the huge amount of I think staight up sour creme on the sandwich. I'm used to a nice tzatziki that kind of melts into the hot, fresh meat. This was a cold heap that just sat there. A couple tomato slices that looked like they only use the ends and a few slices of onion. If the meat was ever hot, the mountain of sour creme took care of that. Not sure it was even gyro meat because all I could taste was sour creme. I had high hopes but this is a one and done for me. I'll stick with Coney Island. Miles away better. Gave a couple stars for a clean place, nice employees and good fountain soda. PS, as I left shortly after noon, they were just then putting cones on to...
Read morePlaced my order online for pickup in store on 9/26/25. Arrived at the restaurant to pickup my order and they are closed with a sign saying out of power. No problem I’ll call and sort things out when they are open. Tried calling 9/27,9/28 and they never answered voicemail not working. On 9/30 I call and get them to answer, I tell them the situation and the “manager” says call door dash. Well someone had to accepted the order and completed it as picked up for me to receive and email stating thank you for your order. To top it off the manager was rude and after I stated I’ll take my future business elsewhere he sternly says GOOD! Superior Kostas here I come, different owners hopefully much...
