A great little lunch option in DT Dunedin. Itās a ācoastal kitchenā but the owners have Cuban roots with Cuban inspired dishes.
They also specialize in local craft beer which is really cool. Iām not a huge beer fan but I give a 9.5 for the selection and variety. Impressive.
The food.
Itās not āauthenticā, but they donāt claim to be, which I love and respect. Itās a very key west/island/Caribbean twist on Cuban food, which works really nice (Hence the āCoastal Kitchenā. I got the Cuban bowl.
Chicken was delicious and nice and juicy. Black Beans were actually very authentic and delicious. They also lay on some pico, avocado ranch and cilantro lime rice which was amazing. Beans were a LITTLE watery and made the bowl a little messy, but Overall the bowl was delicious. And like I said, I love that they are who they are. Itās Cuban inspired, not Cuban food. Although, I havenāt tried the other Cuban dishes on the menu, so maybe that can change. Regardless, Respect for the menu.
I will come again. As a Cuban/American transplant from Miami, itās cool to have an option like this locally.
The bartender/waitress was insanely sweet and helpful. Made the experience that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur first visit after "intending" to stop in for a very long time. The Google reviews are accurate - friendly staff, simple but delicious entrees. Very fresh, very well presented. Surprisingly filling.
Was torn between a couple of the offerings, Graham suggested an off-menu "crossover" (that he said was his personal favorite), I upped the ante further with the addition of picked onions (which, if you're a fan, you have to try at M&M) and it was truly a great meal. My partner and I were actually somewhat stunned by how much we enjoyed the food!
Try the black-bean hummus - it was very "different" and a great starter.
Mango iced tea was on-point. Just enough sweetness yet not cloying.
While we didn't imbibe, there's enough variety in "adult beverages" that anyone should find something they like.
Unassuming, relaxed atmosphere - this place is all about the food.
We definitely plan to make this place a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood was amazing. We got two of their bowls (the Fire Roasted Bowl and Bahama Bowl). A lot of flavor. Not bland like some bowls are. Fire Roasted was nice and spicyā good heat level for someone who likes a heat kick.
One area I think they could improve the atmosphere is by adding some sound insulation/absorption to the ceiling/upper walls. I say this because the volume level in there can be very LOUD. Itās basically like a bar in terms of volume level. Admittedly it was on a Friday night when it was probably the busiest and with the most people drinking alchohol. The liveliness is great, but itās actually hard to hear the person sitting across from you because volume levels are so incredibly loud. This could be dampened with the right acoustic approach.
Other than that note, love the placeās food and I will be back for more. Perhaps...
