Truly disappointing experience due to inconsistent communication among the staff, and the mishandling of the situation by the manager, Alex, who lied to me and my friend and tried to place blame on us for information of which we did not know. My friend and I heard that the restaurant offered free drinks for women on Thursdays from 5–7 PM and we were excited to try it out. We arrived at 6:12:09 PM and were seated at 6:12:21 PM after a brief 12-second interaction with the host, where she confirmed that we were a party of two. This detail is important to note as it becomes relevant later. While waiting for our server I asked a passing server around 6:20 PM: Which drinks were free? She told me that all drinks, including margaritas, wines, draft beers etc., were free. Soon after, our assigned waitress came over, told us that she would bring us some water, and asked if we wanted to get any drinks started. We proceeded to place drink and food orders throughout the allotted happy hour time. We asked for our bill at 7:00PM and at 7:13PM the waitress returned and this is when we noticed we were being charged for our drinks. We asked why if the drinks were free and the waitress said no. Naturally, we were confused. We explained that we were told by a staff member that all drinks were free during Ladies’ Night, to which she replied, it was only true for customers seated at the bar. We told her that nobody had told us this, and she offered to bring her manager. This is where the experience took an unfortunate turn. The manager, Alex, came to our table and claimed that we were informed at the host stand that drinks were only free at the bar and that if we wanted to participate, we would have been given a wristband and a $1 pink cup. She even insisted that she personally told us this information when we asked if she remembered specifically speaking to us. I would like to reiterate here that we were seated in 12 seconds (I have video evidence). While it is true that Alex was standing behind the hostess when we arrived, at no point during that time did anyone, including Alex, speak to us beyond confirming our party size. We then asked if the staff had been trained to communicate the terms of the promotion because again, a server told us all drinks were free with no mention of needing to sit at the bar. Alex responded that because we were already seated, the server likely assumed we already knew the rules. If I’m asking about the details of a promotion, then by definition, I do not know the full requirements. The assumption that we should have already known, despite inquiring to get the full details for the prerequisites, felt extremely dismissive. When our server jumped into the conversation, she suggested we should have asked her directly since she was not the server that we first asked. However, by the time she arrived, we thought we had already received the relevant information from the member of staff. Additionally, at any well-run restaurant, it’s customary for servers to inform guests of current specials or promotions, especially time-sensitive ones. Whether it be a soup of the day or a chef's special, it would have been appropriate and helpful for her to mention the promotion as we were placing our drink orders. In the end, we were given a 10% discount ($7 off a $108.05 bill). I just want to say that it should never be the customer’s responsibility to pull accurate information out of every staff member they encounter. At the end of the night, we were left feeling misled. Although the restaurant environment was initially enjoyable, our experience was ultimately tainted by the way this issue was handled. It left a lasting impression to the point where I am unlikely to return or recommend this...
Read moreI’m a resident and Ive come here quite a few times. You might get good service or you might get treated like crap. Its inconsistent. If you’re not in the mood to be disappointed, don’t waste your time. You don't have to suffer the abuse there are more consistent restaurants in the area. I will come back to a restaurant if the food is off but the service is great.
Agave is for sure on the list of Atlanta restaurants that only cares about taking your money and not providing the quality of experience that you’re paying for. Keep reading for the full story..
Came to have a few drinks with my cousin. I’ve been here before, but the bartender that we know is consistent wasn’t present. Everything was fine until it started raining. We had to come inside because it was pouring, so we asked our bartender, Alex, if we could sit at the high top inside. She said yes, so we headed over to sit down. After a few minutes, another staff member came over and said we couldn’t sit there because it was reserved. Confused, we told her we were told we can sit there. She became very short with us which was weird because she was very nice at first, so we asked to speak to another manager.
Keisha came over and explained to us that basically our only option was to leave or get on a waiting list for a table. It seemed like that was just their policy there for situations like that. I thought it was incredibly absurd that it was no way they could accommodate the guest they already have. She already preauthorized my card. We already waited for bar seating because it was first come first served. She said we can close out or she will take care of it. I explained to her that I felt disregarded but I understand that her hands were tied if that is the protocol for Agave in situations like this. She apologized but she was just doing her job I guess. That doesn't make it right, the Agave corporation needs to be accountable for this if thats the case.
As we were waiting for the check, Alex came back over to tell us we needed to move. It was a crowded restaurant the only option was to go outside in the rain. So we left in the pouring rain. I will never return to Agave again. That was the most inconsiderate display of a customer service I have ever experienced. I’m literally soaking wet lol I cant...
Read moreI’m writing to share my disappointment with the service my friend and I received during our visit on July 11.
We were initially seated at a high-top near the bar just to order drinks. Once my friend arrived, we ordered two skinny margaritas with Tajín. The server acknowledged the order and walked away.
After 30 minutes with no drinks, she returned — not with our order, but to ask if we’d “like any appetizers before she puts those drinks in”. We politely declined food and reiterated we were just waiting on our drinks. She never returned after that despite us seeing her standing around at the bar and walking around as if she had nothing to do.
We had now been waiting over 40 minutes, so we moved to the bar when two seats opened up. We told the bartender what happened, and he was shocked we had waited so long. He made our drinks in under two minutes.
Soon after, we overheard the table behind us — who had the same server — also complaining to a manager. The manager’s tone with them was argumentative , but we still decided to give feedback. We asked if she was the manager, and she replied, “Yeah, I am.” We explained the delay and that we’d never received our original drinks. Instead of an apology, she said the server was new and that “patience is appreciated,” then quickly walked away.
My friend and I were both shocked by how dismissive and unprofessional her response was. About 10 minutes later, after we were already sipping the drinks we’d gotten from the bartender, the manager returned and handed us two margaritas — the ones we’d originally ordered nearly an hour prior — saying, “These have just been sitting down there at the bar.” Again, there was no apology or effort to improve our experience. If anything, it made things worse.
To top it off, we were charged for all six drinks — including the two we never received at our table and that had clearly sat unserved for a long time.
Our frustration isn’t just about the delay. It’s about the lack of accountability, the poor handling of our concerns, and how dismissively we were treated by someone in a...
