Hyatt Place at Perimeter was at a prime location: all the dining and shopping in the area, it was halfway from our family in the suburbs and Atlanta where we went to tour and see friends, and there was a MARTA just a short walk from the hotel. We booked it through Booking.com which was nice. Perks include having free garage parking as well! The hotel room itself was beautiful. It all looked so new. We were on the 9th floor and the views were good. I for sure felt very relaxed and I was able to catch up on my sleep!
Now, to the bad stuff. Unfortunately, our stay could have been so much better. We were there Sun-Wed, a total of 3 nights. The staff was very lacking. We waited almost an hour after check-in time (3 PM) before we got to our room. At first, they said it was gonna take 15 minutes and then just come back up to the front desk to check in. Sure, we can wait for that. But when we came up after the time passed, they said it was going to be a while until we get checked in because there were 140 guests checking out. While I understand that that can be a busy time, that is unacceptable. Especially since we booked this months in advanced, etc. We were so tired then so we just was like whatever. They didn't even try to make it right.
Fast forward to asking for cleaning. Since COVID, more and more hotels are limiting their cleaning service. This one was too. We were only allowed one cleaning our entire stay. Totally fine with us. They just ask us to call before 12 to get it done that day. We called on Monday morning (9 am) to get the room freshened up after our long days Sunday and Monday. We got back to the hotel past 11 then and to our disappointment, our room wasn't 'cleaned'. We were very disappointed. We wanted to complain and talk to someone but when my boyfriend went downstairs, all we got was "I don't know, I just got here.". We let this one go too cause we were so tired. The next morning, we called and said we requested cleaning and ours wasn't cleaned. The front desk woman asked what kind of cleaning we needed... uhm? I don't know, beds made? Fresh towels? Like the normal stuff that came with our stay? She literally asked us to enumerate what we needed to be .. ugh. Thank god it was cleaned when we got back from another long day that Tuesday.
Goes to show that all the new things and nice decorations mean NOTHING if the customer service in a customer service-heavy industry is lacking.
I hope they see this and improve their customer service and operations cause this was a really...
Read moreI checked in June 21st in the evening and the lady running the front desk was extremely unprofessional. I am describing her because I didn’t catch her name. She is tall, bigger, African American who seems to run the evening shifts. She accused me of parking in the garage (when the garage only opens with a code they generate per guest and there is no magic way of getting a gate open) then she started yelling at me and saying she will charge $30 otherwise she won’t check me in (which she ended up charging). I said she doesn’t have rights to not check me in I haven’t done anything wrong. She said I am lying, I parked in the garage and that she will call the police. I really thought this isn’t reality. I asked her if she is having a bad day and using me as a punching bag?
I stayed here numerous times and the service was always good, but she was running the front desk as we are in the hood. I asked for the manager. She said she won’t call him because he is going to have her back anyways and not check me in. Luckily after I persisted she called him and he came and checked me in. I believe his name was Lamar and he was a very reasonable and nice person. He seen that I was behaving in a civil manner and haven’t done anything wrong so he proceeded checking me in because she was refusing. That being said, not sure why she was so certain that the manager was going to side with her irrational and uncivil behavior?
My workers and I like staying here when we visit because it is close to our office. Unfortunately we need to avoid this place until she is gone. She made a HUGE scene. I felt like a criminal. I called put a complaint in with the corporate they apologized said I will get a call back but I never did. Such a shame they are running this hotel down with such employees. A lady noticed her behavior and seen me at the hallway..she was so apologetic saying she couldn’t believe what she seen and she won’t be staying there again either. This was an embarrassing incident for all parties involved. Not something I was looking forward to after a 12 hour work day. I had to keep my door locked …was feeling unsafe around her but didn’t have energy to find another hotel...
Read moreWe booked this hotel to explore and celebrate New Years in Atlanta. We checked into the room and everything seemed fine at first sight, but while walking around the room, I stepped on a piece of glass and bled badly. We soon discovered there were glass shards hidden all over the rug and near the couch area.
My boyfriend went down to the front desk, but there was only one staff member on site handling everything. After finally being able to come up to assist us, the staff member didn’t know where the vacuum was and tried to sweep up the glass pieces from the rug and surrounding floor. Even after he left, my boyfriend still had to manually sweep up additional pieces using a towel because the broom didn't capture everything.
He told us that the hotel was completely booked for the night and we couldn’t get a room change until we spoke to the manager the next day, so we were forced to stay in the room that night knowing that whoever cleaned the place did not do a thorough job at all. It ruined our night as we were looking to finally get some rest that day but had to be extremely cautious in a room we were not comfortable in. I was given bandaids by the staff member but the cut was deep enough that it was painful to walk around.
The next day, my boyfriend was able to speak to the manager and they told us that they would issue us credit and change us to a different room. We got the room change, but we never received the credits like they said they would. It has been a full week since we checked out and we still have not received anything.
We are highly disappointed in our experience as we had booked this place due to their generally good reviews. Cleanliness and staff support need serious improvement. I'm giving one star for the staff member who was solo onsite during a very busy time of the year. He tried his best to help us.
UPDATE: It's been over two months (March) and we still haven't gotten our hotel credit as promised. I even looped in corporate and they have not...
