Bassett Furniture — Local services in Dunwoody

People, I strongly advise that you do your research prior to purchasing anything from Bassett Furniture. We purchased the Beckham sectional in the Performance Fabric (Straw) and less than a year later, the sectional looks as though it's several years old. Our major concern is that Bassett advertises that their Performance Fabrics are not only durable but easy to clean which is the furthest thing from the truth.

Simply put, bottled water was spilled on the fabric and we now have huge water stains on the sectional that cannot be removed. We carefully followed the care instructions and attempted to clean the stains with a solvent but unfortunately that was a fail. We even had an upholstery cleaning company come out, but we were told that if the stains were caused by water adding a water-based cleaning solution could potentially lead to additional staining / damage, so it was recommended that we contact the furniture company to file an insurance claim. So – we decided to do just that, and we contacted Guardsman to submit a claim.

To say the least, the claim process with Guardsman has been quite cumbersome and frustrating. Basically, after submitting the claim we were sent a bottle of cleaning solution which did absolutely nothing and to be frank we found it utterly insulting after paying over $5,000 for a sectional. The claim was filed in late September and over a month later we are still waiting for a technician to come out and assess the damage. We purchased the Gold Complete Protection plan for $500 which covers fabrics up to 1 year. We are still within the 1 year period (furniture received in Dec 2020) so we’re not quite sure why the process has been so drawn out and strenuous, but it has made us sincerely regret our purchase. We went to Bassett furniture for the first time in 2021. We were excited to replace our sectional couch that had lived a great life, but needed to move on to Goodwill.

We went to the perimeter location and purchase a very expensive couch. It was over our budget, but we figured that we needed to pay extra for quality. We even purchased the guardsman warranty that the sales person highly recommended. She told us the warranty was amazing and they would replace the couch no questions asked if we purchased it. We were like hell. Who wouldn’t buy the warranty to know you were covered for 7 years. We have a child and thought it was a great investment.

The couch comes home and we “like” it at first. Within a year, the couch starts to pill like the couch as a five o’clock shadow. I called guardsman. I could get no one to answer the phone. The website told me to become my own litigator and take pictures and download it on the website. Again, I was like nothing to worry about. Then I get the response, a month later. Your claim was denied. We couldn’t believe it. We felt very confused due to the couch was over $5k.

I called customer service, thinking there must be some type of misunderstanding. The phone call was disconnected. I called the store. The lady was very nice, but basically told me to invest in a shaver. Guardsman plan doesn’t cover pilling.

You would think Bassett furniture would last longer than something I would have bought from Target. I do not recommend buying any furniture over a certain amount or the warranty plan as it was not helpful. Very...

My husband was transferred to Atlanta and we needed furniture within a couple of months since we hadn’t moved yet. We’ve had such success with Bassett in Texas, which was my favorite store, we decided to give Bassett a try again. Stopped at the Bassett Perimeter store on a rainy day after searching for the perfect home and met John. Mentioned to John that we’re completely changing the esthetic of our house here in Atlanta to a Farmhouse style and what our dilemma was. He was up for the challenge. We needed items for a new living, dining, office, guest room and master bedroom. The whole kit and caboodle from floor to ceiling! John was able to come to the house to get an idea of what we envisioned and he went to work choosing rugs, furniture, curtains, bedding and accessories. John has a magnificent eye for color combinations, attention to detail, so friendly and professional to work with and his design knowledge far exceeded our expectations. Once we moved everything was delivered within the same week, which we didn’t expect. Always getting tons of compliments from visitors on how the look is streamlined and clean.
