I wish I could be writing this review about a fantastic dining experience, but unfortunately, our visit to Culinary Dropout turned into an absolute nightmare. What happened to a member of our group is something no one should ever have to experience in a restaurant.

While enjoying their curry, they bit into their food and immediately went pale—they had just eaten glass. Not just a tiny shard, but multiple pieces, one of which cut open the inside of their mouth. Understandably, they were in immediate pain and panicked about the possibility of having swallowed glass.

What happened next was almost as disturbing as the glass in the food. As soon as we alerted the server, they rushed to remove the plate from the table as fast as possible—almost like they wanted to get rid of the evidence before anyone could fully grasp the severity of the situation. Thankfully, a photo was taken before they whisked it away. I’ve attached the image here—you can see the glass shards in the food, along with the larger, sharper ones that, thankfully, weren’t ingested. Had another bite been taken, this could have ended in emergency surgery instead of just the ER.

While management had them fill out an incident report and comped the meal, their concern seemed more focused on protecting their restaurant’s reputation than on ensuring their guest was okay. They verbally assured that medical expenses would be covered. That was a lie.

They had to leave the lunch around noon to go to urgent care, where they were then referred to the emergency room for X-rays to ensure they hadn’t ingested more glass. They didn’t get home until nearly 12 hours later. The cost of medical care quickly added up, with urgent care and a hospital visit resulting in thousands of dollars in expenses. After the incident, they repeatedly attempted to contact the restaurant to discuss the promised coverage of medical bills, only to be met with empty reassurances and outright avoidance. No one from Culinary Dropout has followed up or taken accountability.

To add insult to injury, the restaurant gave everyone in our group a $50 gift card—which, while a nice gesture in general, does absolutely nothing to make up for what happened. The pain, trauma, lost work time, and medical bills are worth far more than a PR band-aid. It’s now been over a month, and the restaurant has done absolutely nothing to make this right.

This should have never happened in the first place. But even more concerning is how Culinary Dropout handled (or rather, failed to handle) the aftermath. This wasn’t a minor issue—it was a serious health and safety hazard that could have ended with permanent damage or worse. If this is how they respond to a major food safety failure, it makes me wonder what other corners they’re cutting.

I would strongly caution anyone considering dining here. If an incident like this happens to you, don’t expect them to take responsibility or do the right thing. And honestly, after seeing their negligence firsthand, I don’t trust their kitchen’s safety standards at all.

Any guest deserves better. Culinary Dropout needs to make this right.

I had a very unfortunate experience at this restaurant that management has not handled in a respectable manner. I dined at this restaurant for the first time with a group of co-workers for a work lunch outing. We were all enjoying our meal and having a nice experience when one of my colleagues discovered she had glass shards in her food. She had already ingested some of her meal at this point and discovered the glass as it punctured her mouth. We alerted our server who alerted the manager Skylar that was on duty that day. They were very quick to remove the dish...perhaps to try and remove any evidence of the broken glass in food. And then it was about 10 minutes before management came back to address the situation. They did comp our meal; however, my colleague was worried about the possibility of having ingested some of the glass and also had an open wound in her mouth from it. They had her complete an incident report before leaving and promised that management would be in touch with her to discuss further and make sure any medical expenses arising from this were covered. My colleague went on to urgent care and was then referred by urgent care to emergency care at a local hospital. She has made several attempts to contact the restaurant and keeps getting the runaround. She has received promises that management will contact her when she has reached out, but has not heard anything back from any manager at the restaurant. The incident was over a month ago. While their initial handling of the situation seemed somewhat promising, the lack of concern and communication afterwards gives the appearance that any gesture of goodness offered that day was to preserve their image while we were physically there in the restaurant so as not to cause any scene or alarm to other customers. The dodgy attitude after the fact and not holding to a commitment to make this situation right is beyond disappointing. For that reason alone...I would NOT go back here.....not to mention that you might get your mouth sliced up from glass...

This restaurant has shown a complete lack of accountability and basic human decency in handling a serious and dangerous situation. I came here for a work lunch with colleagues, and what should have been a normal meal turned into a nightmare when one of my coworkers found glass shards in her food—after she had already eaten part of it. She only realized what was happening when the glass cut the inside of her mouth.

We immediately flagged down our server, who got the manager on duty, Skylar. Instead of showing real concern, they quickly whisked the plate away—almost like they were trying to get rid of the evidence. It then took over 10 minutes for anyone from management to even come back and address the situation. They comped our meal, but my colleague was left with an open wound in her mouth and the terrifying possibility that she had swallowed glass. She was asked to fill out an incident report and was explicitly promised that management would follow up to ensure her medical expenses were covered.

She had to go to urgent care, which then sent her to the emergency room. Since then, she has reached out multiple times, only to be given the runaround. Each time, she was promised that someone from management would call her back—but no one ever did. It has now been over a month, and this restaurant has done absolutely nothing to make the situation right.

At first, it seemed like they were handling the situation appropriately, but now it’s clear that their actions were just an attempt to cover their tracks and avoid making a scene in front of other guests. Their refusal to take responsibility is beyond disgusting. This isn’t just bad customer service—it’s a complete failure to do the right thing after endangering someone’s health.

I would never eat or visit here again, and I strongly warn others to stay away. If they can be this careless about something as serious as glass in food, imagine what else...

I have been to the Culinary Drop out in the downtown location, as well as the location in Charlotte, NC. After doing a little shopping at perimeter mall I was in need of a bite to eat and figured I would check out this location. Upon my arrival a staff greeted me and mentioned that someone would be with me shortly. After waiting for about 5 minutes another staff approached and apologized for the wait and did seat me. This was interesting because there were very few patrons in the restaurant, but a ton of staff on duty. Once I was seated my wait staff did come over quickly to greet me as well as take my drink order. I ended up having just a cup of water, the black truffle mushroom pizza, and the Brussel sprouts. The food came out in decent time. Admittedly I have had the pizza at the Charlotte location and must admit it was better there. The Brussels were ok, but I would not have to have them again. While the service started off rough, it did improve during my dinning experience. However, I don’t feel like the food is consistent across locations. I think I will stick with the downtown location that I fell in love with.

Culinary Dropout in Sandy Springs completely blew us away! The environment was absolutely beautiful—chic, vibrant, and welcoming. From the moment we walked in, the service was top-tier. Every staff member we encountered was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. We started with the Prosciutto Deviled Eggs and the Soft Pretzels with Provolone Fondue—both were packed with flavor and set the tone for an incredible meal. My husband ordered the Fried Chicken with a buttermilk biscuit, smashed potatoes, and gravy. It was comforting, crispy, and cooked to perfection. The right amount of saltiness. I had the Mongolian Short Rib with charred scallion, broccolini, a soft egg, crispy rice, and Thai chili—it was bold, unique, and absolutely unforgettable. Every bite was perfection. The Sangria was also a standout—refreshing and perfectly balanced. Out of hundreds of restaurants I've tried, this one ranks at the very top of my list. If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience in Atlanta, Culinary Dropout is a must. We will definitely be back!
