Had an amazing dinner last night! Got a table for 8 to celebrate my beautiful new wife and my marriage, and wound up bringing a 9th person who they accommodated for us. They gave a free non-alcoholic drink to the whole table on the house. The Tuesday for 2 deal is so great to be able to go to a fancy restaurant and while you are spending a lot, $150 for two people is relatively cheap considering you get two salads, two sides and two deserts, which at most restaurants as nice as Flemming would come out to much more than $150. The 35oz Tomahawk steak was super tender and delicious, a huge treat for a steak lover who loves quantity over quality, though the quality is still very very high. My wife had the fillet minting (we added this as only one entree is included in the Tuesday deal) the filet is definitely quality over quantity but coming in at 12oz it is still very big for a fillet mining at the price you would normally get for only 8oz, it is even more tender and flavorful than the tomahawk, the biggest downside is my wife only let me have a few bites as it was delicious. For me I prefer size so the Tomahawk was definitely the way to go. The fries were actually really well seasoned, and the lava cake desert was a chocolate explosion with delicious ice cream. I do wish they informed guests ahead of time it takes 20mins to prepare so I could order it as I finish my meal instead of finishing my meal then wait 20 more minutes. It didn't bother me because I was surrounded by the people I love most, but if you are rushed for time could force you to order something else. Haley was our server and she was amazing. She went above and beyond, explaining the menu perfectly, there when we needed her, and added so much to my wife and my big special day. She even told us she never gets to be the server for big parties and special events like wedding celebrations, and it was an honor to accommodate us. It helps knowing it actually means a lot to the person serving you to be happy to do so, and a huge thank you to Haley, who should definitely be given more special events as she only adds to them and makes them more special. The only thing I told the table was this and my brother and his wife all agreed. As delicious as the steak was, my wife somehow makes it better! So Flemming taught me my wife can outshine even the best steak chefs in Atlanta. Overall amazing dinner and evening to an amazing day. Thank you Flemming and...
Read moreI wanted to celebrate a special occasion as did my wife so we chose to head to Flemming's having heard great things. We arrived a bit earlier than our reservation and were greeted at the door by the hostess. She seemed almost annoyed that we were there, and just grabbed menus and sat us. That was strange. Our server came over and introduced herself. She was very kind and welcoming. We chose the surf and turf Sunday special and they set about preparing our meal. We were one of two other parties in the whole restaurant. When our drinks arrived we noticed a clear lipstick imprint from where it had been drank from before and not washed properly. They apologetically replaced her glass.
Our food then arrived. While eating our cesar salads, the same hostess sat another party right behind us and they received a whole different welcome, banter, kindness, the lot. Then their server showed up and were offered complimentary champagne in honor of their celebration that they had mentioned in their reservation. My wife and I had as well, yet nothing like that was even mentioned. Not even our special occasion as the other party was. The atmosphere was a little off. The restaurant had the most random assortment of 90s r&b, 1940s jazz, 00s pop hits playing. Not bad in and of itself, but it was something we noticed. Otherwise everything else was serviceable. The food was the absolute star here. The main filets we received were each cooked nearly perfectly. The surf part of the meal, golden king crab legs were dry. The crab itself was fine, but they are presented to you as half of a normal leg and the outer layer of crab was rubbery and a bit chewy. It was a shame considering both the price and caliber or restaurant this is. The Flemming potatoes we got were hot and bubbly on the outside and a bit room temp inside. They were alright. The dessert, gooey butter cake, was very rich and not overly sweet, a real highlight.
Overall, it was just alright. My wife and I were honestly let down overall as we have other steak houses closer to home that we like. It just wouldn't be worth the drive from Gwinnett to this location. It's a shame because we went here to celebrate but left having enjoyed parts of our meal but were very disappointed in others. I expected more polish overall and that is really a shame. I don't think we will...
Read moreFine food, but the service was uncomfortable and disappointing. It was definitely one of those nights when the new hires take the floor, as it was clear the new hostess was learning the table numbers. While she originally guided me to the bar initially, the new host gladly adjusted and brought me to my table once I mentioned I wanted a booth. This was fine, she was sweet. But, when it came to the dinner service, the group at the bar seemed distracted by their own stories of adventures or a bad day that seeped into their work. I understand that camaraderie is essential for this business, but everyone seemed distracted. It wasn't busy and I'm generally easy going and don't ever ask for much. At times, I felt asking for a small request to be bothersome, (I just wanted a couple limes). I asked for my steak to be put out early so I could have more time to think about sides as I ate. Two things happened, the served shuffled away before I was able to add a sauce to my steak...and...it was clear my steak was not put in because it ended up coming much much later when I eventually decided to order a side.
To be clear, the food was fine. I got my steak medium, but next time I'll do medium rare since some portions felt a bit overdone. The Mac was great. The sauce was loose, but after cooling further, I was actually surprised at how well the mac and cheese was. The sauce for my steak was pleasant--the horseradish was a star and was well supported.
I never got a refill on my water. The bread was thrown on the table with a few mumbling words I could barely make out. I wanted dessert, but by the time I finished my meal, I felt I had overstayed or was in the way.
Maybe it was my appearance (I had a hoodie on with some sweats). I checked for a dress code before, to make sure I didn't disturb the vibe... I don't know. Maybe it was an off day. Next time I'd get delivery...
