They have the best oysters: compact and crunch!
We also have the crab cake, flavorful but could use a bit more salt. When the male staff came to clean, (why do I feel that he's the owner?) and asked how's everything, I gently suggested that bit more salt might make it pop up and out. He takes my comment positively - I don't give advice face to face because fearing my Chinglish might rub the business/people the wrong way. But seeing the enthusiasm of the young staff, which is contagious, I boldly suggested.
It's the second wine bar of the night. Theirs is a narrow two stories shop, that opened 11 weeks ago (did I get the number right?) with an upbeat youthful vibe. All the staff came by our table, sounded and looked genuine - thank you.
The ground level has 4 modern paintings and top level has a large window looking out to Main Ave and couple of small skylights.
Like their stems - Riedel. Pinot Noir is yummy.
The oysters ... theirs are from Puget Sound in Seattle, flew in twice or three times a week. The restaurant offers two kinds, salty and sweet. (... hope I get these info right) I chose the salty one. maybe we'll return tomorrow to have the sweet ones.
I've been to Seattle quite few times but couldn't remember how delicious their oysters are. Senile. Well, reportedly, Pacific Northwest oysters are known for their diverse flavors and textures. They certainly are different from, say, like the Little Neck in New York...
Read moreWe heard about the new Oye Restaurant a few weeks ago and went there last Saturday night for an awesome dinner. We entered the beautifully remodeled restaurant, that included gorgeous artwork, incredible tables & chairs and a wonderful ambiance! We were initially greeted by our server who welcomed us in, took us to our table at the back of the restaurant and explained the menu to us. She came back a few minutes later to see if we had any questions, which she answered and then took our drink order. Minutes later she took our food order and brought out a dish or two at a time which was so terrific for the small plates we were sharing. The menu had great food choices, it was so different and delicious, incredible drink menu, and the pricing was perfect. The owner Brandon came over to the table to see if we had enjoyed our dinner and we had a wonderful conversation with him about his ideas for the future of the restaurant and increasing the hours from just dinner to lunch and dinner as it gets closer to summer. We have already told many people about this outstanding new “Foodie Restaurant” so looking forward to...
Read moreMy wife and I came here on our honeymoon and instantly fell on love with the place. We sat upstairs in a cozy couch and were immediately greeted by our amazingly knowledgeable server. We ended up trying almost everything on the menu and every dish we got was absolutely incredible. We both don't drink alcohol and we're delighted to find a variety of mocktails available and each one we tried was outstanding. The food came out so quickly and the oysters we had tasted so fresh it was like we had them right off the boat. The owner came and talked to us and it was obvious that he has a true passion for his craft and cares about the people that come to enjoy his creations. I would highly recommend this place to everyone, whether to simply enjoy a nice dinner or looking for a wonderful date night. This will definitely be a place we come to whenever we get the chance and look forward to whatever amazing new dishes...
