My sister had made reservations online about eating outdoors and we were told that the staff can't see the comments in the Google seat reservation? Ok then why have that if you can't use it correctly! So then it was one reason to go there to sit outside on beautiful Mother's Day, and now we are inside!
Then the Mother's Day menu is wayyyyyyyyy over priced for the selections on the menu and comes with soup salad and desert bar. So before getting the bar I went to look at it. It was some romaine lettuce, few toppings, dressings... no soup, and some cinnamon rolls as desert? Def wasn't paying $8 for that!
My husband ordered one Sam Adams and it was not a Sam Adams and was charged for two when he only got one. I didn't catch that until after we paid
Finally figure out what I'd like to eat! We get apps that were great! My son got the mushroom Ragu and it tasted rancid and just cheap cooking wine. He sent that back and got a Alfredo flatbread came out super quick and he liked that. My husbands rib-eye delmonico came out well done not med rare like he asked! And had the asparagus and sweet mash like he asked! It's was like all the hot food was sitting under a warmer for wayyyyy to long! The steak went back 10 or so mins later his new steak came out super rare (pictured below) and next photo is the insane amount of gristle! The steak was $34 I mean that's a lot to have that come out! The steak was also sent with regular mash and green beans not what he asked for. My moms shrimp dish was also supposed to be served hot and was lukewarm warm at best! The salads looked good that my other family members got! Guess I should stick with salad. The server was kind and helpful, but seemed super busy and we had to wait for drink refills but she was good!
I got to speak to the manager who did take off the mushroom dish and my husbands steak from our bill and he was very kind and respectful. So overall was not an especially nice Mother's Day meal out! :/ to be honest last Mother's Day we went and seemed similar! So prob won't be going back to Loxleys! Sad because it's cool environment but the food seems crazy overpriced for not...
Read moreWe had one of the poorest restaurant experiences we have had in long time tonight at Loxley's. Let me start by saying the outdoor dining areas are beautiful and a great place to enjoy a pleasant evening. While tonight was a pleasant night for sitting on their expansive patio/deck, there wasn't much else that was pleasant, although I will give a shout out to one hostess or perhaps she was a manager who, when hearing that we would not be able to sit upstairs where they planned to seat us because my parents couldn't navigate the stairs, was very nice about seating us on the ground floor patio area. She also did tell us when we arrived that it may be an hour until we get our food... well, what were we supposed to do? We had a 7 PM reservation for 8 people - where else were we going to go for dinner?
It became clear that something was off tonight and we all wondered why they even took our reservation in the first place, which I had made earlier in the day, if they were not able to provide the service. Our waitress did greet us fairly promptly and got our drinks, but then it did take over an hour to even get our appetizers. The appetizers were good, but nothing terribly special. It took another 20 minutes to get our dinners after that - almost 2 hours after our reservation time. The dinners were not very good - dry flatbreads, flavorless soups, dry ribs and burgers - generally just blah. I did like my tomato soup and another member of our party liked their shrimp...
I will say this also - it was a very strange atmosphere with people tailgating in the parking lot and multiple visibly intoxicated patrons. When we pulled in to the parking lot, we were confused by the tailgaters and the number of people that were in and around the restaurant.
Not really sure what was happening, but management needs to revisit their reservation policy and work on ensuring that people can be served promptly and that food is delivered fresh and hot. This place seems to be more about drinking than eating and I don't think we'll be back...
Read moreI've gone twice and Joy was our waiter each time. She was great, attentive and super sweet! I would not complain if she was my waiter there in the future as you can tell she really cares about the guests. She went out of her to make sure we were/I was good. The host that greeted me when I arrived the second time was funny and he had an awesome personality (I wish I remembered his name).
Food was good and a decent sized serving for the menu price. It came out fast each visit. The first time was better for the flavor of the food. I didn't write the review months ago so forgive me as I fogot what I ordered. It was an appetizer and sandwich and my niece shared the appetizer and got her own sandwich.
The second time I was solo for dinner. I had a great tempura shrimp appetizer but the entree was so-so. I wanted to like it more but couldn't. It was the special of honey sriracha chicken skewers. More hot but tasted no honey...tasted more "buffalo sauce like." Maybe the honey was to be added after they grilled it so the sugar in it didn't burn but it was never added. Seasonal mixed veggies were fresh but too "crisp" like they were barely cooked and rice had zero flavor. Salt on the table helped until I could doctor it up at home. Joy did get me another serving of my veggies but I told her not to worry about the rice. I was pretty full from the shrimp I ate and the complimentary bread she brought to me.
I would definitely visit again. Oh! Big bonus is the options for indoor and outdoor seating. I did eat indoors both times but did walk through the outdoor seating including going up top in the tree house type area and it's actually pretty cool looking up there.
PS The 3 star rating I gave for the food was based between the 2 visits. I would have easily given it a 4 if my entree was better on the...
