Pretty darn good pizza joint/Actual Real Italian restaurant. Our waitress Becky was absolutely the best! Total professional! We all got dinners (3 of us). Dinners here are a huge step above a basic pizza place. Honestly just get that out of your mind, that it's a pizza joint. This is more traditional RI/SE MA Italian restaurant then a pizza place. The sauce is awesome!!! The pasta was cooked really good, like it should be. It was served in a traditional style with the dish/dinner baked in a platter, and the pasta on the side. With the sauce poured over the top of the pasta, and it was NOT watery at all! The flavors are strong. They're not shy with the salt, or sugar. But they do it right. RI style!
We want to go back, and try the pizza for sure, because of this experience, and recommendations of other diners. That's how good it was. And I am honestly kind of embarrassed as, A true RI'er(!), that I've never eaten here in the past.
They give really good bread with the meals too, like real RI style Italian bread, just what we expect here (in RI) (no BS!). The salad that came with the M, T, W special was very good (again what we expect here, in RI), as was 1000 Island dressing, served on the side without asking (another bonus, because I often forget to ask, but prefer it). I'll assume this is the normal salad they serve with their meals, if you pay $2.50 extra. Bear in mind. Not many places even have that option available nowadays, and if they do. It's a lot more then $2.50. Plus it's basically a rip off. This came with lettuce, cabbage, onion, carrot, cucumber, tomato, the whole frikkin NINE!
Hell! Even the mix on the damn fountain soda (Sierra Mist), that I don't normally order, was right. I'm not trying to say that this is the second coming of the old Twin Oaks. But I'm saying they've got it right. If you're a real Rhode Islander, or you want to show a person from another part of the country how we roll. You'll love this place. Huge portions of great food, served in a way that we expect in this area. And while I can't comment for the rest of the service there. I have to say it again. Becky was absolutely AWESOME! A complete professional who met our every need without one wasted movement, WHILE taking care of many other tables! They're very lucky to have her. If I had a restaurant. I would totally poach her!*
*And probably their recipes too, if I could. Lol
To be clear. Only 5 star restaurants get 5 stars from me, and no Italian/pizza joint anywhere is a 5 star restaurant. So 4 stars is my highest, and honestly they're 4.2, or so IMO. But please remember I take price into account too. So overall, 3.3, but taking price into account. 4.2-4.3 stars IMHO. Bearing in mind that at this level those last point 7 stars really matter. Which should be translated into you just trying them yourself. We drove 45 minutes in the rain both ways, and we're so glad we did. Especially with the service Becky gave. She's a treasure!
I just read that again, and I feel ill confuse some people. So let me try to clarify here. Only a true 3 star Michelin (that's in Europe), or real 5 star restaurant here will get a 5 star from me. Whereas other people will give 5 star to their favorite pizza joint. That's not how this is supposed to work. You can't say a pizza joint can compare with a fancy restaurant. So you have to leave wiggle room hence 4 stars. So for this type of restaurant. They get 4.2, but in the grand scheme of the restaurant scene they get 3.3 out of 5 IMHO. Not the greatest, but very, very good IMO. I hope that explains it. If not. Please try to find a way to communicate/contact me, and I'll try to be more helpful with, you. Hell I'll meet you there for dinner if your want, and explain this in person. This is not hyperbole either, I honestly will. Lol It was that good. God Bless all, and...
Read moreWent on a Tuesday evening with the family (6 people total). It was not busy in the slightest (rare for this place) and was seated at a back booth. TARA came by to serve us and immediately was rude, would not make eye contact and dismissive. We had waited about 15 minutes before she came over (not a big deal as we were just chatting and the kids were coloring). It took her another 20 or so minutes until she came back with 4 waters, 1 soda, and a beer and took our order. We then waited another 40 minutes for 2 pizzas, 2 dinners, and an appetizer. She brought the food and slammed it on the table. We had asked for plates for the kids, and she snapped back that she had already brought plates, we asked for ketchup and never received it. The pizza was not even cooked, 1 was the wrong size, and all our food was room temperature at best. We waited for her to come by to ask how everything was. She never did. We tried flagging her down, and she would look and run the other way or duck behind the desk. We got a manager, he corrected our order, was apologetic, and she still wouldn't bring napkins or ketchup. When she finally brought it over, she slammed it on the table. My daughter made a remark that she was angry and she snidely stated "no, no one is mad here". I spoke up for my daughter, and TARA continued to argue with me while never looking at me and slamming things on our table. She spilled water all over the table and got super angry about it, never apologized or acknowledged the fact that it spilled. She never brought us drinks after the first 40 minutes of waiting for our initial ones. She waited hand and foot on a table who came in after us but stated she was "too busy" to assist our table. With 4 tables in her whole section. I understand being busy, or under staffed etc but she was neither. Seemed as thought she was choosing who she wanted to provide good service to and who not to. Just poor service and food quality. Sad because our family chose to go to Uncle Tony's for major holidays, events, and weekend dinners. We will...
Read moreIn the words of Drake "Oh Lord, know yourself know your worth...". How homegirl wishes she had listened to these wise words. While homegirls visit was 6+ months ago she can recall her visit to uncle Tony's better than rainman ever could. That's because it left more than an impression, it left a scar not even Bio Oil can cure. Homegirl is still not healed but needs to get herself back on the web to warn the welcomed.
This was not homegirls pick. Her intuition had been bypassed by guilt. It was the birthday of her offspring and she bent like a politician. We walked in for an early dinner, passing empty tables and they pulling a Rosa Parks sending us to the back! Their assuming selves saw the fruit of my loins and thinking they're sour apples. With a mother like Homegirl these babies be military grade okay???! To be honest homegirl noticed but she wasn't that upset. She loves the space for a mid meal foot massage and extra chair for her Louis V.
The starter was an antipasto type description. The second my eyes spotted the appetizer she wished she was blind and had the no taste Covid. Lord thee save me. A bed of iceburg a CAN of tuna. Don't the food pantry discard their expired food? Because yo girl found the dumpster divers. It was the poorest quality canned foods dumped on top. Homegirls driver isn't even picky and he couldn't touch it. Next the meals. Scallops with breadcrumbs and a side of pasta? Messed up. Undercooked, and no flavor. Truly the worst meal She's ever had. Pasta with no oil, no garlic sprinkle. As a frugal woman homegirl couldn't believe she would have to unhinge her handbag and hand over her visa. Food was mostly left on the plates and yo girl was wrecked. The only way she could leave was to pray to God that she was here for a reason. That her tip was the saving grace allowing the waitress to pay her rent. Cash App'ing money to one of the Instagram robo "model calls" in my DMs would have been less painful...
