On August 10th, 2025, at 4:01 PM, We decided to stop by Bank Street Creamery for ice cream. The ice cream was excellent! However, I noticed another employee using gloves handling money, and then going to serve another customer a ice cream cone with the same gloves. I informed her it's against regulations to do so. I stated that you must change gloves and not handle food and money with the same gloves. She argued with me and said, "I can do that, I am allowed to use the same gloves!" Again, I told her that she was wrong, and I will never be back due to the disgusting behavior, and her snotty attitude, along with not caring for customers.
In Pennsylvania, food safety regulations require food employees to wear gloves when handling ready-to-eat food, but they are not allowed to use the same gloves for handling money and then food. This is to prevent cross-contamination. The specific regulation regarding gloves and food handling in Pennsylvania is found in Title 3, Chapter 57 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, specifically § 5710. This section outlines that food employees must use suitable utensils like single-use gloves, deli tissue, spatulas, tongs, or dispensing equipment, and may not contact exposed, ready-to-eat food with their bare hands, unless specific exemptions apply.
§ 5710. Retail food facility and employee cleanliness. All retail food facilities, kitchens, dining rooms and all places where foods are prepared, kept or stored shall be kept in a clean and sanitary condition and be protected from dust, dirt, insects and vermin in the manner prescribed by the regulations of the department. The clothing and hands of employees shall at all times be clean and sanitary. Except when washing fruits and vegetables or when approved by the department, food employees may not contact exposed, ready-to-eat food with their bare hands and shall use suitable utensils such as deli tissue, spatulas, tongs, single-use gloves or dispensing equipment. No domestic pets or other animals shall be permitted where food or drink is prepared, handled or stored unless specifically permitted or required under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-336, 104...
Read moreI cannot express our gratitude enough! This place not only has the best Ice cream we have ever had (so good, we made a 2 hour drive from NY for it) but their customer service deserves just as much praise. Brooks, the man who created this insane concoction of honey lavender Ice cream that will make you sleep like a baby, made a special 1/2 gallon of it just for us and stored it in an extra freezy freezer and wrapped it in foam just so it would stay frozen for the trip back home; and it made it !!! thank you to brooks who took the time out to ensure it would last the ride! Shoutout to Candace who runs their instagram page who contacted me after we made it home to NY that my bf left his CC at the register. She sent us a picture of it all cut up so we know it was destroyed appropriately. Absolutely outstanding experience. WELL WORTH THE TRIP! Will be back for another gallon of that...
Read moreFirst time here. This place was super busy. It’s a small space and the line is out the door even with only 6-8 people in line. It moved pretty fast with about two small groups of people in front of us. By the time we ordered and were about to pay, the guy ringing us up had to excuse himself to go help out. The line was no WAY out the door. I couldn’t believe it. There didn’t seem to be a sense of panic so I assumed this was usual for a Friday night. He came back after about three or four minutes. And we grabbed a seat. The prices seemed fair. The ice cream was good. Not the best I’ve ever had, but I plan on trying some of the other flavors. In the short time we were in line a least two flavors sold out. They also had waffles that I’d like to try and I saw a lot of people ordering them too. Only ice cream spot we’ve tried in the area, but we’ll definitely be...
