As an Indian family living in the U.S., we were deeply disappointed and hurt by our recent experience at this restaurant
From the moment we were seated, things went downhill. Our table was wobbly, which we immediately pointed out — especially because we had our 3-year-old with us, and a spill could be dangerous. Despite informing the front desk, no one addressed it until we had to escalate the issue to the manager to get it fixed.
After being seated, we waited around 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Meanwhile, we watched other guests — who came after us — get greeted and have their orders taken by the same waitress who continued to ignore our table.
What made this even worse is that my wife is pregnant and was extremely hungry — and we were hoping for a smooth and quick meal. The delay in service only added to the discomfort and stress, especially in her condition.
We were given chips, but the salsa — which normally accompanies it — was never brought to us. We asked for it, but it still wasn’t provided.
We also ordered beans and rice as a side dish specifically for our young daughter. Even after 15 minutes and with appetizers arriving, the waitress told us the side dish still wasn’t ready. Waiting that long for something so basic, especially with a hungry toddler and a pregnant woman at the table, was unacceptable.
After our food finally arrived, the waitress didn’t return to check on us even once — not to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. After finishing our meal, we waited another 10–15 minutes, but no one came by. I eventually had to go to the front desk to ask for the check.
To top it all off, when it came time to pay, the waitress filled out the survey on the payment terminal herself without giving us a chance to provide our own feedback — a completely inappropriate and dishonest action.
Throughout the entire visit, it felt obvious that we were being treated differently — and the only visible reason seemed to be that we were not white. The lack of basic courtesy, care, and respect left us feeling unwelcome and ignored.
This is not how any guest — especially a family with a pregnant woman and small child — should be treated. We sincerely hope management takes this seriously and ensures that every customer, regardless of their race or background, is treated with fairness...
Read moreFully aware of what they do here. Its modern twists on traditional mexican dishes. I know it's not authentic Mexican, and I just wanted to try some tacos. So that being said let's talk about food quality. Chips and Salsa. Decent. Salsa had nice flavor but was super runny and watery, yet flavor was pretty good, fresh, not bad, but, they have better salsas at Moe's. Chicken Tacos. Pretty good chicken, should be drained of the braising liquids more and shouldn't saturate the straight out of the bag un-griddled corn tortilla its served on. We ordered 9 tacos total, chicken, beef, and veg and not a single tortilla was griddled. Anyway. Chicken tacos came with a minuscule amount of chopped bacon pieces, some corn out of a can, chopped romaine, and if I had to guess...mmmm Texas Pete's BBQ sauce. All I know is that it wasn't Sweet Baby Ray's and it wasnt good BBQ Sauce. Could've been Bullseye, maybe. Carne Asada tacos were the best ones we had. Un-griddled tortilla as mentioned, some steak that wasnt too chewy, probably sirloin, a small amount of sweet potato crispies and some type of Sour Cream that was supposed to be Jalapeno Mustard Aioli. Carne tacos were suppose to have Shitake Mushrooms on it too, but there were none I assure you. Vegetarian tacos. Suppose to come with Black Beans, Avocado, Plantains, Tomatillo sauce and Corn Salsita....it was un-griddled tortilla sitting in a puddle of canned black bean juice. It looked like they opened a can of goya black beans and just dumped them all over all 3 tacos. Juice and all. Gross. Everything was lost. Un-griddled tortilla was absolute trash. I tried to eat one and it was a huge mistake. I'll let the photo tell the rest of that story. Whole visit was a mistake. Except our server, whose name was Heydee, was accommodating, polite, and wonderful. 2 stars for that reason alone. Food was trash. Fresher better tacos without any of the dish component confusion can be had at any of the chains, Moe's, Chipotle, Qdoba, chilis, you name it... $40 for 6 below average tacos and 3 uneatable trash discs covered in canned bean juice....
Read moreAs a restaurant worker here is why I will not be coming back to Mesa or recommending it to anyone else:
The goal of a restaurant and dining experience is to get people to come back want to share with others. My experience this Memorial Day at 8:15 did the exact opposite.
The restaurant was not busy
We ordered our food, and sat at a table with no silverware and linens. We asked a random server for them because we hadn’t seen our server for a long time outside. We were given paper napkins and no silverware. Then after waiting 50 minutes since ordering our food, we still hadn’t gotten our wings as appetizers. I went inside looking for our server and couldn’t find her, so I asked another random server to check on them. Then our server came out with our wings. With no apology she said: “Oh I thought you wanted your wings with the rest of your food.” We clarified when ordering that we would first like to start with wings. Then 10 minutes after our wings came we got our food. Two of our plates were missing ingredients, still no linens. We were given three silverware sets, 1 was dirty and unpolished.
Again, we asked the host for linens and our server came back out with 2 sets of linens. We were a party of 3 and she didn’t acknowledge that. Also, by that time we were more than halfway through our entrees. Our server not once checked in with us throughout our meal. We had no opportunity to ask our server for the missing items, that were brought by the host shortly after.
The entire evening we witnessed unsatisfied parties, one which got up and left after just having their drinks due to awful service.
To sum up the end of our evening, our server finally came out to ask if we needed any boxes. We asked for a box and the check. As a restaurant worker I have a lot of sympathy for servers who have little control over what’s going on in the kitchen and at the bar, but this experience was not worth our...
