Amateurs at best! Little smoke flavor, they have to warp their brisket in plastic wrap to keep it moist, it's so lean. At first I thought they over trimmed it, but NO marbling. Sides were all very small, watered down and basic, meat was scaled WITHOUT displaying the scale to the customer. VERY dry meats! VERY expensive for what the product is. I think it worked out to $17.50 a lb when done. Nice employees though. Its typical Kaleefornia bbq, definitely NOT TEXAS! I think they would make a very good beef jerky operation though. UPDATE 3/17/17....Well I had not been here in about 2 years, and now I know why. Thought I would give them a second chance. Ordered 1/2 lb. brisket, 1/4 lb polish sausage. I asked the kid who was cutting the meat if they still had burnt ends. He did not know what burnt ends were. They used to be on the menu. Self serve bbq sauce they had in those soup warmers just bubbling away flavor. I tried a piece of meat without sauce. Same thing, dry. So I dumped 2 of those little bbq sauce containers on the meat and they really soaked up the sauce. Still did not help. NO marbling, very lean meat, a definite no no in BBQ. A little more smoke I noticed this trip. I dont know what they use for a rub prior to smoking, but it has to go, very cheap, no flavor or caramelization whatsoever. In fact, there is NO BARK! REAL Texas BBQ, you dont need sauce by the way. Sausage was less than ok, no flavor, overl priced too. Anyway, I threw out their menu, never will be returning, and paying all that money for such a poor product. Adios ...........UPDATE, AGAIN 8-23-18.........I dont know why I keep giving these people another chance. Went in and had some brisket, AGAIN the brisket meat was so lean, so little smoke, I chewed on it like gum. NO marbling whatsoever! I noticed they are still wasting money on large amount of cellophane wrap to rewrap the meat again after it has been cut. THIS ISNT HELPING! These guys will...
Read moreFor me, this was a very nice, low key epicurean experience. It wasn't busy, the food was terrific. The prices were right. The ambiance was laid-back & not fancy. The place was clean. The service was quick and polite and attentive. The servings were appropriate & again, the price was right. My brother and I felt very comfortable setting there enjoying our meal & conversation. Afterwards, we went two doors down to Cold Stone Creamery for and expensive desert, then back to "Dickies" for a carryout meal for his wife. The group of four folks were still sitting there enjoying themselves for hours, as it should be. The only, kinda negative would be that "Dickies" has removed the free, "oh, so delicious", ice cream machine that drew a lot of us back in... But if we're being honest with ourselves, in hind sight, it's a good thing. I know I never just went for one helping of the freebie ice cream. A week later my son & I visited and our experience wasn't as good. My whole brisket meal was just flavored fat in crusted with a spicy rub. Not good. I suppose it all Depends on...
Read moreWent in to pick up ribs for dinner , they were out of all but 2 meat choices … That’s understandable considering their policy so out of the to meat they had left I decided to get brisket. I got a three meat plate with all brisket there was about six slices and four of them were mostly fat with just the crust… onion tanglers were burnt … and they were out of most sides. this is not the first time this has happened… I’m okay with a little fat …but it was mostly fat…didn’t seem like enough meat for the 3 meat serving at $22. use to be a really good place to pick up bbq…the last few times we ordered food were not good at all…I called one time, to let them know nothing was done, the manager never returned my call. I usually try not to give bad reviews, and keep trying to give them an opportunity to support local businesses because of past experiences. The food has been really inconsistent and I’m sad because Think it’s time to find a new place…very disappointed, but the food quality has really gone down.:( The service was good the staff...
