Literally a huge disappointment for EC. Their menu is promising and it has potential, if only they could deliver. Went for breakfast and although they only had our order to cook it still took over 15 minutes for two simple breakfast items. That would have been ok except once we recieved our food it was poorly done. The most basics of basic breakfast item is the egg. If you can properly cook an egg, you should not be in a kitchen. Eggs are simple! Google it! The worst thing in the culinary world is an improperly cooked egg. This of course to be followed by an improperly cooked steak. All of which could be easily trained if management cared enough about the basics instead of just trying to be "fancy" or "new". Sadly the new generation running the place sould have really learned that no matter how many post you put out, the customer comes first. Take a small little drive to the Roadside Dinner on Madison St. It not only will fill you up, but homemade tortillas and excelent staff that care about your experience will refuel your faith that not all hope is lost. On a positive note, at least they offer cottege cheese and fruit. It's hard to mess up scooping things into a bowl, but the quality of fruit as well as cottage cheese is superior to anyone else. Honestly, I wouldn't say don't try it, however unless management can actually stop sitting at a corner table ignoring customers and instead actually care about the experience of those actually there....then your experience...
Read moreAn unexpected surprise delight in the heart of Eau Claire on the corner of Eu Claire St. & Barstow. Olson's serves only homemade ice cream in a an abundance of flavors from cotton candy to monster chocolate and many more.
This evening my eife and I had a sweet tooth craving snf found the establishment. After reviewing a multitude of options, I requested a float with Chocolate Covered Cherry (real pieces of cherries) ice cream with Coca-Cola soda. I received a large Styrofoam cup filled with ice cream and a splash of Coke with the remain soda in the can. No float with all soda and no ice cream here. It was amazing! My wife had a scoop of Caramel Cashew and one of Butter Pecan and loved it.
The facilities are clean and modern but with the old world feel.
Service was exceptional and accommodating and our ice cream was reasonably priced.
If you have a craving and are near downtown Eau Claire, jump on the car and drive to...
Read moreOne of the better places in town to get ice cream! My wife and I stopped in here for the first time and it was great! The prices are very reasonable. The place was packed the staff was very friendly every table surface was clean and the selection was large! The atmosphere was reminiscent of a coffee shop but one that sells ice cream. It's big inside but cozy and warm feeling at the same time. It was also a little chaotic in there and it seems that they would benefit from any kind of information about what flavors they have, but I know when you switch them out often that it can be difficult to keep up to date! To my knowledge this ice cream is made just up the road in Chippewa Falls where they have their first location. All in all great icecream good atmosphere friendly staff low prices, 10/10 would...
