Lulu Mediterranean Grill - Edgewater — Restaurant in Edgewater

I am in total disbelief about how this place works. The opening hours start at 10:30am on Saturday, this is what my friend who made the reservation was advised and also what it says on the schedule. Reservation was made for 11am. When we get there with my other friend, we were even wondering if the place was even open. No sound, no people nothing. The only guy sees us and tries to communicate, however, he doesn't speak English. Ok, I understand this but if that's the case, who is going to taka care of us. Using Google translate!!!, we were able to tell the guy about the reservation... but he had no idea!!! Anyway, we chose the sitting area and even by the time my other friends arrive, nothing was ready! They did not come to ask about what we needed, we had to ask for glasses ourselves so we can drink our things (byob) all of this through Google translate or while making an effort with our hands to be understood. Later on, finally another person arrives who speaks English, we were able to put our orders, and yes, the food was great but once again, the service was simply soooo bad. Nobody approached us to see how everything was, nobody asked about ice (once again we asked by waving the guys who never cared to come to our table) no service to pour our drinks in our glasses (at least, since everything else was bad), nobody asked if we needed water when it's the middle of summer and it's extremely hot outside!!! We finished our things and nobody removed the plates, so we're making space ourselves on the table!! How?? How is that a restaurant operates like this?? The place was empty, so no excuses about a crowded and understaffed place, just no service! The worst I've ever experienced! At the end, they gave us a plate of fruit "on the house" but I'm sorry, this won't fix the terrible or non existent service you guys offered throughout the entire morning. And still, an 18% tip was automatically added to our tab! We didn't say anything, but it was definitely not deserved! I'm in disbelief about this place!! I will not return, I will...

Horrible experience! Some worker or manger’s friend misplaced his phone. Accused one of my guests as having “stolen” it. Harassed my entire party (10 of us) threatened to call the police. Police came and Spent almost 2 hours there. Kept harassing my guest that he stole the phone. NOT ONCE did the manager defend us. Not once did the manager tell his friend to stop. It turned out that someone in the kitchen stole the phone. They said they placed it there for the lost and found. The accuser didn’t apologize. The police said nothing. And the kitchen employee wasn’t arrested. Not once did the manager apologize. We left after paying our $700 bill. No discount. No “dessert on us for the inconvenience”. We plan not to be back and will tell others about this.

In response to the owner that wrote back. Allow my to clarify pursuant to inaccurate response:

1. the accuser did not come to us. We had do call him over after the phone was found. When we questioned where the culprit, he shut us up with the hand and walked away.

2. police did not walk over. We called him over and asked him if this was fair how we were treated. He apologized and walked away.

3. the manager was called over by us. I asked was this the way to treat customers. I said his friend was nasty and fresh. He claimed the accuser was. It his friend. Well he kept going in and out of the kitchen as if he owned the place. Sorry don’t buy that it was a “customer” The desserts were never removed from the bill because they were never offered. I'm giving 2 stars for the service and atmosphere. First, they don't advertise it's a hookah lounge. If I had known, I wouldn't have come here to eat. I don't like to inhale smoke while I'm eating. That just isn't my thing. Second, the waiter was a bit rude when I asked to make a slight change to my order. I was ordering a salad as an appetizer so I didn't want a salad with my meal and asked if I could get mixed vegetables since they do have it on the menu for other selections. He told me no can't do that, I was taken back as he didn't even say well let me find out if that can be done. When I asked for the mgr bc I felt my request wasn't that unreasonable, he tells me he's the supervisor. So I asked again, is my request that outrageous. He finally gave in and said let me speak with the chef. He never came back to confirm if I was getting the mixed vegetables, but when he finally came with our food, it was changed out for the vegetables. Just thought he could have responded differently to make it a pleasant experience since it was my first time. The other reviews made me wanted to try it out.
