To begin, I must express my regret that despite the delectable cuisine and aesthetic ambiance of Spirit, I will likely not return to the establishment. While my wife’s burrata pizza and my mussels were exceptional, our experience was marred by several concerning issues. Upon our arrival, we were not greeted with the customary warmth and attentiveness one expects from a restaurant. As the second couple to enter, we were initially offered the least desirable table in the back of the establishment. While I understand that seating preferences vary, I have extensive experience in the restaurant industry and can attest that the back of the house is typically reserved for guests seeking privacy or for reasons of concealment. However, after being relocated to the front of the restaurant, we were left waiting for our waitress. She took our appetizer and drink orders but failed to attend to us promptly. Notably, our appetizers were partially consumed before we received our first cocktail. Given the holiday season, there were only two other tables occupied in the restaurant, and our waitresses were not assigned to those tables. Consequently, they should have been able to provide adequate attention to our needs. Moving on to dessert, I ordered a lava cake, which was delivered but lacked ice cream. Our waitresses did not inform us that they were out of ice cream. They only approached us once the dessert had been placed on our table. Furthermore, no price adjustment was made for the dessert. If given the opportunity, I would have opted for a different dessert, as ice cream is an integral component of the lava cake experience. Our waitresses’ disengagement was evident throughout our meal. It appeared that they were not frequently present, which made it difficult to obtain their attention. Consequently, I had to flag down another waitress to order my after-dinner drink. Finally, I ordered my after-dinner cocktail and settled the bill with auto-gratuity, which was satisfactory. Despite my initial positive experience, the situation took an unfortunate turn when I reviewed my statement and discovered an additional $22 charge from Spirit Lounge. This unexpected expense significantly compounded the subpar service we had previously encountered. In an attempt to resolve the matter promptly, I reached out to Spirit Lounge, but they were unfortunately unavailable until 5:00 p.m. I sincerely hope that this review reaches the establishment’s owner, as I would be willing to consider returning to Spirit Lounge in the future. However, I would have preferred to avoid the inconveniences and subpar service we experienced and instead dine at a more professional establishment. It is plausible that the waitress may have been new to the job, underprepared, or simply lacked the necessary care...
Read moreYesterday evening my friends and I attended this venue after having a wonderful birthday party for our friend. We all wanted to end the evening on a high note but due to incompetence, an utter lack of care for the customer experience and a dash of discrimination we all had one of the worst evenings of our lives. The hostess, didn’t want to seat us because our 30 year old friend forgot his license. Granted we understand, licenses are a necessity. We however are not children and her attitude was totally uncalled for. Following that unnecessary interaction our waitress put the food and drink orders of over 15 people sitting at 6 different tables and whomever and I do mean whomever was sitting at the bar on one bill. Following her supervisors orders or her own we are not sure.
Once the check arrived we were all astounded to see that not only did she include errors like extra food, hookah and drinks from random people we didn’t know, she refused to split the checks. In response to confusion the POLICE were called. Never in my life have I been so taken aback by the shear lack of consideration for a customer. In a room full of educated young people, two doctors and host of professionals we were met with contempt and ill treatment. Rather than discussing how to solve the problem the management and staff felt that including two Edgewater police officers was the correct move to make.
I am disgusted that because of some unknown factor we were all treated like loud, disrespectful and unwanted trash. It’s astonishing to think that when you visit a place, looking to spend time with friends, you treat others with kindness then get your kindness and hard earned money thrown in your face.
What kind of people own and work in this lounge? Do we really want people like that with businesses in our communities? I think not.
I will be following up this review with letters to the Mayor of Edgewater and any business community group Spirit Lounge is connected to. Never will I spend money in this...
Read moreMyself and about 15 friends over the course of the night spent a Monday evening at spirit bar and restaurant to celebrate our graduation from medical school. A majority of the staff and customers were welcoming to us and we spent ~$1,000 there over the course of the nights. Minor requests like food, drinks, and hookah were handled expertly by staff like Luis the bartender and David the waiter.
However, one of the hostesses Blerta was incredibly rude and disrespectful to us the entire night. Constantly changing the music when we requested hiphop, r&b, and Afro beats (it was a Monday night and we were one of the only and by far the largest party patronizing the establishment), asking us to be quiet when we sang along to songs we liked, constantly giving our party dirty looks throughout the night, and just making us uncomfortable in general. I never write reviews but the fact Blerta made us feel this disrespected on what should have been a night of celebration prompted me to speak out. Despite the other staff being excellent she ruined the experience and I will never return to this establishment. Also I want to make it extremely clear we were not being unruly, disrespectful, or doing anything distasteful; we paid our entire tab with no issues and were simply Black graduates trying to enjoy our night but Blerta...
