I want to express my extreme disappointment with the service I received at the Outback Steakhouse located at 539 River Rd, Edgewater, NJ, on March 26th, around 5 PM. My experience was marred by incompetence, indifference, and a lack of professionalism.
Upon my arrival, there was no bartender present, despite it being a reasonable hour for patrons to enjoy a drink. After waiting patiently for about 10 minutes, I inquired with a waiter about the bartender's whereabouts, but received no clear response. I then saw the bartender emerging from the restroom, which is perfectly understandable, but her subsequent actions only exacerbated the situation.
Despite my attempt to place an order for a beer, the bartender was preoccupied and uninterested in serving me. I understand she had other duties to attend, but I've been waiting for some time and she could have put the customer (me) first before housekeeping tasks. I finally got my beer but with an unfriendly attitude. My patience dwindled as time passed, and the situation worsened when my wife arrived and was met with the same disregard at the bar. Not even a "hello" or "can I get you anything?" Feeling unwelcome and ignored, we ultimately decided to abandon our plans for dinner at the Outback. She once again left her station, and I had to request assistance from a waiter to summon the bartender for my bill, the response was lackluster and she begrudgingly appeared from the kitchen to hand me the tab.
I left the premises without leaving a tip, which is a rare occurrence for me. However, the level of service—or lack thereof—left me with no choice. I am not advocating for the termination of the bartender in question, but rather urging for comprehensive training to improve her customer service skills. I have never encountered such disregard for patrons. The attitude and behavior displayed were wholly unacceptable and tarnished what should have been a pleasant dining experience.
I hope this feedback prompts necessary action to rectify the service standards at the Outback Steakhouse in...
Read moreToday, I went to Outback located in Edgewater since my husband said he had a good experience at this restaurant years ago. My friend and I haven't seen each other in a while, so I wanted us to have a good experience to catch up. I have some observations: A waitress came to our table when my friend was eating her salad and placed dirty plates on our table bc he wanted to get the 2 plates that we didn't use for our entrée. It took a while to receive our food, and when it finally arrived, my meal was incomplete, so I was waiting for them to bring the rest. Nobody came to our table to ask if we needed something for 18min, I realized that the other tables were getting attended and were being asked if everything was OK so I made a comment to my friend and a few seconds later our waitress came and asked us what we needed...I told her I was waiting for her to bring the rest of my meal and she brought it. We had to wait again a while for her to come to our table and then my friend told her we were waiting for the dessert that my friend had already ordered. My friend started eating her dessert, and 2 minutes later, our waitress came to our table and dropped off our bill without being requested. We never asked for the bill, and actually, we were gonna order cocktails, but since our "nice" waitress came with our bill, we felt not welcome, and we decided to pay and leave. I was not gonna leave any tip bc she didn't deserve it. I've never met a waitress who comes to me with a bill not requested or without asking me if I wanted something else. It's ridiculous. I paid in cash and left. We felt discriminated by your employees and not treated in the same way as the other customers bc of our race. We didn't feel appreciated as customers....
Read moreJust left a few minutes ago, so this experience is fresh in my mind. Immediately when my girlfriend and I walk in, it’s FREEZING, and I’m a big guy who likes the cold. The small teenager (who needs to be fired as soon as possible) pretending to be a hostess took a good minute to get off of her phone, only to not greet us with a simple “hello,” just “Two?” My girlfriend asks for us to be seated outdoors and the “hostess” tells it’s closed (there were a lot of people outside.) Not “I’m sorry, it’s closed” just “It’s closed…” and stares at us, just no reassurance at all… She goes “follow me” and sat us at a sticky booth with gross, sticky menus.
The dishes were horrendously dirty, the plates had an entire layer of filth and grease. It was almost like a camouflage design on them, I did not use them at all. The waiter approaches our table and we ask to be seated outside and he says he needs to ask the hostess. He comes back and seats us outside! Where the hostess said was closed, he told it closes at 9 (it was about 8:30) so the hostess lied…
We get to our table and my girlfriend gets one her sides 25 minutes before the entree, there was no utensils at all. The guy that serves us our water, begrudgingly at that, just nods his head when my girlfriend asks for utensils but never returns. Our waitress comes with our drinks and then our utensils over 10 minutes later.
We FINALLY get 1 order of bread and our food comes out 2 minutes later. The steak, the one thing they’re supposed to be good at, was overcooked and none of the food was hot. I overheard the next table getting a few items comped and I don’t blame them. The food was not worth the price and terribly awful service, I will never go to this...
