I want to express my extreme disappointment with the service I received at the Outback Steakhouse located at 539 River Rd, Edgewater, NJ, on March 26th, around 5 PM. My experience was marred by incompetence, indifference, and a lack of professionalism.

Upon my arrival, there was no bartender present, despite it being a reasonable hour for patrons to enjoy a drink. After waiting patiently for about 10 minutes, I inquired with a waiter about the bartender's whereabouts, but received no clear response. I then saw the bartender emerging from the restroom, which is perfectly understandable, but her subsequent actions only exacerbated the situation.

Despite my attempt to place an order for a beer, the bartender was preoccupied and uninterested in serving me. I understand she had other duties to attend, but I've been waiting for some time and she could have put the customer (me) first before housekeeping tasks. I finally got my beer but with an unfriendly attitude. My patience dwindled as time passed, and the situation worsened when my wife arrived and was met with the same disregard at the bar. Not even a "hello" or "can I get you anything?" Feeling unwelcome and ignored, we ultimately decided to abandon our plans for dinner at the Outback. She once again left her station, and I had to request assistance from a waiter to summon the bartender for my bill, the response was lackluster and she begrudgingly appeared from the kitchen to hand me the tab.

I left the premises without leaving a tip, which is a rare occurrence for me. However, the level of service—or lack thereof—left me with no choice. I am not advocating for the termination of the bartender in question, but rather urging for comprehensive training to improve her customer service skills. I have never encountered such disregard for patrons. The attitude and behavior displayed were wholly unacceptable and tarnished what should have been a pleasant dining experience.

I hope this feedback prompts necessary action to rectify the service standards at the Outback Steakhouse in...

Today, I went to Outback located in Edgewater since my husband said he had a good experience at this restaurant years ago. My friend and I haven't seen each other in a while, so I wanted us to have a good experience to catch up. I have some observations: A waitress came to our table when my friend was eating her salad and placed dirty plates on our table bc he wanted to get the 2 plates that we didn't use for our entrée. It took a while to receive our food, and when it finally arrived, my meal was incomplete, so I was waiting for them to bring the rest. Nobody came to our table to ask if we needed something for 18min, I realized that the other tables were getting attended and were being asked if everything was OK so I made a comment to my friend and a few seconds later our waitress came and asked us what we needed...I told her I was waiting for her to bring the rest of my meal and she brought it. We had to wait again a while for her to come to our table and then my friend told her we were waiting for the dessert that my friend had already ordered. My friend started eating her dessert, and 2 minutes later, our waitress came to our table and dropped off our bill without being requested. We never asked for the bill, and actually, we were gonna order cocktails, but since our "nice" waitress came with our bill, we felt not welcome, and we decided to pay and leave. I was not gonna leave any tip bc she didn't deserve it. I've never met a waitress who comes to me with a bill not requested or without asking me if I wanted something else. It's ridiculous. I paid in cash and left. We felt discriminated by your employees and not treated in the same way as the other customers bc of our race. We didn't feel appreciated as customers....

Just left a few minutes ago, so this experience is fresh in my mind. Immediately when my girlfriend and I walk in, it’s FREEZING, and I’m a big guy who likes the cold. The small teenager (who needs to be fired as soon as possible) pretending to be a hostess took a good minute to get off of her phone, only to not greet us with a simple “hello,” just “Two?” My girlfriend asks for us to be seated outdoors and the “hostess” tells it’s closed (there were a lot of people outside.) Not “I’m sorry, it’s closed” just “It’s closed…” and stares at us, just no reassurance at all… She goes “follow me” and sat us at a sticky booth with gross, sticky menus.

The dishes were horrendously dirty, the plates had an entire layer of filth and grease. It was almost like a camouflage design on them, I did not use them at all. The waiter approaches our table and we ask to be seated outside and he says he needs to ask the hostess. He comes back and seats us outside! Where the hostess said was closed, he told it closes at 9 (it was about 8:30) so the hostess lied…

We get to our table and my girlfriend gets one her sides 25 minutes before the entree, there was no utensils at all. The guy that serves us our water, begrudgingly at that, just nods his head when my girlfriend asks for utensils but never returns. Our waitress comes with our drinks and then our utensils over 10 minutes later.

We FINALLY get 1 order of bread and our food comes out 2 minutes later. The steak, the one thing they’re supposed to be good at, was overcooked and none of the food was hot. I overheard the next table getting a few items comped and I don’t blame them. The food was not worth the price and terribly awful service, I will never go to this...

My family has been going every year for Mother’s Day to the outback. But today’s experience we will not be returning at all. Everyone Should be advised not to Eat or dine at the outback in Edgewater NJ. This restaurant is a ripoff charging for sides separately. When on the Menu it clearly states meal includes two sides. Liz the manager was horrible in explaining the corporate office has menu set as sides are separate from the entire meal combo. Keep in mind customers should be accommodated especially kept happy it’s called customer service. I don’t recommend eating here such rip outs. See menu sides come with meal nothing stating separate charge for the sides. Managers and Corporate trying to reach Quotas by ripping off customers by charging extra on sides. Something to consider before you eat at the outback. Service was horrible as an overall customer. Not to mention our waiter was upset that he didn’t want to provide us with the bill and made us wait for at least 20 mins. we ask for the receipt. The waiter kept saying I'll be there with a receipt never came. We went up to the waiter gave him the money and he handed us the computer machine to pay and left us with the mechanic therefore how would we receive the receipt and the manager Liz was present and didn't want to help with providing a receipt. This experience is disappointing and unnecessary considering it’s Mother’s Day ! Today I appreciated speaking to Kathie the Outback manager and how accommodating she is to invite us to return and pay 100 for dinner thanks to Kathie understanding customer service and I look forward to returning and thanking Kathie personally for offering such accommodation and reaching out

This place seemed to be very understaffed. The moment we stepped in, the host just glanced at us. No greeting at all. We were seated at the back by the exit for “pickup orders” so it was a bit cold. Initially we had a male waiter with glasses. We asked for tap water. The waiter disappeared for a bit and when we got another waitress, he magically appeared again, and without the water, ofc. I was so glad he wasn’t our waiter for the rest of the night because who knows how long he would have taken to bring out our food. Outback does not know how to cook steak lol. For an establishment that claims to be a steakhouse that is embarrassing. We ordered a T-bone steak medium rare and the steak came back unevenly cooked ranging from medium to medium well. Of course, the waitress insisted that it is medium rare and after she brought the steak to the manager, who insisted as well. The waitress then put in another order to cook a new steak, but marked down rare instead “just in case.” The new steak was literally rare… and for some reason there was no juices oozing out of the steak. It was like raw and bloodless. For some reason the waitress kept saying “that is a very good piece of steak” when we got the check.

First of all, this is an Outback, and I am rating this restaurant versus other chain steakhouse restaurants (not as a high end steak house restaurant). This is perhaps the nicest Outback that I have been too! >>> One of the reason’s is our server, Chelsey!!! Right from her initial greeting, we were impressed. She has an honest, relaxed, sweet way of greeting and taking care of guests, start to finish. Chelsey, should train servers as to how to interact with customers. Our meals were prepared as requested… my medium-rare sirloin was cooked spot on medium-rare! Most other restaurants miss medium-rare and serve it bc as medium. In addition, while talking with Chelsey, (which I initiated) she said the owners/ upper management, treat her like family and that she really enjoys working there. I might bet, that at many other restaurants the servers would not have such high praise for their management/ owners. Chelsey is not only a beautiful young woman inside and out, but she made our time at this Outback veryyy pleasant and enjoyable.
