Typically when we come here we have a good time. However, on Sunday our experience was HORRIBLE because we had a rude waitress named Kayla who lied to her supervisor Aaron about us. We had a group of 40 women come in and there was some miscommunication on our part about the amount. One of our staff did not update the restaurant, completely understand. However, they agreed to accommodate us and one waitress, Kayla, seemed to have a major problem with it.
Restaurants should let us know if you can accommodate us or not, and should NOT give us a hard time once you’ve AGREED to accommodate us. We had one waitress who could not let it go. She was very RUDELY asking us for our drink order when we politely told her that another waitress had already taken our orders. She decided to get offended and nastily said, “Well I’m taking them again because we switched sides!” Kayla proceeds to to be rude when asking for our drink orders when my mom asks her for her name. She, VERY RUDELY, says, “SHE TOLD YOU MY NAME IN THE BEGINNING, YOU DIDN’T HEAR??!!!!” It’s a group of 40 of us now, so we were all telling her that she cannot speak to us that way and she needed to be dismissed as our waitress. We have had racists spit in our food before, and we all spent over $100, so we did not have to tolerate bad service or bad human treatment. We went out to complain and the Karen Kayla ran to the supervisor, Aaron, before us and told him a LIE. She said we were all out of our seats for the drink orders and that we were hard customers. He defended her and was very rude and did NOT apologize for how she was treating everyone. EVERYONE had something bad to say about her because she treated all of us badly. After she was gone, the other other waitresses were very pleasant.
The way Kayla treated and spoke to us was degrading not only as customers, but as a decent human being. She looked down on us and treated us unfairly before finally erupting for GOD knows what reason. We had ZERO problems with any other waiters, which goes to show you that we are all very polite group of women.
Black customers are continuously disregarded and lied on and made out to be villains, Kayla was a perpetrator of Karen Culture that allows White women to be the aggressors then cry lies to their supervisors about an “angry Black woman” who believe them over us. Aaron was unapologetic about Kayla’s behavior and did nothing to address it. He did not even ask us about what happened or why we were having a poor experience with her. He made us out to be bitter and angry, in addition to being rude about agreeing to accommodate us. I would like to reiterate that KAYLA was the aggressor and Aaron coddled his disrespectful employee.
The saving grace was the fact that the other waiters were wonderful and the...
Read moreWe patronize McCormick and Schmick quite often for many occasions and events and we always have a good time and are usually pretty well taken care of by the wait staff, but this past Sunday, February 5th, the behavior and disgusting attitude of this particular waitress Kayla and the manager Aaron left a really bad taste in my mouth. We were having a private event, that we reserved and had a contract for, and we had a slight mix up on our part and slightly over our numbers. Once we realized that we had miscalculated, we asked senior staff if we could be accommodated even though we were over what our contract stated. We were obliged. Everyone who was waiting on our party seemed very pleasant and polite, all except KAYLA. She became noticeably bothered the minute she noticed our numbers were over, and her attitude got worse from that point on! She was RUDE and NASTY when she was taking orders for our drinks, repeating herself over and over when no one acknowledged her absolutely unacceptable tone of voice. Then when she was asked her name she made a SNARKY remark "DIDN'T YOU HEAR HEAR IT AT THE START OF THE EVENT" in an even nastier tone! At this point it was time to speak with manager, but before we could get out there, she scurried out to the front and started lying on our party. We were upset and concerned customers, and we were imploring the manager to remove her disgraceful service and attitude from our event to not further ruin our dining experience and Aaron the manager, let her continue to be rude as we were explaining her unacceptable behavior. He never, not once apologized to us, the costumers paying thousands of dollars, for her deplorable behavior. He instead asked her what she wanted to do and treated us like we were the problem! I guarantee you if we were a group of white women that would not have happened in that way, and the manager would not have disregarded us and acted as if what we were saying wasn't valid. We were being dismissed from the moment we came out to speak with him, with him using phrases like just RESET and "YOU CANT DISMISS YOUR SERVER" as if we are supposed to stand for being treated so poorly. This was an absolutely awful, horrible experience and if the CEO of McCormick and Schmick allows this kind of abuse of customers and disrespect to consumer dollars stand, then...
Read moreOne last update - 1/19/21 - NEVER got the gift card. Never heard back from them. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Another UPDATE 9/29: The (Regional?) Manager contacted me by phone and was really nice. He apologized for the whole ordeal, and empathized with my frustration. He said they would connect with the managers at this location and perhaps do some training or address this issue (which I hope happened). He also said he'd send a gift card. That was over a month ago (probably a little longer) and I haven't received anything. I followed up and he said that things were slow due to COVID, which is understandable, but I am feeling a little skeptical that anything was sent at all. It doesn't matter though. It's more about his word than anything. We shall see.
UPDATE: Even though I got a “response from the owner” note as a reply to this review, and I emailed them as requested, no one ever contacted me, and it’s been almost a month! Wow. So disappointing. I guess they don’t take this as seriously as they said. Lowering to 2 stars.
Original Review: I went with a friend to celebrate our birthdays. The staff who showed us to our table was nice. The waiter was also great—very attentive and showed up with a smile. The only issue I had is that the food gave me food poisoning. I called right after I “involuntarily” got all the food out of my system, and the manager seemed unconcerned. He told me “food poisoning doesn’t usually set in until the next morning” which was a little dismissive in my opinion. I am pretty certain I can tell when my body responds due to bad food. Then he told me to call in the morning and let them know if I felt sick. I told him that I was sure I’d be fine in the morning, because I’ve already got everything out. I knew it was food related because it started about 20 minutes after I was done eating. I had the center cut filet (which unfortunately was dry —but I didn’t want to make a big deal about it), mixed green salad, a few truffle frites, and asparagus. I had water and a strawberry Palmer to drink. Anyway, I would encourage the manager (of all the staff) to not be so dismissive. Consider a guest’s comments valid, especially one who just paid a lot of money for a mediocre meal that she never got to digest because of...
