An incredible evening at one of the best steakhouses around. Went for my daughters birthday and from the second we walked in until we left everything was on point.
At the start, almost everyone from the host to the busser wished happy birthdays upon my daughter as if they were old friends. Kids all ordered a Shirley temple, and the birthday girl got an incredible upgrade (pictured) with dry ice and palm leaves and like 10 cherries. My old fashioned was excellent and honestly a great value, drank it throughout the whole meal easily. Only weird thing here is they apparently intentionally don't put a cherry into the old fashioned - something I've not seen before - but we're happy to provide them upon my request.
Nikki, our server, was exceptional the whole time. Great conversation, able to have fun and laugh with us. We really appreciated her attention to our table throughout which was the perfect balance of there without being intrusive while we chatted.
Food order was filet mignon of course for most of us, and 2 of us took Nikkis advice and got the surf and turf which upgraded the meal with two scallops. Steaks were ofcourse exceptional, great bark and perfect inside. Scallops were good, but we thought the Bernaise was kinda out of place on them. Maybe it could have been served on the side? Not a deal breaker but something to consider. My son got a steak salad, which he orders everywhere, and it looked and apparently ate fantastically. He devoured it. We also got sides of asparagus with hollandaise, grown up mac, and mushrooms. All fantastic, the mushrooms for an individual portion were monstrous and able to he shared easily. Other sides were great, asparagus was awesome and huge!
End of the meal came, and Nikki comes out with a giant placing of chocolate lava cake, and Happy Birthday wishes across the whole thing. Kids devoured it like vultures and said it was amazing.
Whole experience start to finish was exceptional and a true testament to Pittsburgh Blue. My wife and I had been several times, but taking the kids for the first time was magic. Not sure it could have been more perfect and kids are all saying they want to come back for their birthdays. Thank you to everyone here for such an...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to have dinner here as we have done many times before. Previously we had 5 star experiences, but tonight we had a horrible experience. We were seated immediately but waited 10 minutes before our server greeted us and asked for our drink order. Another 10-15 before we received them. I was not getting a good feeling and told my wife we should leave as our server had several other tables with 4 or more guests and she was just too busy for us. We decided to stay as it was late. We waited 10 more minutes to order after our server said “I’ll be back in a sec”. We ordered our steaks and salad and I then requested a wine. We then received bread and received salad a little later. 30 minutes after finishing our salad we finally received our steaks and mashed potatoes. My steak was undercooked and went back. I finally received my wine. I then tried potatoes and they were cold. Server back in 5 minutes with my steak which was still undercooked. I had used bread plate for potatoes since we had no other plate - she said I should get a new plate, then left with my steak and potatoes. 5 minutes later we had warmed potatoes, but no plate to put them on. Waited another 5 minutes to get my steak and new plate for potatoes. Wife is done with her steak and I quickly ate mine. 20 minutes later server returns - I ask for check and also asked to speak with manager, server went and spoke to manager and returned to stay he would be here in a sec. I get the check but after 10 more minutes of waiting for manager decided to pay the check and leave. Manager stops us as we walk out door saying that he comped my steak and give him a minute to reprint my bill. I was not looking for that. I was wanting to give constructive feedback on our experience and get his explanation. Instead they presume I want comp. I wanted manager input on the all the delays so I could determine an...
Read moreWent here to celebrate a birthday and had an amazing experience!
Parking is always plentiful as it's attached to the galleria, plus it's fun to get a little shopping in prior to reservations.
I love that they have mocktails and non-alcoholic options here- their rosemary grapefruit sparkler was delicious and a great alternative to a cocktail to any non drinkers or pregnant people. My husband got the PB old fashioned which was HUGE- one drink was definitely enough, strong, and well worth the cost.
We started with the bourbon maple bacon appetizer and it was amazing! Thick bacon, cut into medallions rather than strips, with a sweet corn purée, jalapeños, and a corn bread. I'm not a big bacon person but I loved this, well rounded and delicious.
I love Pittsburgh blue because of their hearty sides. The corn, loaded mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese, all in the individual sized portion, are huge and more than enough for 4 people to share if you get a couple of them.
Steaks was good, our medium steak was more medium rare and even rare in the center, which usually wouldn't bother me but being pregnant, I was staying around the outer edges which really limited how much steak I could eat. I'm sure my husband was happy though as we typically opt to split a large steak. Would've rather have it cooked to medium and may consider ordering medium well in the future here to be cautious.
Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful- checking in on us but ensuring we got to celebrate the special event. She even surprised the table with a birthday dessert which was delicious and so unexpected!
I enjoyed the atmosphere here- bustling but still enough room between each table and not too loud- good for intimate dates or small celebrations.
Look forward to going back in the future, just may be more conscious of the way their...
