We (husband, two sons, and myself) made reservations for 645 pm on a Saturday night and arrived about 15 minutes early. We were told by the hostess reservations were running right on time and were asked to come back. We came back on time and were told to go wait in the hallway outside the restaurant as to not be within the restaurant for more than 90 minutes for Covid precautions. All staff were wearing masks. We were seated about 5-10 minutes after our reservation. Our waitress, Victoria, was pleasant and knowledgeable. Our drinks arrived promptly and my sons were given fruit cups which they enjoyed. We ordered sushi as a starter. My observant husband noticed sushi was brought to a couple seated after us at a nearby table. When their sushi came out and was about to be given to us, a staff member said, “Wrong table” prior to even reaching our table. We were told by our server and another staff member that our sushi was delayed. My husband asked if it went to the wrong table and it was confirmed. We were offered free dessert. We waited a good 20 minutes or more for the sushi to finally arrive. We had King Kong and Godzilla which were both delicious. Our meal arrived very shortly after the starter. I ordered miso soup, the seaweed salad with shrimp, and a volcano sushi roll. The salad had no shrimp so I again waited for that. I was told they gave me extra shrimp when it did arrive. We were all satisfied with the flavor and temperature of our food. The kids green beans were prepared perfectly. We finished and waited 5-10 minutes before our server checked on us and brought us the bill. I wish our server had been a little more attentive after our food arrived. We declined the free dessert and asked for a discount on our bill instead. We received a $7.25 discount or the price of a dessert. Overall, the food was delicious and satisfying but the service was subpar. The experience would have been much more enjoyable with...
Read moreWe had a disappointing first day in Minnesota when it came to food, so we were really hoping to turn things around on day two. We originally planned to eat at The Original Pancake House right across the street, but after waiting nearly 50 minutes for a table with no update, we decided to look around for other options.
That’s when I spotted Crave across the street and I’m so glad we gave it a try!
I ordered the Steak frites, cooked medium rare, and it was absolutely delicious, easily the best meal we’d had since arriving. It came with truffle fries and asparagus. My only small critique is that the fries portion was a bit much, and I would’ve loved more asparagus to balance the plate. Other than that, the dish was perfect.
Before ordering any other drinks, I started with a double shot of espresso, mainly because I’ve had a string of disappointing coffee experiences in Minnesota so far. As someone who makes espresso at home on my own machine, I could tell right away that the grind was too coarse. The shot tasted overly bitter, and the volume was too large for a proper double, which reinforced my thought that the grind and extraction time were off. Because of that, I decided not to order any additional coffee drinks and we just stuck with water for the rest of the meal.
My boyfriend ordered the burger, also medium rare, with a side salad. I tasted the salad and was genuinely impressed the balsamic dressing was so good, even for someone like me who’s not usually a fan. He said the burger could’ve used a bit more seasoning, but it was still a solid step up from what we had previously.
The restaurant is located in one of the newer malls in the area very stylish, clean, and with friendly staff. Overall, we gave the experience an 8 out of 10. Nearly perfect, and such a welcome surprise after a rough start with food and coffee in Minnesota. We’re so glad we ended...
Read moreI visit this crave for the first time ever in hopes of finding a place me and my significant other can enjoy on march 30th. Instead I got the worst service. From the start our waiter was pushy and had no patience for us. The waiter had checked my ID for an alcoholic beverage I ordered and after a minute or so came back to check my ID again in a very rude manner. The waitress told me she wouldn’t get fired for serving me when I was 21 and told me my ID wasn’t trustworthy because it wasn’t horizontal and proceeded to ask me if I’d ever had someone ransack my ID before. After getting our drinks and appetizer to our table we were ready to order the main course. We ordered a boat and burger to go. Our server never returned to give us our food. After waiting for 40 minutes for our food to come to us the cook from the back brought us our to go order. After thanking the cook for our to go order we ate it. Our main course hadn’t arrived until after our to go order was nearly finished and our server never brought it. The same cook brought out our main dish. Afterward our server put the check in our face and said good bye for the night. My significant other and I are now sick with food poisoning as a result of your servers not being able to serve food at a timely matter. The restaurant was not busy as we came in at 9pm and the crowd only dwindled the longer we stayed. I would also like to note that we had to go to the host on shift to get soy sauce. I should be able to flag down my waitress or see my waitress in a timely matter to ask for things like another napkin or soy sauce but my waitress was never seen on the floor to assist me and never once asked if we needed anything more. Please don’t let this...
