BEWARE. I have never been to a restaurant that failed on so many seemingly basic metrics. From the horrific and potentially dangerous food to the abysmal customer service, I am in disbelief this restaurant is still running. I ordered a hamburger with sprouts, which came with kettle chips. I agree with other reviews that the dish the food is served on is inappropriately small as it is hard to keep the food on the plate when eating the hamburger. While I was eating the hamburger, which tasted alright at first, my friend noticed some pink fluid dripping out of the hamburger. Upon inspection and after cutting the hamburger with the steak knife, I found the meat was still PINK and oozing uncooked fluids! I set the hamburger down and found the lower part of the bun was pinkish due to the fluids and the patty itself was barely cooked. I was disgusted and horrified, ground meats should NEVER be under cooked or served pink and I immediately notified the manager. The manager was very apologetic and offered the meal to me at no cost. The manager also offered me another meal at no cost as a replacement, however, I declined as I was concerned about the potential for food-borne illness.
Furthermore, I need to comment about the abysmal customer service we received from our waiter. Our waiter, named Cole, earns the dubious distinction for being among the worst servers we have ever had. Cole's careless attitude was evident with his slamming of plates on the table, dropping food on the ground and table and did not have an understanding of the meals on the menu when asked. Cole was notably absent throughout our meal, and never filled our water. Furthermore, when I did finally request our water to be refilled, he filled it with warm water that was sitting beside the window. Where was Cole, one may ask? Cole was inappropriately flirting with a group of customers, who appeared to be his acquaintances. His nonchalant attitude towards his work and lackadaisical performance should earn his dismissal. Cole earned no tip and was meritorious for a complaint to his manager.
On another note, the ambience of the restaurant is very nice and would make a nice place for an informal meal. That being said, if one were starving and completely out of options, I would suggest starving over eating food that is potentially dangerous and establishments that allow poor customer service...
Read moreI used to rate this restaurant 10 stars out of 5. It was one of two restaurants that I would tell everyone to visit when they came to the twin cities area. Hands down, I would come at least once every time we visited from Fargo, about once a month to twice a week, but their pepper aioli sauce's perfect ratio has changed, it is intolerably spicy, and the other dishes we tried have changed as well. I love the servers and atmosphere but I just can't justify the high prices for the food anymore with the problems we have experienced.
The other dish that we frequently enjoyed was the cashew chicken sandwich with lettuce, which was more like lettuce with cashew chicken this time. The ratio was completely off, but for the sake of this review I will focus on the dish that I am the most dissappointed about, which was an all around fan favorite.
On December 24th I got the Good Earth Burger to go, when I got it, I was greatful I got the sauce on the side. (I always did to dip the chips in after I ate my burger.) It was so hot that I couldn't even eat it. I tried putting a slight amount on the burger to cut the pain but I couldn't taste the aioli, and my tongue still burned. I have a picture of what it used to look like, the current aioli is much darker orange, there is much more (red pepper?) in it now to the point where it is nearly intolerable to anyone who doesn't eat spicy foods often.
I thought it was a mistake or a fluke, as did our waiter upon asking him if the difference was permanent before ordering, but when I got the burger it was once again intolerable spicy. I tried to put a less than paper thin amount on the burger but once again there is no flavor to it, only hotness.
We have an image of what the sauce used to look like, a picture taken of the meal on my birthday, and in comparison the current sauce is much more orange. My mom who had also sampled the sauce with me on multiple occasions said she noticed that it is overwhelmingly spicy now as well.
Needless to say, this has removed the restaurant and the dish from my recommendations. I very much hoped it was a one time issue, but it looks like it's here to stay.
This was my all time favorite burger from any restaurant, so this is...
Read moreCame here for a Friday night dinner. Had a reservation for 6:45 pm and we were there on the dot and promptly seated.
We noticed a booth empty and we asked if we could be seated there instead of the table. And the hostess said that only people with reservations had a choice of seating and despite having one we couldn’t be seated there. I really didn’t know what that meant especially because two old women who came right after us were seated in that booth. I found that annoying because how is a first timer supposed to know they have booths that can be specified during reservation. But other than that, our food was very good and service was quick, and attentive. I am kind of in-between about docking off a star but decided not to because we had a good rest of our experience especially by our server.
We ordered a hibiscus mimosa, the asparagus cream soup, veggie nachos and a wok seared vegetables. It was a good amount of food for two, but we actually finished off everything between the two of us.
The food felt fresh and despite feeling full, didn’t feel bloated or uncomfortable. The salsa and the guacamole for the Nachos were especially nice. It wasn’t greasy and had a good mix of cheese, vegetables and the beans and was also seasoned well. The asparagus soup could have done with a little more salt but it wasn’t a big deal as we just added it ourselves.
I would definitely recommend going here if you’re in the neighborhood or are at the mall. Seems like reservations would help especially on weekend nights and if you’re a first timer don’t forget to put that booth request in the reservation if...
