Aspen and Oak — Restaurant in Bloomington

The food seems to trend on the too-hot spicy side no matter what you order. I had the walleye dinner, which was very good, but very spicy. It was also either buttery or greasy, which seemed very unhealthy. Tonight, I had the filet mignon, but it came very flat, which leads me to believe it was either a cheaper cut or pressed to allow for even cooking. Either way, it wasn't the "filet" experience I was looking for. I like the variation in doneness when you order a filet, which did not happen tonight. Anyway, this was also a heart attack waiting to happen, with the greasy or buttery...

I was pleasantly surprised that the food was very good. I had the filet, and it was cooked perfectly. The filet was juicy, tender, and delicious. I also enjoyed the vegetables that came with it, including the fingerling potatoes. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their food, including the steak bites, steak salad, and the walleye. If I could give zero stars I would waited an hour to order asked the waitress multiple times and kept getting blown off the whole experience...
