I’ve been coming to Big Bowl in Edina, MN for years, often just to experience their Lettuce Wraps once again. Its nice that experience is consistent – because we come back to have the entrees that we again! The reception and serving staff are often quite young yet very attentive. The gentleman typically at the bar knows the entrees well and does a great job answering questions and making recommendations. All staff keeps their masks on and seem respectful of customer wait times. This time while waiting for my order pick up, I thought to put the time to use and write a review. We can recommend the marinated ribs, Mongolian beef with shiitake mushrooms, and a variety of onions, Orange Chicken, Red Curry Beef Satays, dumplings, and Lettuce Wraps, for sure. The Potstickers and Dumplings are served with a ginger-soy dipping sauce that perfectly complements the ingredients. The appetizer menu portions are big enough to share. My mom struggles a bit to read the menu as the lights are somewhat dimmed – but I’ve always had my cell phone with me and shed a light on the menu for her. For those who like Thai flavored options, the Panang Thai Curry is my recommendation. The prices, in my opinion, merit being higher than many others, because of huge portions of food, entree quality, and excellent customer service. In this case, you get what you pay for is true. I can recommend this for people with a discerning taste palate and who seek really fresh and health food. There are several Gluten-free and vegetarian food options. Since the Big Bowl is so popular, parking can be an issue on weekends and prime dining hours. Plan to come early. Being a part of the Galleria shopping mall means that parking is shared with daily shopper.

This is a perfect Thai and Chinese place if you are in the Twin cities and looking for somewhere where you can pick what you want on your plate and how much of that. I’m going to write this review common to the one in Ridgedale mall and the one in Edina Galleria as they offer the same menu and almost the same dining experience. I’m a vegetarian and will provide my review with my limited insights on the veg menu. They have some exceptional potstickers and dumplings that you can start with. The peanut noodles are a good option too and we have always asked the waiter to warm up it a bit. Now comes the best part -Stir Fry Bar. The waiter at the start takes notes of your choice of rice, curry and protein and gives you this piece of note. You need to carry this to the preparing area, pick a bowl with a plastic tong and start picking your veggies from a plethora of choices. Once done, you leave the bowl there over the note. The trick is to keep the veggies minimum so that you get more of the rice and when it’s served hot, Ta-da! If you have more, never fret. They pack it up pretty well to carry out. They have a novel way of showcasing their dessert menu with a plastic display of different items to give you a visual idea of the choices to pick from. A few items vary between the two locations. Nevertheless, this is an excellent place to be at if you are looking for a sumptuous lunch or dinner.

Big Bowl at the galleria is one of my family’s go-to spots when we’re in the mood for asian food. Some may argue that it’s not “authentic” enough. But Big bowl serves some very tasty food, and in the end that’s why I keep going back. My favorite dish would be the Thai hot chili pepper chicken. I’ve never had anything like it. It’s tangy and spicy…It has fresh water chestnuts that give it an amazing crunch and Fresno chilis that give it a sweet spiciness. I love this dish! It can be a bit spicy so we omit the Birdseye chilis from the dish. I also highly recommend the orange chicken and their pad-Thai. The orange chicken batter is light and crispy, has pieces of fresh orange ring and a lot ginger. The pad Thai is more savory than sweet which I really like. Oh, and if you’re a fan of calamari I personally think they have one of the best! It’s very lightly battered and served with a nuoc cham dipping sauce. My kids devour it!

My boyfriends family and I we had lunch at the Galleria location on Sunday. We got a table for 7 people plus a newborn. She missedunderstood on how many people were coming so we didn’t have enough chairs or menus. When we were getting our order for drinks everything went smoothly. Once she got our meal orders she totally skipped me I already knew what I wanted and I gave my boyfriend my menu. We talked to the manager at that time. I was already having a rough day she never engaged to me like everybody else. I got the cherry coke which is my favorite everyone else got refills but was never asked.

My boyfriend had ordered Ginger Beef with Chow Fun Noodles. He was unaware of how the noodles were supposed to be like. He had only found 3 full noodles. We talked to the manager again. She had informed him that the noodles break up into pieces gave him fresh new plate of noodles.

Once we paid and gave our Visa cards. The waitress just put my boyfriends card on the table and just said his card didn’t work because of the chip.

So here is my review of the waitress and the service:

When you do refills of any drinks you should always ask especially parents don’t always want the kids drinking more then two lemonades.

When you fill up other peoples drinks you should do everyone at the table!!!!

When a chip doesn’t work on a Visa card ask the owner of the chip for ID to punch in the numbers or ask for a different Visa card!

Always ask and check in on your customers. For example how was your meal? Would you like another drink? Do you have any questions about the menu?

Never got a smile or have a good day especially from the lady up front.

I would never come back to Big Bowl at Galleria location. I will just stick with Big Bowl at Roseville at least I get refills and amazing service.

I would not recommend people going to...

Big bowl has always been a favorite with my family, however New Year’s Day was the worst service from the host stand that I have ever received. There were two hosts a carry out person and multiple managers on duty from what I was able to see. I was not greeted with a hello or a welcome, simply by the host picking up the phone instead of acknowledging us and letting us know she would be with us. When she was done with the call I had to initiate the greeting by saying hello to her and asking her for a table for three adults and one highchair. She stared blankly for a minute and said umm ok let me get a table ready for you. Ok, great no wait right? She literally stood at the host stand and answered more calls, the other host greeted another family after us and sat them right away, a party of 4 also. At no point did either of these host comunícate about setting up a table for us! I don’t know what they meant by that because all that needed to be done was grab a high chair. After about 10 minutes the first host noticed I was looking straight at her and she finally asked the other host to show us to a table right in front of us that had been open the entire time. No highchair was there. I had to request one again. So I don’t know what setting up was done for ten minutes. Floor under our table was filthy with noodles and rice. Host literally threw menus at table and left. I hope this treatment was not because of our race or because I had a baby that needed a high chair. Very disappointed. Our server was very pleasant and food was good as always. On our way out no thank...
