My kiddo has been on a macaron fix lately and because he has been doing a good job with school work and such, when he asked if we could check if the bakery next door to Teri's ToyBox had macarons I obliged. The place reminds me of old-timey bakeries where the store is old, dusty and dimly lit but it had macarons and that is good enough for the kiddo. The selection is what you'd expect for a bakery catering to locals (not trendy or even multiculturally interesting like Tous/85°/Lady Yum). We got the raspberry with chocolate cream and the pistachio flavors. Paid $15 (incl. tax) something for four macarons and a blue whale cookie. I would say the prices are similar to other bakeshops. The kiddo liked the raspberry macaron and the cookie. I have no objections to the macarons, I tasted both. I appreciate that both flavors weren't too sweet. I'm familiar with the controversy that the bakery was embroiled in so I wonder if the Google ratings are low because of it. I give the store a 4 stars because my kid liked what we purchased, the bakery person was pleasant, and the prices were ok. When we find ourselves exploring Main after a visit to the beach, we might pop in again if the kiddo wants another macaron.

We purchased our wedding cake from Ken and we’ve never stopped talking about it. The flavors were amazing - we had three tiers - almond poppy, banana and chocolate. The cakes were moist, better than we could’ve imagined. Fast forward 15 years, and I reached out to Ken last week asking if the offer for an anniversary still stands since we never ordered one on our 1st. He was so gracious to fulfill my request. I surprised my husband, and we thoroughly enjoyed the almond poppy with raspberry filling and cream cheese buttercream cake. There may or may not have been some tears. Thank you so much, Ken. You are the best!

So I ordered my wedding cake in October for December. I asked for carrot cake with buttercream frosting, which was amazing. I wanted snowflakes on the cake and 3D chocolate ones with crystal sugar and pearls to look like snow cascading down the 3 tiers. That is no where near what I got. First, they were trying to put cake in the box (that they took 10min to find one to put it in) before showing it to me. Messed up the frosting taking it out of the box to show me. Then held it 6 feet away from me to look at. I said it was OK, my mistake. When they brought it to our car I was instructed to carry box from the bottom so cake wouldn't fall out due to the box being held together by 2 strips of masking tape. I took cake out of the box at home and the snowflakes looked like a 4 year old decorated my cake. When we called we were told that it was our fault for taking the cake and I was told that I said it looked fabulous. My mom and I spent 3 hours making chocolate snowflakes and fixing my cake the day before my wedding. I'm very disappointed and have told EVERYONE not to...
