AMAZING! Just went there with my husband(literally driving home), and we're definitely coming again.
The restaurant: Nice outside and pretty, yet simple inside. There are little red cushions on the seats, but you can move them to be a back cushion, and I think it adds a nice touch.
The staff: Very friendly, able, and accommodating. We had trouble packing our left overs(and to-go order for lunch tomorrow) and we were helped by our waitress. Our ordering was quick and we got our food quickly. We were also checked on often, but not too often. While we ate, there was a gentleman who was waiting on a to-go order and they were talking to him and even taught him a little Chinese(Mandarin, I think).
The food: Drool-worthy. We got green beans with garlic, and edamame to share. Both were fresh. My husband got chicken chow mein and I got the pig's feet with the sauce. I've had pickled pig's feet when I was very young, but it was a different cut. These are kinda like short ribs, but with more bones, obviously. If you like to disassemble your food like I do, this is great. There's skin on, but it's not tough. The sauce is so good, I asked if they sold it. Sadly, they don't, but an older gentleman (who went around to the tables to check on everyone before he left) got some for me to-go. So kind! BTW, the sauce would probably go great with chicken wings instead of something like teriyaki.
Overall: I...
Read moreTerrible service experience. Whatever you do, never visit or place an online/phone order with this restaurant on Christmas Eve (or any busy holiday). They accept way too many orders and cannot handle the backlog.
I made the mistake of ordering by phone on 12/24/2023 at 5pm. They said the food would be ready in 40 mins. I showed up to the restaurant around 5:40pm and it was completely packed, with a line of people to the door waiting for pick up orders. It was nearly impossible to speak with any of the restaurant staff due to understaffing and communication barriers.
Everyone in the restaurant was waiting for their order. The staff made it seem like they were working on my order, but after over an hour of waiting I decided to cancel my order if they hadn’t started cooking it yet. After more back and forth, and disorganized chaos, I was finally informed that they had lost my order and I was waiting for nothing. They made no attempt to rectify the situation or even offer an apology. I left...
Read moreRed Lantern offers the standards you expect from any Americanized Chinese restaurant but also on the menu are specialties such as pork knuckles casserole. For a quick pick-me-up, I dash in for the hot & sour soup; spicy good that hits the spot. But I prefer to linger over a meal: Kung Pao chicken, broccoli w/ garlic sauce, a wor won ton soup, etc.
Lunch prices are approximately 30-40% discounted from dinner prices.
Open ~6-8 weeks, Red Lantern is an easy selection for best Chinese food in Edmonds. Yum.
NB: The restaurant closes between 3pm and 430pm, when the staff dines in. Hmm, they like their own food - it must be good!
