Canarino Gelato Caffé — Restaurant in Edmonds

I was very hesitant coming here because of the low reviews on Yelp, but I sure was proven wrong! I hadn't had gelato in a long time too.

The inside is cute, and it was pretty calm too. I got a modern kind of farmhouse vibe. I had seen a lot of reviews on Yelp on how the service was bad, but when we were there, the service was pretty good, and our server was pretty nice and sweet.

Anyways, the main reason that I was proven wrong was because of the amazing sorbet and gelato!! All of them were super bold in their taste and flavors. I had a chance to try the vanilla, mango, ruby chocolate, and a dark chocolate (I can't recall the actual name).

The vanilla was super creamy, probably the softest and creamiest out of all of the ones I tried. It was also very buttery, both in the texture and flavor, it was quite intriguing. The mango was amazingly refreshing, but also quite tart. It really tasted like as if I was biting into a real mango. That was pretty much it for the mango. The ruby chocolate on the other hand was very interesting. I still couldn't distinguish what it reminded me of. I kept finding myself eating it some more trying to figure out what it tasted like. It was more like a milk chocolate, and slightly reminded me of fondant? Finally, the dark chocolate, probably my favorite one of the night, competing with the ruby chocolate. The dark chocolate was insanely rich, and was actually slightly fudgey. It was definetly the thickest, and the most dense. It reminded me a lot of a brownie.

Overall, everything was very impressive, and everything I had that night was so luscious and delicious! I'll definetly come back for more, and I can't wait to try some of their...

The staff DID NOT wear masks!!! Upon our arrival all of us were wearing masks, including the two girls who were behind the counter working. (We were the only customers who opted to dine inside.) Soon after we sat to enjoy our gelato my daughter pointed out that they weren’t wearing gloves. I explained safe food handling practices and told them not to worry, UNTIL I saw both girls remove their masks while talking to each other as they continued to handle counter organizing and chat. I then saw one girl take a sample spoon and grab a sample of gelato and eat it herself. While e were there, I saw them move around the counter and space very freely unmasked. As you may guess, it made me feel uncomfortable and I found it very hard to trust their hygiene practices as a business establishment and we decided to leave. As we were leaving, another family entered, one gal behind the counter opted to put her mask back on and serve them, (not washing hands, and this was the gal who had eaten a sample) while the other went into the back room to avoid having to put her mask back on I imagine. - Such a shame as it was a beautiful sunny afternoon in Edmonds and outside everyone was respecting physical distances and wearing masks. It was very disheartening to see this happen at a business in Edmonds that catered to so many others today. Obviously we won’t be back to this place ever again and I thought it was was VERY important for others in the community to know of their very unsafe practices and lack of care for the community...

I hope that management/owners see this .. Please educate your staff on better customer service or hire better and more willing to work people. I came in yesterday evening, the line was pretty long, which is understandable, but the workers were absolutely rude and their demeanor was not matching their job. Eye rolling, making faces, and overall annoyance, which was observed with EVERY customer from this very long line. The girl with the braids (didn't catch her name) and her very unprofessional behavior was absolutely unacceptable.

As far as your "gelato", please change the name to Ice cream. None of your flavors are in any form a true gelato and it's very disappointing. Same could be said for your Turkish coffee. As a person who is from Europe (Bosnia to be exact) your Turkish coffee made in a small coffee machine is absolutely misrepresented.
