My wife and I have come here several times. She used to love their meatloaf. I don't have a favorite, but it's always been pretty decent. The price used to match the quality but not any more... not even close.
We went on New Years Eve, thinking we would have options. They didn't have their regular menu, though, and their holiday menu was underwhelming, to say the least. They started us out with some bread. It seemed like thinly sliced up ciabatta buns. They would have been pretty good if not covered in a gross amount of cold, unmelted butter. (Pictured)
My prime rib was soggy and cold. I ordered it medium well. Maybe she heard "rare" instead of "well..." It came with a small scoop of very boring mashed potatoes and looked like it was plated by a teenager in a hurry. It was literally just a soggy piece of undercooked meat pooling up with a small round scoop of nearly flavorless potato. No chives, no gravy, no garnish... The best thing I had was the arugula salad it started with. It was ok.
My wife had blackened Mahi Mahi. It was an off-putting texture, with very little blackened seasoning not prepared or cooked nearly as well as it would be made in a home broiler even. And again... presentation was very rushed and unprofessional. It came with dry, charred brussels sprouts. My wife loves brussel sprouts but left these on the plate.
My son (7 yrs) had kids fish and chips. He ate only a few fries.
My daughter (14) ate most of her salmon and said it was pretty good. But again... opted to leave the dried sprouts.
I wouldn't normally even mention the presentation as a review factor in most cases. But when I pay $300 for a dinner that nobody wanted to finish... it should have at least looked like a professional made it.
Our server was awkward and rushed, it seemed. Their tables weren't even full, but she seemed very stressed out. They're likely understaffed to save money like most other places. They brought us the wrong desert, left an uncomfortable amount of dishes on our table, and served everybody waters but for some reason took our sons water away, and he had to ask for another one. It was a strange night.
Wish that we had the experience we were used to years ago. We were extremely disappointed and unlikely to return...
Read moreI was pretty disappointed with the meal & service last night. We ordered a bottle of wine to start & the server came over but was fumbling with the corkscrew because she said she needed a left handed one. She left & came back to open the wine. We didn't drink anything at that point & placed our order.
We ordered soup to start & I ordered a filet.
Right as the soup came, we were just about to start drinking the wine when I noticed she brought the incorrect bottle. I quickly got up from the table to bring this to her attention & said we didn't drink anything yet & could swap out since it was more expensive. Rhilynn said to not worry about it, but I also didn't want to be charged more. She said since it was her mistake, I wouldn't be charged more.
I went back to start eating my soup & then the manager brought out my steak. Clearly I hadn't even started eating my soup, so now my steak was going to get cold which it did.
Rhilynn came over towards the end of the meal & offered dessert for the mix up which I thought was nice, but definitely not necessary so we just ordered ice cream to keep it simple.
At the end of the meal, the manager came over to give us the bill & said because of the wine mix up & pricing, she charged us for 3 glasses & gave us a food discount to try to close the gap for the cost difference. A very different story from what I was told. I was more than happy to change the wine to the correct one I ordered. I ended up paying almost $20 more than what I was expecting.
The manager should have come over when this first happened & not at the end to "close the gap" for the pricing differences. It'll probably be awhile before I go back here, but hope that in the future, they can do a better job of not bringing out food at the same time as appetizers or bait/switch what the server told people at...
Read moreI have eaten at Scott's many times. In my experience, there is a definite drop-off in food quality recently. I will not return after my brunch today [8/11/24].
I ordered Eggs Benedict, with avocado slices instead of Canadian Bacon. The food came to the table just slightly warm and had obviously been sitting under the lights on the pick-up counter, The English Muffins were over-toasted to the point where you would probably scrape them off at home, and very hard to cut. The avocado slices were very thin, turning brown around the perimeter and over-ripe generally. The poached egg yolks were cooked all the way through, essentially hard boiled eggs. The potatoes were fine.
My wife ordered Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. Her English Muffins were as bad as mine. The so-called smoked salmon on one-half of the muffin was unrecognizable to me. It looked like deep fried fish skin with a few shreds of flesh hanging on. It was terrible. Fortunately, there was less than a tablespoon of this stuff spread across about half the muffin and it was easily scraped off. The other half of the muffin had a little salmon of some kind but the amount was minuscule The yolks of my wife's poached eggs were hard-cooked, just like mine.
All in all, both meals should have been tossed in the garbage, but who wants to wait around for the same chef to try again to cook a basic breakfast dish?
$51 + tip. High prices + bad food = find another restaurant that values its customers and exercises some degree of quality control. I have to wonder if there is a manager in...
