Pho Cali — Restaurant in Egg Harbor Township

This is the BEST pho I have ever had in my life. No other place even comes close. I’ve tried all the others in the area and they do not even compare. Not on the taste, generous portions or service. I’ve been eating at Pho Cali for years. Enjoying every bite! From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a warm and welcome smile every single time. Ice water and hot tea at the table. They offer so much fresh basil, bean spouts, lime, chili oil etc. The PHO is absolutely amazing.it’s perfect. I always order the veggie pho with crispy tofu and it is the most delicious experience. They put so many vegetables in the bowl and I really appreciate that. Their portions are big and you leave feeling very satisfied. I visit this restaurant once a week …….. and at times I’ve gone twice! I am an Italian girl who has no reservations about saying this food makes me so happy. There is something for everyone. A very large menu. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options too. I will always support this restaurant and I am thankful that it is so close to home. After our night out in AC we needed some comfort food and decided to have some Pho. We went in the afternoon and it was pretty busy inside. We were a group of six and we got seated fast. The lady taking our order was very welcoming and friendly, she had a smile on her face the whole time. To start we had the A8 which was the beef summer rolls with a peanut sauce 10 out of 10 soo good. We also got the A15 bao bun with charbroiled beef, also a 9 out of 10. For our soups we all mainly got the P7 which was Pho rice noodle soup with well done brisket. They served that with complimentary beansprouts, sauces, jalapenos, basil and lime. We all loved the PHO 9/10; the broth was very flavorful and there was a decent amount of noodles. My sister and her boyfriend got the N15 which was a chicken broth Pho noodle soup with short rib beef on the side. The chicken broth was very good as well 9/10 but I liked the beef broth more. My family and I have been coming to Pho Cali since it opened. I have always left happy and satisfied until today. I ordered the shrimp and pork dumpling soup. The broth was very thin and almost tasteless. I wanted to add chili paste to give it some flavor. In place of Asian style chili paste they had pepper relish. The same Italian style pepper relish that goes on subs not in soup. It was very off putting. I figured no problem I'll add Sriracha/chili hot sauce instead. Well, They also replaced the chili hot sauce with some watered down, bright orange hot sauce. I added it and it actually ruined my flavorless soup. I also noticed my soup had large carrot slices in it. Some of you may love carrots. I do not and I see it as a cheap filler for other quality Asian veg. I left very unsatisfied. I will not go back, because I feel they are cutting corners all the while upping prices. There are too many other Vietnamese restaurants locally with quality ingredients and wonderful service.
