Genuinely shocked to read so many positive reviews of this place, since I just got home from one of the worst dining experiences of my life. We were seated immediately and the service started off friendly enough, but everything went downhill from there. We waited well over an hour for our food, and for that full hour plus of time we were never offered refills on our drinks. The food came out and despite the fact that we were warned "careful, it's hot," the food was already cold to the touch--everything on all our plates was room temperature. The pretzels were too hard for my son to bite through. My wife ordered the Wiener schnitzel, which is supposed to come with lemon slices, and it was served completely dry, unaccompanied by anything at all. It took us asking the waitress for the lemon slices for her to inform us that the restaurant was completely out, but not to worry, someone was now on their way to the store to buy more. Keep in mind that we'd literally been sitting there for an hour and a half at this point, with plates of cold food in front of us. Even when I asked for boxes to take the food to go (I figured I could get home and reheat the stuff faster than they could in their kitchen), it still took almost ten minutes to get the check. The only saving grace at all was that the Currywurst was decent. Nothing to write home about, but good enough.
If we had gotten a single apology or even some acknowledgment from the staff during this process it wouldn't have been the end of the world, but they were either oblivious or simply didnât care. From the ridiculous wait to the lousy service to the cold, mediocre food, I don't think you could pay me to go back...
Read moreI have no idea how this restaurant gets that many stars... we went there yesterday and me as a German from Bavaria had to fight with my upsad stumic... My husband ordered Currywurst, witch he got served with a tiny tiny amount of fries, and the sauce is just a "spice sauce" but never really a currywurst sauce... They forgot our appetizers,my Leberkäs with eggs was not really a burner as well...had to ask if they could cook my eggs a little more... The waitress told us she never eight German food but I think she cooked ours...yea...great... We all still tried to be nice and I thought maybe they need some helpful advice,I told them if they use regular ketchup and spice it up with curry powder,it would taste so much better and they would save money as well then paying for some ugly spiced sauce... After the waitress walked back to the kitchen,a other lady walked out (assuming one of the owners),she passed us and looked at me very mad, when we left she was sitting outside smoking and starred at me like she wishes lightning would hit me... A real Bavarian would walked to me and talked about it lol ;) But this one was all butt hurt...oh well to bad... Oh and the beer is almost 7.00$ just for one bottle...you can get a 6 pack of German beer (and yes even paulaner) in El Paso way cheaper! -So if I put it together: -To expensive for the portions you get -Not so much good food -Owner very easy butt hurt -Waitress never had German food nor tried some in the restaurant where she works but...
Read moreI visited this place when it first opened a few years ago. The food was not good at all. Over the years, I've eaten from their food truck and thought okay they've gotten better. It's always hard to really have it all together when an establishment first opens. Well, my husband and I decided to try the restaurant again and I was blown away. We don't have many German restaurants in EP so it's nice to finally have one that I can say the food is actually good. My husband who is from Germany said the food tastes just like a good quality restaurant back home. And I agree! The schnitzels we ordered were cooked to perfection. Light and crips on the outside, tender on the inside. Both potato salads they serve were amazing. I couldn't pick a favorite. We ordered potato pancakes and didn't mind the wait to get them at all because they were being made to order. The service we received was top notch. But the star of the meal was the Spätzle with gravy. Who knew those soft noodles could taste so good and steal the spotlight?! I am so glad we decided to give this place another try. If you decide to eat there, don't pass up the desserts. Their black forest cheesecake is out of this world. For about an hour that we were there, it felt like we were...
