So we arrived in El Paso tired and hungry with no idea where to eat. A few locals told us to try El Cometa because it was open late and the food was good. It was also off the freeway and close to our hotel. So we got to a place that was buzzing with people; eating, talking, laughing. We looked around and saw plates with mountains of food and we realized we came to the right place! I had the crispy rolled tacos, I know as flautas. Wife had tacos. My plate came with 4 flautas and a mountain of lettuce and cheese and so much other ingredients, I could not finish them! Wife’s tacos came with lots of meat on a plate and several tortillas on a separate plate. She then made her own tacos and there was plenty of lettuce, tomatoes, and other condiments to choose from! She could not finish her plate either! In short, we left happy! Now the service was a little slow but it was packed so I could not surmise if the service was normally slow or it was because of the packed house. The food was not fancy but it was good and there was plenty of it—at a very reasonable price! If you’re in the El Paso area check it out, you will leave happy !

El Cometa is an absolute gem and a must-visit staple in El Paso! Yes, you might be a little surprised by the security pat-down upon entry, but don't let that deter you—it's all part of the experience, and it ensures a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. Now, onto the real star: the food. I ordered the tacos de bistec, and they were nothing short of phenomenal. The steak was perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with flavor, while the fresh tortillas and toppings tied everything together beautifully. Every bite felt like a celebration of authentic Mexican cuisine. The atmosphere is vibrant and down-to-earth, making it the perfect spot for a casual meal with friends or family. If you're in El Paso and craving delicious, authentic tacos, El Cometa is the place to be. Don't let the security protocol scare you off—you'll be rewarded with some of the best food in town!

So this place is more of a self serve. I ordered the beef tacos with cheese. It comes with lots of flour tortillas, the beef plate, and the condiments you get yourself from a salad bar kind of thing. You get free nachos once you get your table. The sauces and condiments are excellent. The meat itself is average, would say 6/10 quality wise. Quantity is super generous. Price is very reasonable. I also got tres leches for dessert which was different from any usual tres leches I had before. Different in a good way, very light and not too sugary. Servers were nice. Overall I’m satisfied with the experience, but won’t go there again as I didn’t like the beef much. Maybe I’ll give a try to their pork option next time.

Worst restaurant in El Paso.

This place needs to be shut down…fingerprints on the dishes , food is not hot ever. Your flautas are not sizzling hot, instead they’re barely warm, so gross.

How about make us sizzling hot flautas still steaming.

I promise you and bet you $100.00, if you go here, your flautas will not be hot at all.

They have no beans or rice either.

There’s no need for young punk security guard kids to be there with guns. They’re not even responsible decision makers with weapons and there’s no need for armed security at a restaurant; it’s not a bank or an airport .

The tacos alambre were horrible, meat was like beef jerky , nothing soft or special about it.

I always drive by telling myself that I have to stop and try this place out since it's always so busy! I finally decided to have eat lunch here with a friend around 1:30 and boyyyy was it busy!

There is a little area with chairs as soon as you walk in, where you stand and wait for the waitress to sit you. Our waitress quickly ran on over and sat us down. She probably knew this was our first time dining in since we did look a little lost. She informed us to put our stuff down and head in over to the ordering counter.

Walking towards the ordering counter was a challenge due to trying to avoid running into employees, other customers, and trying to navigate yourself around the winding tables.

The ordering process is easy. You tell the cashier what you want and bam there you go. They have tacos, flautas, burritos, and some other dishes but we went for the flautas!

After ordering, we left the counter and went right to the salsa bar. We grabbed cucumber, lemons, radishes, geeen salsa, red salsa, guacamole, and some grilled jalapeños!

The dishes were brought out to us rather quickly and the waitress was very nice. GUYS THE FLAUTAS WERE DELICIOUS!!! They are loaded on top with queso fresco, onions, lettuce, drizzled sour cream, tomatoes, and they have a ton of beef inside of them!!

I definitely will be back for some more flautas and I have to try the tacos al pastor! Food was delicious and the service was great!...

So today I decided to treat my mother to lunch at this establishment. Everytime we've tried going its been super busy so this visit was long overdue. We drove from the other side of town and when we showed up we were pleased to see that it wasn't as busy as usual. We walked in and were promptly seated... This was the extent of any attention we were given for the duration of our stay. We waited about 10 min for someone to attend to us but no one came despite the fact that they were slow compared to all other times we've tried to go. All the waiters were too busy hanging out by the cash register and counting (I'm assuming) their tips, laughing and goofing off to notice that they had (by this time) several tables waiting around for service. The lady in the table next to ours got fed up of waiting and went to ask for service and the lady that worked there did advise the waiters to get to work but not one of them even budged. I shouldn't have to feel like I need to beg a business to take my order, or at the very least acknowledge my existence. We got up and left to another restaurant where we were given the attention and service that any paying customer deserves. Such a shame that our first impression was such a negatively profound one. I will never go back and will advise all others to save themselves the aggravation and take their business elsewhere, where they will be appreicated and...
