I’m a minimalist living a frugal life. I always try to save and not waste my hard earned money. This is where budget grocery stores can help. I keep my food budget at $200 a month. I find that challenging however when I’m travelling to the US because America is so expensive. I was travelling to El Paso when I asked my hotel what budget grocery stores are available. I went online and found this place. It had lots of great reviews so I got out of my way to go there even though my hotel is right beside Walmart. Quite frankly I was quite disappointed with the experience. The store was big and had a lot of stuff but everything was really disorganized and hard to fine. I purchased a red cabbage at $.49 a pound. Looking at my receipt on my way home I realize that the cashier charged me for red onions. Red onions were almost 4 times more expensive. So I ended up paying for something that I never bought and for the sake of saving money I got charged 4 times more. How can you not tell the difference between a cabbage and a red onion? Not only that but the store actually charges a 10% managers fee at the end of your Total bill! What in the world is a manager’s fee ? How can you justify being a cheap grocery store helping people save money yet you’re charging them 10%? So afterwards I calculated my receipt very carefully and compared all the items I bought to Walmart prices and realize that my Walmart items would’ve cost me altogether four dollars less than this store. Conclusion of the story? This is a want to be budget store in disguise. I was standing behind elderly man at customer service, he asked a young lady Hispanic with long hair if he could pay for his items she said yes as long it was less then 15 items. When he approached the counter Carly was your customer service clerk, when he was going to put his items on the counter she told him he couldn’t pay for the items at customer service and had to get in line, the lines were long and you only had 2 cashiers 😡 when I approached the counter after he left I asked when was this enforced being I had paid for items a day before? She roles her eyes and gave no reason. a few minutes later she went and opens register 1 when she could have helped that elderly nan, Carly need better training and be more considerate of the elderly she was rude and uncaring of this customer. Another issue the pants she was wearing are they work appropriate? All Tp pies from the front showing her legs and thighs? Don’t think this makes your store look very reputable if your employees wear jeans as if they are trying to hook up. Very disappointed with food king, I know you have a big turn over on employee because every time I go new cashiers are at the counter. Read moreThis place is garbage. My husband went To purchase a few things and he wanted to be thoughtful and bought me a fruit bowl. Right when I saw it I noticed the fruit looked soggy and the bowl looked inflated. I opened it to make sure and sure enough the lid popped righ off releasing a disgusting smell in my car. I went back to customer service to get my money back and there was 2 people there. The female didn't know how to do a refund. (Why would you have someone that cant do refunds at the customer service) the guy was trying to guide her through it. Ones the process was done I ask for my original receipt back and they say they cant give it to me. I told them I needed it because I purchased other items and they basically told me TOO BAD they need it. I told them that was MY receipt and ones they saw I wasn't leaving without it they called the manager. Are you gonna tell me a place like this cant print out a copy of my transaction?
